it's a matter of his own heart, nothing to do with people voting.

Maybe as Pope he will have more opportunity to meet
and listen to the righteous (vs religious) side of these
issues.

This can cause a person to evolve -- an open mind
and heart. All of us have been blind in one way or
another in our lives. Something changed, made us
see or think differently.

Time will tell.

There are different types of abuse. Violence is the imposition of one's will upon another.

I think you know this.

Pressure to have sex, unwanted unrelenting pressure,
psychologically manipulative pressure, is sexual
violence. It's harder to identify than violent sex.

And because it's impossible to prosecute and hard
to prove, it can be twice as damaging to the
non-consenting party.

My opinion.

Zimmerman in the Dallas News: "Who Was the Real Thug?"

http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/latest-columns/20131124-who-was-the-real-thug--trayvon-martin-or-george-zimmerman.ece

But here’s the thing: Why did some of us need Trayvon to be an angel in the first place? Why did they feel such a pressing urgency to magnify — and manufacture — his failings? Why was it so important to them to make him unworthy of sympathy?

It is a question that assumes new potency the more we see of George Zimmerman. On the day he shot Trayvon, this hero of the conservative noise machine, this righteous white Hispanic man who was, they say, just standing his ground, already had a record that included an accusation he attacked an undercover police officer. That same year — 2005 — a woman sought a restraining order against him, alleging domestic violence.

In September, Zimmerman had a fresh run-in with police over a domestic violence accusation by his estranged wife. In this latest episode, a girlfriend said he pulled a gun on her. In court, she said that once, he even tried to choke her.

Granted, none of these charges has been adjudicated, but there is certainly a pattern here. It ought to give decent people pause and the conservative noise machine shame — assuming it is capable of that emotion. That pattern paints in neon the machine’s willful blindness, the reflexive alacrity with which it assigns the thug label to the black kid — and innocence to the white man.

I never understand what is meant by "our great ally" as I don't have warm feelings

about the way Israel has dictated so much of our foreign
policy, not so much an ally as a blackmailer.

Nor their wanton disregard of many respectful
requests to make peace with neighbors.

Nor the arrogance with which that government
views and criticizes a President I happen to love.

Nor the amount of US taxpayer dollars funding
their settlements and their bombs.

It seems to me they are "our great obstacle" to
making allies of EVERYBODY in the region and
I bet lots of people would go for that.

LOTS AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WANT PEACE.
Brothers and sisters in the Middle East
of all religions and tribal persuasions want
peace. Children everywhere want peace, old
people want peace, mothers and fathers,
almost everyone.

Peace is POSSIBLE.
If we want it, it is possible.

"Internet" did not create this.. just saying

This guy is a product and creature of our times, The Age of Who-gives-a-shit.

The conscience receptors seem to have atrophied in this branch of our species.

Such people can't survive for long under scrutiny, in daylight -- any more than a nightcrawler can enjoy a day playing outside in the warm sun.

This is why the mighty Internet is a wonderful thing. Almost nobody can hide. Lies can only be disguised for a little while. Things are becoming transparent. The manifest world is becoming transparent. We begin to see that which is behind everything.

yappy dogs is a good description

especially of tv 'news' people, on Fox for example.

This might be helpful:

Cesar Millan's Best Tips to Stop Dog Barking

1. Correct dog problem behavior and follow through.
Tell your dog to stop barking using a look, a sound, or a physical correction. But don't stop there. Your dog may pause and then go right back to what he was doing. ...Be patient. Wait until your dog completely submits....

2. Stay calm when trying to stop dog barking.

Constant barking can be irritating, but you won't be able to correct the dog behavior problem if you are frustrated. Animals don't follow unbalanced leaders. In fact, your dog will mirror your energy. ...

good luck.. I wish you a journey free of pain and fear.

People have been dying for a very long time so it
can't be too hard. Maybe it is even an astounding
and marvelous experience.

Until then I wish you peace, fun, good herbs
& medicines, whatever you like best;

and to be surrounded by kindness and whatever,
whomever, you want or need there;

and that when your moment comes, you are ready
to let go, and fly.

We are immortal beings in a mortal box. The box
breaks, it stays here, and we go onward.

many of these people, if good pot is not available, will drink, maybe then drive, or seek other

self-medications that are more dangerous than
cannabis.

Many who smoke regularly function perfectly well.
Some can function normally for the first time.

One friend from a very poor ghetto told me that
it was only when he smoked pot that he could sit
and read a book. But every day when he walked
out his door to go to work, crack dealers greeted
him. Good cannabis wasn't available.

For many people who have lost the ability
to feel, or who are afraid to feel, or to look at
themselves; many who are deeply depressed
and unable to see beauty anywhere,
cannabis has enormous healing possibilities.

There's a small number of people who probably
should never use pot. I know first-hand it
can exaggerate or accentuate panic attacks or
hallucinations, IF a person is already on that
edge. If they're not, pot's unlikely to take you
there, my personal opnion. Pot is what took me
through the terrors, and out the other side.

Back in the 60's, my brother convinced my mother
to smoke some pot. For the first time since
we'd known her, she stopped talking.

She lay down on the couch & listened to Mozart
for a very long time. She said I have never heard
music this way before. Every note.

Pot is also both a diagnostic and educational
medicine, in my experience. Often under the
influence, a person can pinpoint the source of
their bodily pain or tension, or even of emotional
pain. It can also trigger profound emotional
release. It can naturally & spontaneously urge
the body and mind to do healing activities such
as dance, sing, move, breathe, stretch, eat, weep,
make art, and best-known effect of all, Laugh.

Cannabis can trigger insight, especially I think
into other people, our common humanity,
and of course a familiar joyful experience called
"don't worry be happy." As I'm sure you know,
happiness leads to all sorts of benefits, bodily
and otherwise.

Marijuana is a primarily a drug of peace, of
non violence, unlike alcohol or cocaine.
This is documented in more primitive societies
but I'm sorry I don't have a link on hand.

As far as people not knowing who they are,
under the influence of marijuana...?

I've been there many, many times. I love that
place.

Who am I? just me. alive, here, in this moment,
on an exquisite planet, breathing, feeling,
enjoying my existence.

My biggest reason for supporting pot, medical and
for recreation, is that it helps people rediscover
the normal attractions of childhood. The fascination
& appreciation of simple things. The creative and
playful. The silly.

We creatures on this planet are starving. Not for
food, but for fun.
