Sanders bows to the establishment

Sanders bows to the establishment
After several days of heat over his dismissal of several key liberal interest groups, the Vermont senator tries to remind voters of his record of support for abortion rights.

By DANIEL STRAUSS 01/22/16 08:03 PM EST

ROCHESTER, N.H. — On Friday, Bernie Sanders finally bowed down to the establishment.

Three days after getting himself in hot water with several key liberal constituencies by dismissing Planned Parenthood, NARAL and the Human Rights Campaign as "part of the establishment," Sanders gave ground on the point, releasing a statement highlighting the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and singing the praises of "Planned Parenthood, NARAL and all Americans who have been fighting the never-ending attacks on women’s right to choose."

His remarks followed a day after his first attempt to quell the furor on the left over his initial remark, which was meant to downplay his inability to win the formal endorsements of the prominent progressive groups.

Oregon militiamen just want free stuff from the government

Susan J. Demas: Oregon militiamen just want free stuff from the government

But like Cliven Bundy in Nevada, who refused to pay $1 million in grazing fees he owed to the feds, the Hammonds consider themselves special. (Not surprisingly, the Oregon siege is led by Bundy's son, Ammon, who was apparently OK with government "tyranny" in 2010 when he took a sweet federal loan of $530,000).

Now they're all trying to exploit anti-government sentiment — which has reached a fever pitch on the right (just ask GOP front-runner Donald Trump) — to cover up their illegal activity.

They're not patriots. They're criminals and freeloaders.

What they really want is free stuff — something conservatives usually rally against when it's welfare, food stamps or Obamacare.

They want the federal government to give up land so they can use it and make money, be it from ranching, logging, mining or other means. Somehow, I'm not sure we can trust them to protect the environment and public health.
