'Complete Bats**t Insanity': Critics Torch Trump Over Bonkers Medical Rant

Source: Huff Post

Oct 27, 2025, 12:27 AM EDT

President Donald Trump on Sunday fired off an all-caps warning urging women not to take Tylenol while pregnant or give it to their kids while also scaremongering about common childhood vaccines.

Trump did a copy-and-paste job of his own September post railing against Tylenol as well as the MMR, chickenpox and hepatitis B vaccines (which he misspelled as “HEPATITAS”), then added a link to a new report in the conservative Daily Caller that claimed the FDA ignored warnings about the use of the painkiller during pregnancy.

Trump last month held a press conference where he pushed unproven claims linking Tylenol and certain vaccines to autism. Medical experts at the time slammed the advice, saying it’s not backed by evidence. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, for example, called Trump’s guidance “irresponsible” and “unsettling.”

Most experts urged pregnant women to follow the advice of their own doctors rather than anything the president said. Trump at the time suggested the experts have conflicts, while also admitting they could be correct.

Mamdani rallies with Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez as Democrats close ranks around NYC mayoral nominee

New York - As New Yorkers cast their ballots in the city’s mayoral race, Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani sent a message to voters Sunday, asking them not to choose “settling for the lesser of two evils,” warning his supporters to not take his double-digit lead in the polls as a guarantee. “While Donald Trump’s donor billionaires think they have the money to buy this election, we have a movement of the masses,” Mamdani said to a roaring crowd.

Mamdani took the stage at a raucous rally alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, where thousands of people chanted Mamdani’s name and repeated in unison his signature proposals to freeze the rent, make buses fast and free, and provide universal child care.

The rally was part closing argument, part rallying of the troops ahead of the November 4 election, with Mamdani casting the race as a choice between democracy and oligarchy and Sanders and Ocasio Cortez touting Mamdani’s campaign as the vanguard of a progressive movement itching to push back on the second Trump administration.

“I’m talking to you, Donald Trump,” Ocasio-Cortez declared, saying that “in nine short days we will work our hearts out to elect Zohran Kwame Mamdani as the next mayor of the great city of New York.”

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro campaigns for Abigail Spanberger in Virginia

Source: NBC News

Oct. 26, 2025, 8:46 PM EDT

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — As Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro trotted out to speak to voters Sunday at a community center in this city in southeastern Virginia, the crowd roared and clapped every time he referred to the person he was there to support: Abigail Spanberger, the Democratic nominee for governor.

His message wasn’t subtle. Shapiro, a prospective 2028 presidential candidate, lauded Spanberger as a “compassionate,” “caring” and “well-grounded person” who’d act as a “freedom fighter” — and whose leadership would help protect the state from President Donald Trump.

“She’s going to protect your fundamental freedoms. That’s where governors matter most. Because right now we’ve got a president of the United States who’s attacking the states, making it harder for you to get ahead, making stuff cost more and limiting your fundamental freedoms,” Shapiro said to loud applause and yells of support. “I don’t know about you, but I don’t want the White House deciding what my freedoms are. I want to keep my freedoms. The best way to do that is with Abigail.”

Shapiro’s appearance on the campaign trail in Virginia nine days before Election Day made him just the latest big-name Democrat (and potential presidential candidate) to parachute into the blue-leaning state in hope of putting Spanberger over the top against her Republican opponent, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.

Lawmakers float a nationwide basic income experiment that would cover the cost of a 2-bedroom apartment

Source: Business Insider

Oct 26, 2025, 7:41 PM ET

A group of Democratic lawmakers wants to test a new kind of social safety net: a monthly paycheck provided by the federal government to spend however you want. New Jersey Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman said she is reintroducing a bill to establish a three-year guaranteed basic income pilot program that would offer a cohort of Americans across the country a no-strings-attached monthly payment — enough to cover rent for a two-bedroom home.

"Events like the Coronavirus Pandemic, economic fluctuations, and increasing automation and job losses threaten to wipe out what little savings they have, to finally push them to homelessness, to reinforce the fact that in the wealthiest nation in the world, too many families are just a single mishap away from financial devastation," Watson Coleman said in a press release.

The legislation is called the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program Act of 2025. A guaranteed basic income is when the government distributes recurring and unrestricted payments to a certain demographic. It differs from a universal basic income, which would provide payments to an entire population. Many US cities have already experimented with guaranteed basic income programs to varying degrees of success.

