Turns out, Liberty Univ. is same as Trump Univ.

I'd read some time back about the questionable finances of Liberty. Now it is revealed that WE are
paying for the courses.
It's a diploma mill, pure and simple.

while the college boasts an in-person enrollment of 15,500, it enrolls as many as 95,000 remote students in a given year. It’s the nation’s second-largest online college after the for-profit behemoth University of Phoenix.

Snip..........By 2017, Liberty students were receiving more than $772 million in total aid from the Department of Education — nearly $100 million of it in the form of Pell grants and the rest in federal student loans.
Among universities nationwide, it ranked sixth in federal aid.
Liberty students also received Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, some $42 million in 2016, the most recent year for which figures are available.
Although some of that money went to textbooks and nontuition expenses, a vast majority of Liberty’s total revenue that year, which was just above $1 billion, came from taxpayer-funded sources.

Snip........Two recruiters told me they were instructed to quote L.U.O.’s cost on a per-credit basis,
rather than per-course, which makes it sound more affordable.
Undergraduate courses for part-time students are $455 per credit, or $1,365 for a typical course; master’s courses are typically about $600 per credit.
They are instructed not to press prospective applicants too hard on their academic qualifications.
Applicants have to submit past transcripts, but any grade point average above 0.5 — equivalent to a D-minus — would suffice, said the former employee in the nonmilitary division. Recruiters, he told me, “would say, ‘Congratulations, you’ve been accepted.’ They’d make it seem competitive.”

And here's the money shot:
a 2013 audit of Liberty found that, while it raked in $749 million in tuition and fees,
it spent just $260 million on instruction, student support, and financial services.

Meet the real Bannon:

Bannon was arrested with 3 others, all involved in the Wall scam.

One of the "others" is a guy names Andrew Badolato.( Interesting name...a lot of bad indeed)
Badoloto and Bannon have been running many schemes since 2003.

It all has to do with Sarasota, Fl.

Badolato’s past includes:

* numerous lawsuits,
*substantial monetary judgments and sizeable Internal Revenue Service liens filed against him;
*business dealings with convicted felons for stock-related fraud;
*an extortion attempt after he borrowed money from a self-described mobster that led to him wearing a wire for he FBI;
*an association with a Costa Rican offshore firm that was called a “money laundering hub” by the Justice Department;
*and sexual assault allegations made by three women over a period of four years.

Bannon and Badolato have been in at least three failed penny-stock ventures together, and Bannon was once removed from a Sarasota County company’s board for his relationship with Badolato.
In 2010, Badolato formed a company listing Bannon as a board member alongside an attorney named L.B. Moon, who was barred from practicing law by the Oklahoma Supreme Court for threatening to kill an adversary, place his body in a shredder and have his daughter raped.

Much detail in this article, I urge folks to read it, and esp. the links therein to 2 other articles about them.

My favorite part in the above article is:

Oklahoma attorney Lewis B. Moon — a former football player for the Miami Dolphins whom Badolato claimed was a “lifetime member of the national association of the Boy Scouts.”
Moon has been arrested multiple times and was banned from practicing law by the Oklahoma Supreme Court, which called him an “embarrassment to the legal profession” after finding “convincing evidence” that he falsely identified himself as an ATF agent, engaged in shooting firearms while intoxicated, attempted to extort money and assaulted a fellow lawyer. He then threatened to kill the lawyer and have five men rape and kill his “pretty” daughter.

Bet you won't be surprised at how dirty the Wall Scam contractor is....

Fischer Industries is a child company of Fisher Sand and Gravel:

Fisher Sand and Gravel peeps have quite a history.

Despite their award being repeatedly contested, and the company’s history of criminal tax evasion, pollution citations, environmental fines, and a former CEO charged with child pornography, Bannon’s privately funded campaign chose their firm to build the wall.

David William Fisher, who was the foreman at Fisher Sand and Gravel and chairman of the Dickinson United Methodist Church’s administrative council, pleaded guilty in 2005 to child pornography charges.

