NY AG orders Trump Foundation to cease solicitations. Cease & desist order!

The office of New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman has issued a “notice of violation” to Donald J. Trump’s foundation, ordering it to immediately stop soliciting donations in New York.
The letter, which was sent on Friday and released on Monday morning by Mr. Schneiderman’s office, said that its charities bureau had determined that the Donald J. Trump Foundation had been fund-raising in New York this year when it was not registered to do so under state law.
“The Trump Foundation must immediately cease soliciting contributions or engaging in any other fund-raising activities in New York,” wrote James Sheehan, the chief of the charities bureau.
Mr. Trump’s foundation has come under increasing scrutiny amid questions about his fulfillment of large charitable pledges and his lack of financial support in recent years.

Florida Dems file election complaint against Donald Trump in Pam Bondi deal
Florida Democratic Party Chair Allison Tant filed a complaint Thursday with the Florida Elections Commission charging Donald Trump violated Florida law with his $25,000 donation to a committee supporting the re-election of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
The complaint does not charge Bondi with any wrongdoing. And it doesn’t delve into the relationship between Trump and Bondi. Rather, it deals with what happened later as the money moved around.
The elections charge against Trump involves his 2013 Trump Foundation’s $25,000 donation to And Justice For All, a now-closed electioneering communications organization. The donation came as Bondi’s office was reviewing complaints against his Trump University. Bondi’s office decided not to investigate the complaints or join a lawsuit pursued by New York’s attorney general.
Democrats have characterized the donation as a bribe from Trump to Bondi to dissuade any investigation of Trump University. Trump and Bondi have both denied it.

It was a dark and stormy night. Then the lights went out and the wind started.
I had begun a message Thursday night with the first sentence above as the thread title. Then the lights went out.
Hermine was still off the coast but one of the rain bands came through the area. By 3 AM around 100,000 households had lost power. Although our electric coop is working hard, we still don't have power which means no water. I'm flushing the toilet with water I ran into a big muck bucket. Five scoops of water per flush, which happens only when stinky or full of solids.
This morning I went looking for caffeine. I bought caffeine tablets yesterday but they are not satisfying. Yesterday few stores and no restaurants were open, today more are but every place with coffee had huge lines.
The house was liveable until it got sunny today, stayed under 80 until then and my little ryobi fan was great. The first battery lasted almost 24 hours. I thought about finding a hotel room but there are none. Most of the hotels in town have no power either!
Yesterday my friend was told it could be two days to two weeks before she got power. She was at Lowes and bought the last generator off the truck. This morning her power was restored. Without asking, her husband brought the generator over, hooked it my fridge, put a window A/C in, and got my WiFi and TV connected! They might be Republicans, but they are great friends.
All for now. Writing on a tablet is hard and I haven't gotten much sleep.
Trump’s Empire: A Maze of Debts and Opaque Ties

On the campaign trail, Donald J. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has sold himself as a businessman who has made billions of dollars and is beholden to no one.
But an investigation by The New York Times into the financial maze of Mr. Trump’s real estate holdings in the United States reveals that companies he owns have at least $650 million in debt — twice the amount than can be gleaned from public filings he has made as part of his bid for the White House. The Times’s inquiry also found that Mr. Trump’s fortunes depend deeply on a wide array of financial backers, including one he has cited in attacks during his campaign.
For example, an office building on Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan, of which Mr. Trump is part owner, carries a $950 million loan. Among the lenders: the Bank of China, one of the largest banks in a country that Mr. Trump has railed against as an economic foe of the United States, and Goldman Sachs, a financial institution he has said controls Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee, after it paid her $675,000 in speaking fees.

One of these investments involves an office tower at 1290 Avenue of Americas, near Rockefeller Center. In a typically complex deal, loan documents show that four lenders — German American Capital, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank; UBS Real Estate Securities; Goldman Sachs Mortgage Company; and Bank of China — agreed in November 2012 to lend $950 million to the three companies that own the building. Those companies, obscurely named HWA 1290 III LLC, HWA 1290 IV LLC and HWA 1290 V LLC, are owned by three other companies in which Mr. Trump has stakes.

The Clinton Foundation should not be disbanded!
It does far too much good work.
The members of the Clinton family should take themselves out of the foundation. If still having the Clinton name on it bothers people, rename it The Obama Foundation and let Barack and Michelle Obama run it. 
Gov. Scott’s undisclosed interest – via First Lady – in Zika mosquito control company

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has an undisclosed financial interest in a Zika mosquito control company in which his wife, Florida First Lady Ann Scott, owns a multi-million dollar stake through a private investment firm she co-owns.
The company is Mosquito Control Services LLC of Metairie, LA. According to its web site, MCS “is a fully-certified team of mosquito control experts – licensed throughout the Gulf Coast, including Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.”
On June 23, Gov. Scott signed an executive order allocating $26.2 million in state emergency funds for Zika preparedness, including “mosquito surveillance and abatement, training for mosquito control technicians and enhanced laboratory capacity.”
It is not known whether MCS, whose services include monitoring and aerial spraying, stands to benefit from Florida government funds. Company manager Steven Pavlovich holds an active Florida “public health applicator” license with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services through April 2019, but MCS is not a registered state vendor. The Department of Health contracts with two other two mosquito control vendors.

I may have turned a trump voter!
I was talking to the young man that mows my yard about future things that will be happening at my house. I try to schedule him just before any meetings so the grass is under control and he is getting used to that.
I mentioned we will be doing get out the vote from my house next week and he said he might not vote. I told him he needs to vote and asked who he was thinking of voting for - he said Trump. I asked him as a independent business person (he's trying to start a lawn care business) how he would feel about someone who made a deal for his services, then once the work was done offered 70% or less of the agreed price. He didn't think that was acceptable - I told him Trump has done this over and over and told him how many times Trump has been sued. He was really disturbed about that!
Then he said something about Hillary's lies but when I asked him, he really didn't know any specifics, just general, "She's lied." I told him she really hasn't and talked with him a little about how long Hillary and Bill Clinton have been in the public eye and how many times they have been investigated. Then I mentioned that the only thing that ever stuck was that Bill lied about a blow job. He didn't know that was what Bill Clinton was impeached for and thought it was ridiculous!
He brought up the emails and Benghazi - I reminded him that Benghazi has been investigated five - or is it six - times and the only thing they found to criticize were the emails. Then I told him that if Hillary had used the Department of State computer system she could not have gotten her emails while she was traveling; that the "classified" emails were not sent by her and were not properly labeled.
By the time he left he was really thinking about what I'd told him. I recommended that he really read up on Trump and how Trump treats his contractors and workers - I think that will have the most effect on him as an independent business person.
Oh - and he questioned why Trump would want to be president with how wealthy he was - I told him many don't think Trump is as rich as he claims and discussed how running a campaign could be a money making scam. 
Hopefully he will seriously think about what he heard today.

Anybody signed up for GOTV efforts for the August primary?
I'm not able to get out to help but I've offered the use of my house as a staging point for eastern Leon County for August 27, 28, 29 and 30. I can help coordinate the teams, give them a place to cool off and take breaks, let them have computer access, etc.
The campaign person for this part of the county has no where to let them teams meet, and my house is in a central location. Plus I have the room with tables and chairs.
Anyone here volunteering for GOTV for the primary? PM me if you're in eastern Leon County!