According to the bill, which is co-sponsored by nine other lawmakers, the pilot program would involve 20,000 people between 18 and 65 years old. Of that group, 10,000 would receive monthly payments equal to the "fair market" rent on a two-bedroom home where they live, or a similar amount to be determined by Health and Human Services. The other half would be the control group.

Hurricane Melissa is now a rare Category 5 storm as it closes in on a historic, catastrophic landfall in Jamaica

Source: CNN Weather

PUBLISHED Oct 25, 2025, 6:47 AM ET

Melissa rapidly intensified over the weekend and is now a rare Category 5 hurricane with 160 mph winds. The National Hurricane Center expects it to make landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday morning as the strongest hurricane on record to strike the island. The center of the hurricane is located about 130 miles south of Kingston, Jamaica and the storm is moving westward at just 3 mph.

“Do not venture out of your safe shelter,” the NHC said Monday morning. “Catastrophic and life-threatening flash flooding and numerous landslides are likely today through Tuesday. Destructive winds, especially in the mountains, will begin by this evening, leading to extensive infrastructural damage, long-lasting power and communication outages, and isolated communities.”

Tropical storm conditions are already ongoing in Jamaica and hurricane conditions will arrive tonight into early Tuesday as Melissa pushes onshore. The Jamaican government issued mandatory evacuation orders Sunday evening for several vulnerable coastal communities, including parts of Kingston, as Melissa intensifies on its approach to the Caribbean nation.

“Storm surge is expected mainly over the southern side of the island, and this would be to the east of the center as it starts to, as it approaches the south coast, and as it begins to make impact,” Evan Thompson, the principal director of Jamaica’s Meteorological Service, said Sunday.

Trump Says He Received 'Perfect' MRI During Walter Reed Visit

Source: msn/Bloomberg

2h

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump said he got a MRI during his October visit to Walter Reed Medical Center, without sharing more details on what prompted the imaging test. “I got an MRI; it was perfect,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One Monday. “I gave you the full results.”

A one-page summary memo released by the White House earlier this month pronounced Trump in “excellent overall health” and noted his visit included “advanced imaging, laboratory testing and preventative health assessments.” However, the report from Trump’s physician, Sean Barbabella, did not detail what prompted the imaging studies. Neither did Trump.

Asked what doctors were looking for on Monday, Trump said only: “You could ask the doctors.” But, he added, “I think they gave you a very conclusive — nobody has ever given you reports like I gave you.”

Trump, 79, has been spotted with swollen ankles and a persistent bruise on his right hand, which at times appears to have been covered with makeup.

Eric Swalwell Calls On 2028 Democratic Nominees To Pledge To Destroy Trump's 'Monument To Corruption' Ballroom

Source: MEDIAite

Oct 26th, 2025, 6:11 pm

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) proposed a stiff litmus test for any Democrat who hopes to be elected president in 2028: pledge to destroy Donald Trump’s $300 million ballroom.

Swalwell posted to X on Sunday, “Don’t even think of seeking the Democratic nomination for president unless you pledge to take a wrecking ball to the Trump Ballroom on DAY ONE.”

In a follow-up tweet, he added, “Or, as @RubenGallego proposes, rename it the Barack Obama Ballroom. But a Trump monument to corruption will not stand.”

Trump demolished the East Wing of the White House over the period of a week to make way for the proposed 90,000 square-foot ballroom designed to accommodate some 1,000 seated guests. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the ballroom “a much-needed and exquisite addition.”“The White House is currently unable to host major functions honoring world leaders in other countries without having to install a large and unsightly tent approximately 100 yards away from the main building’s entrance,” Leavitt said.

Trump offers new warning on Tylenol for pregnant women

Source: The Hill

10/26/25 6:07 PM ET

President Trump on Sunday once again urged pregnant women not to take Tylenol unless “absolutely necessary,” to avoid giving the over-the-counter drug to children “for virtually any reason” and to break up certain vaccine dosages. Trump’s renewed call comes a month after he and top health officials said pregnant women should not take acetaminophen — one of the most widely used medications in the world — for pain relief because of a potential risk of autism, despite no new evidence proving the drug directly causes it.

