Because you share a lot of cool Medieval buildings with us.

Equestrian statue of Ramon Berenguer III (the Great) located in the Plaça de Ramon Berenguer el Gran. The Chapel of Santa Àgata (1302) and the Real Mayor Palace are in the background, as well as the ancient Roman wall and foundations upon which they were constructed.



My apologies to all who looked or rec'd the first one. I had to fix some things.

EDIT: I think that this was taken in Villefranche-sur-Mer, but I have a nagging suspicion that it was taken in Monaco (which is just up the road). I didn't do a very good job of keeping track of the set this came from, and I was too lazy to go through the cards to check for context.

Spanish Doors


A friend of ours from Switzerland unlocking the doors to our Airbnb in Barcelona. Dani met us in Barcelona, and traveled with us to Nice. We hadn't seen her in five years (except through Skype) when she came to the US for my youngest daughter's wedding. It was great to have her with us. The fact that she is fluent in French was an added bonus.

My wife is fluent in Spanish, which was great in Barcelona. My youngest daughter and her husband met us in Rome after cycling from Nice to Florence, and then catching the train. He is fluent in Italian, so between the five of us we had all of the language bases covered. Most people we met spoke at least some English, but it's nice not to have to rely on that.

Anyway, these doors are just more of the cool architecture we saw on this trip. Check out that door hardware!

I want to thank DU'er 3Hotdogs...

I want to thank DU'er 3Hotdogs for kindly and gently letting me know that Kyrie Eleison is sung during the most sacred of Catholic religious services.

I did not know that.

I apologize to any of my DU brothers and sisters of the Catholic faith who found my post offensive or inappropriate. I think the piece is beautiful, and the soprano's voice amazing, and I wanted to share that.

Even though I'm told that the piece was played on British radio during the 1960's, and no one has taken me to task for posting it, I am removing it anyway on the chance that some might find it offensive to post alongside secular music.
