Donald Trump: If I lose, ‘it’s OK ... I go back to a very good way of life’

Donald Trump: If I lose, ‘it’s OK ... I go back to a very good way of life’
Dylan Stableford Senior editor August 11, 2016

Donald Trump says if he loses the presidential election to Hillary Clinton, he’d be fine with it because he’s got a lot of money and he’s the one telling the truth.

“I’m a truth teller,” the Republican nominee told CNBC on Thursday. “All I do is tell the truth. And if at the end of 90 days I fall short because I’m somewhat politically [incorrect] even though I’m supposed to be the smart one and even though I’m supposed to have a lot of good ideas, it’s OK. You know, I go back to a very good way of life.”

Poll: Clinton leading Trump in critical battlegrounds

Poll: Clinton leading Trump in critical battlegrounds

Washington (CNN)Hillary Clinton has opened up commanding leads over Donald Trump in several critical battleground states, including North Carolina and Colorado, according to a new poll Friday.

Clinton leads Trump 46%-32% in Colorado, 44%-39% in Florida, 48%-39% in North Carolina and 46%-33% in Virginia, according to new NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls.

The results represent increasing margins for Clinton in each of those four states, compared with polling conducted before the conventions and all the leads are outside each poll's margin of sampling error. The polls also tested four-way matchups including Gary Johnson and Jill Stein and found that the margin between Clinton and Trump holds when the third party candidates are included.

Will Donald Trump Hand State Capitols to Democrats?

Will Donald Trump Hand State Capitols to Democrats?
A Democratic landslide in November could flip a dozen or more legislative majorities that Republicans captured during the Obama era.
RUSSELL BERMAN 6:00 AM ET

Donald Trump’s recent plunge in the polls has tempted Democrats to widen their dreams for a big night in November. A landslide victory for Hillary Clinton, they now believe, could bring with it control of the U.S. Senate and dramatically shrink the party’s gap with Republicans in the House—if not flip it entirely.

But there could be a Trump effect in another 2016 battleground that could shape the electoral landscape much further into the future: the elections for control of state legislatures.

Trump: 'Fine' with trying US citizens in military courts

Trump: 'Fine' with trying US citizens in military courts
Published 9:18 PM EDT Aug 11, 2016

(CNN) —Donald Trump said in an interview Thursday that he would support trying US citizens suspected of terrorism in military tribunals -- a controversial proposal that would likely be challenged as unconstitutional.

The Republican presidential nominee told the Miami Herald that he doesn't "at all" like the idea of trying terrorist suspects in the civilian court system, even though US citizens are constitutionally entitled to due process. He added that he would be "fine" with trying US citizens in military tribunals at Guantánamo Bay, the US naval base that is also home to a military prison housing captured terror suspects.

Experts say white supremacists see Trump campaign as "last stand"

Experts say white supremacists see Trump campaign as "last stand"
AP August 11, 2016

WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his campaign are expressing ideas similar to those espoused by white supremacists, legal, media and civil rights experts say.

In addition, the experts said Wednesday, white supremacists are using the 2016 presidential elections to attempt to control the culture of politics.

"Many white supremacists see this as their last stand for controlling the country," Heidi Beirich, head of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, said on a conference call with reporters.

Denial, anger and revenge: By playing the “rigged election” card, Trump and his backers...

...will wreak havoc on the U.S. after November
Trump's followers and the GOP will do everything to ensure that Clinton and America pays a price for her victory
HEATHER DIGBY PARTON WEDNESDAY, AUG 10, 2016

Back in the early 1980s Republicans convinced themselves that the Reagan Revolution had ushered in a thousand year reign. It was unimaginable that any Democrat could possibly be president now that the glory of Ronald had been bestowed upon America. So when Bill Clinton won in 1992 they simply refused to believe it. Republican leader Dick Armey openly declared that Clinton was not his President. In his 2003 book “The Natural” Joe Klein wrote:

From the beginning of his presidency, there was indeed the sense – radiating from the Gingrich wing of the Republican Party . . . that the new President was a usurper who had managed to hoodwink the American public. He was to be opposed at every turn, by any means necessary, and, if possible, destroyed.
