OMG..have you guys seen the Repub. candidate's Pres. web sites?

Rubio's looks like a team of ADD first graders put it together.
You immediately get hit in the eye with scattered topic boxes....
altho I see the pic of the guy with raised shotgun is not longer aimed at the Repub. elephant.
https://marcorubio.com/

Cruz's site is more professional, the primary impact is of red and blue colors.
He DOES say he " has spent a lifetime fighting to defend the Constitution" which is over the top.
He is 44 and did not graduate from college till he was 25, so I do not equate 20 years of Gov. paid jobs "a lifetime".
https://www.tedcruz.org/

Rand Paul's site is black, with white print and a couple splashes of red, has his pic and a petition to sign:
"Sign this petition to tell President Obama and the Washington Machine to respect the Constitution!"
There is a video box.
But no other info, really.

Huckabee....also with lots of black, and a scroll box outlining his promises..he calls it a pledge.

Rick Perry's website freezes my puter.
Nuff said.

Who else am I missing...?

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry announces via campaign website that he is running for president in 2016.

Warning....video automatically plays when you open the site.
very slick looking site.

Huge lawsuit as result of the Waco Texas mass biker arrests.

Recap: the Waco police arrested 170 people, supposedly all bikers involved in a shooting in a restaurant parking lot.

turns out, many of those arrested were not involved in the shooting, were not in the area of the shooting.
But they ALL had the same arrest warrants, and had their bikes taken by the police, and ALL arrest warrants asked for one million in bail.
And ALL the warrants were signed by a local Justice of the Peace who had NO legal training.

One guy is suing the cops for false arrest, and damages.
The lawsuit details are quite revealing, and serve to point out police over reach.

News source:
In the suit, "Chavez is accused of signing a "fill in the name" warrant he knew lacked individual probable cause and deceiving the Justice of the Peace who signed the criminal complaint. The City of Waco and McLennan county are accused of "caus[ing] the arrest and detention of numerous individuals...regardless of whether or not there was individualized probable cause to arrest and detain a particular individual."http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Biker-Sues-Waco-McLennan-County-Alleges-Unconstitutional-Arrest-Detention-305521171.html

EU regulators tell 11 countries to adopt bank bail-in rules

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Commission on Thursday gave France, Italy and nine other EU countries two months to adopt new EU rules on propping up failed banks or face legal action.

The rules, known as the bank recovery and resolution directive (BRRD), seek to shield taxpayers from having to bail out troubled lenders, forcing creditors and shareholders to contribute to the rescue in a process known as "bail-in".

The Commission drafted the rules in response to the financial crisis which started in 2008, giving the 28 countries in the European Union until the end of last year to apply them.
It said Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Malta, Poland, Romania and Sweden had yet to fall in line.

"If they don't comply within two months, the Commission may decide to refer them to the EU Court of Justice," the EU executive said in a statement, referring to Europe's highest court based in Luxembourg.

So what does this mean????

- 11 countries face legal action if bail-in rules are not enacted within two months
- Bail-in legislation aims at removing state responsibility when banks collapse
- Rules place burden on creditors – among whom depositors are counted
- Austria abolished bank deposit guarantee in April
- “Bail-in regimes” coming globally

Medicare just saved our budget.

Medicare A&B is the closest thing we have to single payer.

Mr. Dixie and I are on Soc. Sec., and we have Medicare.

Mr. Dixie had a slight stroke, it appears, last week, and his doc has been looking for the cause.
So far the heart ultra sound and the carotid artery scan showed nothing, so a brain MRI is scheduled for Friday.

As I do with all tests, I called the clinic to get the price for the MRI.
I also did an internet search for test prices for brain MRI.
Fun fact:
In looking at national pricing, I found that Vancouver Wa. charges, as of 2014, ....$209.00
whereas the most expensive price was $5, 215 in UCSF Med. Center SF.

So, the Medicare Billing office at our local hospital that does the test tells me it will cost ....1500.00.
This is a bit higher than national average, but Medicare will pay it, they assure me.

Our out of pocket cost is....90.00 for co-pay.

We HAVE to start working on affordable single payer, we just have to. So many people are crushed by too expensive medical bills.

another thought.....medical providers are a bit taken aback by requests for billing charges prior to service.
That is a process that needs to change.

Edited to add:
If you want to negotiate prices with your medical providers, this is a very helpful web page:

Fascinating:......61% of Millennials get political news from Facebook

60% of Baby Boomers get news from local TV,

Gen Xers, who bridge the age gap between Millennials (ages 18-33 at the time of the 2014 survey) and Baby Boomers (ages 50-68), also bridge the gap between these news sources. Roughly half (51%) of online Gen Xers get political and government news on Facebook in a given week and about half (46%) do so on local TV.

Roughly a quarter (24%) of Millennials who use Facebook say at least half of the posts they see on the site relate to government and politics, higher than both Gen Xers (18%) and Baby Boomers (16%) who use the social networking site.
