"Fucking idiot*" MAGAts have managed to finagle leadership

over the nation’s purse strings and judiciary branch after surgically and systematically ushering in legislation that cut restrictions on private donors’ purse strings.

Are they: vile, cruel, crooked, murderous, racist, xeno/homo/trans/nonwhite(men)-phobic, misogynistic, psychopathic, narcissistic, bullying, greedy, ruthless, shameless, traitorous perverted lunatics? (Feel free to add to this list.)

Yes.

I just seriously doubt that their advantage will be taken away by underestimating their intelligence. Every time I see laughs at their deliberately distracting “mistakes” (think “covfefe”) I think of them laughing at the educated. They don’t care that you think they’re stupid. They love it actually.

Messaging matters. I hope our framing going forward is proactive and focuses on the many other opportunities for attack besides their intelligence.

* This was something someone called a MAGAt in a recent thread

Orwell knew

“To survive it is often necessary to fight and to fight you have to dirty yourself.”

Historian John Meacham closed Sunday Morning program with this

“…Abraham Lincoln believed his campaign for reelection amid the Civil War was doomed…Lincoln wrote, ‘then it will be my duty to so cooperate with the president elect …’”.

“Tuesday, Americans will go to the polls in the first national election since the insurrection of January 6, 2021 … 300 election deniers are on the ballot across America. At stake is … the viability and the durability of American democracy itself.

I wish this were hyperbolic, I wish it were hypothetical, but it’s neither. Democracies are always conditional enterprises. They depend not only on the substance of laws of institutions but on the character of the leaders and of the led.

Democracy in the pursuit of power for power sake … is tempting but it’s destructive. This is why the unfolding voting in the midterm elections is so important. There are forces abroad in the land that are choosing to put their own power ahead of everything else. To them, politics is not a mediation of differences but an occasion for total war.

Usually a vote is about policy … this year‘s vote is about more than that. It’s about whether elected REPUBLICAN officials will obey the law, fairly count the votes in 2024 and obey the will of the people.

Biden and McCarthy stomping in IL Kinzinger's seat's at stake

I really hope we take it but downstate IL is MAGAT territory.

Maybe they’ll come to their senses after seeing what Kinzinger’s been up to.

Buttigieg on Colbert -- great as usual...

Just said Republicans focus on problems but not solutions in so many words.

Also said he wished he could have debated any of their proposals but there were none from them.

Bravo!

It’s about time.

Maybe they should be called RePROBLEMcans.

CBS "report" just now that candidates are skipping debates

Then they showed about 12 pics of smiling faces without names — or more importantly— party affiliation while newz guy says “these candidates refused to debate.”

Then a map saying it is a growing national trend.

But they don’t say who the candidates are and more importantly which party they’re from.

How many Democrats do you think are skipping debates? My answer: ZERO. But they don’t make that clear.

It’s both sideism without even saying that specifically.