The advice was also notable because acetaminophen had been seen as the safest pain medication for pregnant women to take. But Trump doubled down on his calls with the Sunday post. “Pregnant Women, DON’T USE TYLENOL UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, DON’T GIVE TYLENOL TO YOUR YOUNG CHILD FOR VIRTUALLY ANY REASON, BREAK UP THE MMR SHOT INTO THREE TOTALLY SEPARATE SHOTS (NOT MIXED!), TAKE CHICKEN P SHOT SEPARATELY, TAKE HEPATITAS B SHOT AT 12 YEARS OLD, OR OLDER, AND, IMPORTANTLY, TAKE VACCINE IN 5 SEPARATE MEDICAL VISITS! President DJT,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social that linked to a Daily Caller article claiming the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stayed silent about potential Tylenol risks.

The president also gave personal suggestions last month on when and how parents should have their children receive certain vaccines, offering advice he said was based on his own feelings. Jim O’Neill, the acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has endorsed Trump’s call to split the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, despite no research supporting the change.

Both the World Health Organization and the European Union have refuted Trump’s assertion that acetaminophen may cause conditions like autism and ADHD when taken by pregnant women. The FDA acknowledged that “a causal relationship has not been established” in public statements following Trump’s initial plea.

Treasury Secretary Says East Wing Demolition Is Fine Because There 'Could Have' Been Mold

Source: Huff Post

Oct 26, 2025, 05:36 PM EDT | Updated 10 hours ago

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he endorsed President Donald Trump demolishing the East Wing of the White House to build a $300 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom. “[Construction] is moving at warp speed, and I think it’s going to be something that all Americans can be proud of,” Bessent said Sunday on “Meet The Press.” The East Wing of the White House was demolished on Thursday to begin construction of the new ballroom.

Preservation groups have expressed concern over the construction because there was little communication on how it would affect the structure of the main building. In July, Trump initially said the ballroom construction project wouldn’t “interfere with the current building.” “It’ll be near it, but not touching it, and pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of,” Trump said in July. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. The entire East Wing was torn down last week.

When “Meet The Press” host Kristen Welker asked Bessent why Trump didn’t tell the public that the entire East Wing would be torn down, Bessent defended Trump, saying asbestos or mold could have led to the destruction. “I completely endorse what the president is doing here with the ballroom, and I assume that maybe parts of the East Wing could have been asbestos, could have been mold, could have not fit with the design,” Bessent said.

It’s unclear if the White House had asbestos or mold. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization, a nonprofit aimed at preventing asbestos exposure, called on the administration to be transparent with its safety measures during the demolition to “reaffirm its commitment to prevention, accountability, and the protection of public health in all federal construction projects.” The organization said the East Wing was built “during a period of extensive asbestos use in government buildings.”

During the ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) period under Obama, many federal buildings, including mine, had extensive renovations done including asbestos abatement. My building was a FDR CCC building and obviously had asbestos in it. Anything undergoing construction within the building had mitigation (including thick plastic curtains around the area) and environmental monitoring equipment was in place for air testing during the whole project.

It doesn't even seem the necessary evaluation work was done before ripping that structure down and leaving a pile of what is probably asbestos, lead (from old paint), and other hazardous substances in the debris.

State Department thought Putin had no interest in ending the war in Ukraine: report

Source: The Independent

Sunday 26 October 2025 16:02 EDT

Intelligence analysts inside the Trump administration were reportedly divided over whether Vladimir Putin was sincerely interested in negotiating an end to the Ukraine war. Ahead of a controversial August summit in Alaska between Trump and Putin, the State Department’s internal intelligence agency took a more dim view of the question than other sectors of the administration, warning the president of Putin’s reluctance to end the conflict in assessments and presidential briefings, The Wall Street Journal reports.

“We kept standing firm,” John Williams, who resigned earlier this year from his post as director of the State Department’s Russia-Eurasia analysis in the intelligence bureau, told the paper. “We didn’t see that [Putin] had incentive to negotiate an end to the war.”

“In the Intelligence Community, differing perspectives aren’t just normal—they’re necessary,” the office of the administration’s Director of National Intelligence said in a statement in response to the reporting. “That debate is how we ensure our decision-makers have the most accurate picture possible to protect the safety and freedom of the American people.”

In the end, the August summit yielded no firm agreement, and progress on ending the war hasn’t moved much, drawing increasing irritation from Trump as he continues to publicly frame himself as a Nobel Prize-worthy peacemaker president.