Snip.......
Michael Fisher, a former co-owner of Fisher Sand and Gravel, was sentenced to 37 months in prison, fined $90,000 and ordered to pay $307,069 in restitution after pleading guilty to “conspiracy to defraud the United States by impeding the IRS, four counts of aiding in the filing of false federal tax returns for FSG, and four counts of filing false individual tax returns.”

Snip.....
chief financial officer Amiel Schaff pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States.
A year later, in May 2009, FSG’s former comptroller Clyde Frank plead guilty to the same charge.
FSG was also charged in the superseding indictment with conspiracy to defraud the United States...

Snip......
Fisher Industries Paid $150,000 to Settle a Sexual Discrimination & Retaliation Suit in 2011.
Snip.......The High Plains Reader has documented environmental violations and tax evasion by the company, including 169 citations and paying $1 million in air quality violation fines in Maricopa County, Arizona over the past 10 years.

If you wondering what Steven Miller saw in his new bride, look no further...

Vanity Fair has the answer...and in some ways, she is worse than he is.

Edited to add: I totally agree with this assessment of a college classmate of hers:

A college classmates I spoke with; one says that “I genuinely believe there’s something wrong with her. She lacks a moral compass and [demonstrates] elements of a sociopath.”

“The only thing she loves or values in this world is power. Anyone she attaches to in her life is simply a pawn to feed her addiction to it.” After all, even Goebbels was a ladies’ man. Accounts from her high school and college years bring into focus a woman with charm and energy—she had YOLO tattooed inside her lower lip—but it was always trained toward power. These people recall how Waldman cut corners, employed dirty, even illegal tricks, and laughed as she got away with it. Accounts from more recent colleagues add detail to the portrait—one not of a counterbalance to Miller, but rather of a powerful reinforcement. A Washington media flack who’s rapidly ascended—from Capitol Hill to the Department of Homeland Security to the vice president’s office—she can display a bright, even friendly manner, but behind the scenes, acquaintances say she can be ruthless and underhanded, and at times has seemed callous about the suffering of others.

I re-watched the first episode of the West Wing just now

It's on Netflix.

Haven't re-watched it for years. The characters are just as real as I remembered them, the show is unabashedly heart tugging, the Sorkin lines remain as terrific as when he penned them.

So now I'm dropping tears into my water glass at a pretty steady rate, feeling so very sad over where we are today.

Sometimes the sadness and tears have to come and then go before I can get recharged with anger and determination
again.

Jus' sharing....

DHS compiled 'intelligence reports' using *baseball cards *on journalists

The baseball cards are what the military used to hunt al Qaeda terrorists and Saddam Hussein & co
now used on protestors and reporters.

The Department of Homeland Security has compiled “intelligence reports” about the work of American journalists covering protests in Portland, Ore., in what current and former officials called an alarming use of a government system meant to share information about suspected terrorists and violent actors.

Over the past week, the department’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis has disseminated three Open Source Intelligence Reports to federal law enforcement agencies and others, summarizing tweets written by two journalists — a reporter for the New York Times and the editor in chief of the blog Lawfare — and noting they had published leaked, unclassified documents about DHS operations in Portland. The intelligence reports, obtained by The Washington Post, include written descriptions and images of the tweets and the number of times they had been liked or retweeted by others.

Some of the leaked DHS documents the journalists posted and wrote about revealed shortcomings in the department’s understanding of the nature of the protests in Portland, as well as techniques that intelligence analysts have used. A memo by the department’s top intelligence official, which was tweeted by the editor of Lawfare, says personnel relied on “FINTEL,” an acronym for financial intelligence, as well as finished intelligence “Baseball cards” of arrested protesters to try to understand their motivations and plans. Historically, military and intelligence officials have used such cards for biographical dossiers of suspected terrorists, including those targeted in lethal drone strikes.
