NY Auto Dealers Revving Up for Battle With Tesla

from 24/7 Wall Street.com:

http://247wallst.com/autos/2014/03/14/ny-auto-dealers-revving-up-for-battle-with-tesla/

Auto dealers in New York failed last April to get a state court to reverse a ruling by the state’s motor vehicle department approving the direct sale of its cars by Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA). But the car dealers have not given up, and a recent ban on Tesla’s sales model in New Jersey and another battle shaping up in Ohio has sent the dealers in search of sympathetic state legislators.

If New York car dealers are successful in their efforts to ban direct sales by car makers, New York will join New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado and Texas, where Tesla has been prohibited from selling cars directly to customers. In Virginia the company was able to negotiate a compromise that permits the company to sell directly from one store only

Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk has not impressed politicians as much as he has technocrats and investors. Perhaps that is because he does not spread any money around. The New Jersey auto dealers donated nearly $700,000 to New Jersey politicians in the years between 2003 and 2009. And in politics, money talks and bullshit walks.

Paul Ryan has defined himself...forever...good!!

His comment," -- Some inner city men suffer from a culture that does not value hard work", defines him. Like the 47 percent comment of Romney. The story about the boy and "lunch" further defines him. It defines him and his fellow selfish assholes.
But this is out there for all to see, clear and focused, exactly what he stands for.

Good...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like Christy with the steel from the twin towers. These selfish assholes make it clear exactly who they are for all to see.

The emperor really has no clothes......for all to see....
Good..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..

Is it our business, or their business? An example of our business....

In 1962 there was a crisis in Cuba. About Russian missiles that were pointed in our direction. 90 miles away. So, I recall talking to someone years later who was on a Navy ship at the time, and he said it was clear we were headed for war. We were mobilizing and it was clear to everyone on the ship, that that was the case. So, Nikita Khrushchev, the Russian leader backed down. Why? Cuba, even though a Russian friend, was not their business. 90 miles from us, missiles pointed at us, that is our business. Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico..our business.. So, he backed down.

Ukraine, Crimea, not our business. It is Russian business. Anyone who looks at a map, or reads the history of the area, knows whose business it is. Was Viet Nam our business? or.. Iraq? Crimea ain't our business. Go ahead and argue it. But it ain't our business.

Those for war, and there are many...well, you go, not the young men and woman who have recently gone. You go, suit up, get your guns and armor on..go fight in a war...and have fun...

Obamacare Just Made Americans Richer, Without Anyone Noticing..Huff Post

Glenn Beck once said Obamacare would mean "the end of prosperity in America forever." But so far, it turns out President Obama's 2010 health law is actually putting money in Americans' wallets.

To be exact, President Obama's 2010 health law was responsible for about three-quarters of a surprising January rise in U.S. consumer spending and American income growth, according to calculations by the Wall Street Journal.

While not exceptional, the gains were significant: a 0.4 percent rise in consumer spending ($45.2 billion) and a 0.3 percent rise in personal incomes (up $43.9 billion), according to new figures released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The growth came in spite of the expiration of unemployment benefits for the long-term unemployed and all that horrible winter weather.

So what exactly did the Obamacare rollout do to cause such a rise? For one, it expanded the Medicaid program, a critical and highly controversial aspect of the law, by adding up to a $19 billion in benefits in January. On top of that, health care enrollees additionally received another near $15 billion in the form of tax credits as a result of the rollout, according to the BEA.

New U.S. Fuel Standards Aim to Cut Asthma and Heart Attacks

Source: CNBC, Reuters

The Obama administration on Monday announced new fuel and automobile rules to cut soot, smog and toxic emissions, which it says will reduce asthma and heart attacks in the United States.

The rules unveiled by the Environmental Protection Agency will cut sulfur levels in gasoline by more than 60 percent and will be phased in between 2017 and 2025.

Health advocates praised the move, while a petroleum refiners' group called the compliance schedule unrealistic and warned that these regulations and others would eventually raise gasoline prices throughout the country.

"By reducing these pollutants and making our air healthier, we will bring relief to those suffering from asthma, other lung diseases and cardiovascular disease, and to the nation as a whole," said Dr. Albert Rizzo, former chairman of the American Lung Association.

Kansas Senator Pat Roberts Doesn't Actually Live in Kansas

Source: Talking Points Memo

Daniel Strauss – February 7, 2014, 3:18 PM
Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KY) does not have a home in his home state of Kansas and, when he needs an address in the state, uses one that belongs to two donors.

According to The New York Times, Roberts, who is facing a primary challenge from tea party favorite Milton Wolf, uses the address of donors C. Duane and Phyllis Ross for voter registration and a place to sleep occasionally when he travels to the state.

"I have full access to the recliner," Roberts told the newspaper of the home in Dodge City, Kansas. "Nobody knows the state better than I do."

Roberts and his wife, a real estate broker, own a home in Alexandria, Virginia.

Todd Akin 2.0? Georgia’s Senate Race Is GOP’s Worst Nightmare: Talking Points Memo

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/georgia-senate-race-candidates-liability

Daniel Strauss – February 7, 2014, 6:00 AM EST19326

Republicans have struggled to try and avoid campaign-crippling remarks that could snatch away an otherwise easy win in 2014 -- but that may be impossible in the Georgia Senate race.

With eight candidates vying for the nomination, you'd think Republicans would have their pick for the next Georgia senator. Instead the field is filled with a mess of candidates who drudge up the worst stereotypes of an anti-science, anti-woman, anti-Obama, anti-immigrant Mr. Moneybags candidate -- a reputation the party has desperately been trying to shed.

Democrats view the GOP's field as a boon for likely Democratic nominee Michelle Nunn, daughter of the former Sen. Sam Nunn (D-GA), who many think has a chance even in a red state like Georgia. There's a real possibility that the large GOP field will split the vote causing a runoff GOP primary between the two lead candidates.

"I mean, the runoff is going to be a shitshow," a Democratic campaign official told TPM. "In the past six weeks we've seen 'sweep the floor,' we've seen 'impeach Obama,' we've seen Paul Broun raffle off a rifle."
