There was just another conversation on the teevee, a chat between the host and a member of the House or Senate, about the stinky miasma emanating from the Clarence/Ginni Thomas scandal. Much opining about how this could damage the reputation of the highest court and erode confidence in its function. Noted: the clear absence of the adjective further, as in "further" damage and "further" erode.

For many of us the decline in SCOTUS' credibility exploded onto the scene in 2000, and it's been seriously downhill since, starting but not stopping with Citizens United. Following Roberts' appointment, the addition of Alito was bad enough, but the later opportunity to add insult to injury proved irresistible and Gorsuch got stirred in, with Kavanaugh and Barrett joining Roberts in the "Let's Help W Get Appointed Club."

If this trend of judicial impunity continues, there will soon be nothing left to either respect or believe in.
Require recusal, SCOTUS, or just go home.

have pictures of the mouth. My cardiologist's office has pictures of the heart. My pulmonologist's office has pictures of the lungs. My proctologist's office has a picture of Tom Cotton.

A moment of weird

Did a copy-and-paste of a cartoon onto a Facebook post. As I began to type the caption, I noted that the letters were all wrong. Thinking that I'd had my hands misplaced on the keyboard, I backspaced and started over, making sure my hands were correctly placed. Again, the letters were wrong, randomly switching cases and sometimes going to the front of the line.

To be on the safe side, I cancelled the post. Then I went to Word and a couple other places and typed in a test phrase; all normal. So, went back to Facebook for another attempt, and it went fine. Whew.

But I'm still wondering what the heck that was all about. Any ideas?

So this has started showing up at the bottom of my screen. Just now and then, it's not constant. And when I hover the mouse over it the message that appears is "your location is currently in use". Well, yeah, I'm at my location and I am using my computer. But I'm way too chicken to click on it. Anybody know what it is/does?

Which Republican

will come in second to Hawley in the race for most offensive inquisitor during the Jackson confirmation hearings? Or, will someone be even more heinous than him?

Feeling plucky

Years ago, I got it into my head to learn to play the banjo. What ensued was a couple of years of frustration, as my hand rebelled against learning the banjo chords and insisted on playing guitar chords. And just to be ornery, when I'd pick up the guitar that same hand would retaliate with banjo chords. To save my sanity (and the neighbors' ears), I sold the banjo and kept the guitar. Recently a 6-string banjo showed up on FB marketplace and I snagged it. Surprised by how much it weighs, but I love the way it sounds, using the familiar guitar chords. It needs new strings; there's a shop here that will take care of that. Outdoor hootenanny season is approaching, and I confess that I'm very much looking forward to it. Cover your ears, this is the only warning you will receive.
