LOL! - Tommy Thompson BLAMES WIFE For His Lobbying Career: SHE LIKES TO SHOP’

POOR WIFE!......

Former Gov. Tommy Thompson, a Wisconsin Republican running for Senate, recently suggested that his wife was to blame for his decision to end his career in public service and join a lobbying firm because she “likes to shop.”

“I left the government after four years, after George Bush got elected the second time,” Thompson told supporters at a recent campaign stop, according to video posted by Blogging Blue on Thursday.

“And my wife likes to shop. Okay?” he explained. “And she said, ‘You know, Tommy, you have been in politics for 38 years. Why don’t you go out and see if you can make some decent money so I can go shopping without having to put everything on a credit card.’”

The Republican candidate reported earlier this year that he had about $13 million in assets.

“I make no apologies whatsoever. I’m lucky and I’m blessed and I’m very happy,” he said in a January interview. “People forget, you know, about where I came from. They look at this [financial report] and say, ‘Oh my God.’ ”

During a campaign event last month, the former Wisconsin governor forgot how many homes he owned.
“Three,” Thompson confidently stated, according to the Journal Sentinel. After being pressed about a fourth home, Thompson said he was sure there were only three: a farm in Elroy, Wisconsin; a house in Madison, Wisconsin; and a 10,889-square-foot home near Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Why It Was an HONOR to Vote for Obama for a Second Term

Looking forward to a fantastic second term with our re-elected President Obama.

Politicususa:

I’ve already voted. I voted for President Obama. That’s probably a given, since I am neither insane or misinformed. However, I didn’t do it with less enthusiasm than I would have in 2008. I did it with more. This is the only time in my lifetime that I’ve had this kind of reaction to a President, though I voted happily for Clinton both times. This is different. Obama is my kind of leader. He is the President I would have created were I given the opportunity. He is all that a great leader should be. He is a big person, not prone to pettiness. He put this on display by reaching out to Chris Christie who had been bashing him on the trail. A strong leader should be guided by principle over personal grievances. Obama has shown that he is over and over again.

Obama has the temperament of a brilliant leader. He walks softly but carries a big stick. He treats disagreement as a challenge and opportunity instead of something to be shut down. He conducts himself with the grace of forgiveness and the power of someone who believes that injustice must not stand. Obama remembers where he came from and he carries those understandings to his shaping of domestic policy. He believes in the American dream and values hard work and opportunity. He is the personification of the American dream, in fact. He knows he didn’t build that on his own. As a woman, the fact that the Obama administration has done more for women’s rights than any other moves me. But I also notice how he treats his wife and girls. I see the respect he has for his equally brilliant wife. I see a man who married up, proudly (by up I refer to her strength and intelligence, not economic status or beauty though she does have the latter to spare).

Maybe part of my feelings for this president come from an inherent understanding of the way he thinks because it’s similar to the way I think (similar but much more brilliant. I am no strategist, for instance). I can see where he’s going in advance and I find myself laughing at how he brings others along while the media buys the narrative that he just came to this idea, when I’m pretty sure he didn’t. A few examples – the media has bought that Obama hasn’t done much for left wing causes, but they clearly have no idea what he buried in the stimulus package – a veritable gift basket of liberal goodies that explains why the right hates it so much. Addressing climate change, rebuilding infrastructure, and more. Shhhh, don’t tell anyone. While others believe that he just came around to gay rights, I suspect he was already there. If you read his books, he talks about his ability to position people. Take that along with his belief that the people need to demand the change, that his is how government should work, and you have a recipe for a leader who offered himself up as the example of the reluctant to the party but now glad to be there guest. In reality, Obama has a long history of very liberal beliefs that he smartly hides beneath a centrist style of governing and a fiscally responsible approach to the budget.

And perhaps that is why I enjoy him so much. I am not a strategist and I’m terrible at playing politics. To see a charismatic leader take liberal ideology and cleverly embed it into our cultural beliefs, thereby making permanent change instead of reactionary change, is just breath taking. Obama mainstreams liberal beliefs. He makes the public cry with him, yes, tax the rich! Yes, gay marriage! Yes, feed the poor! Yes, women’s rights! Yes, end the wars! All the while, he never gives away the game. He genuinely extends his hand across the aisle so that his own party is angry, only feeding the narrative that he needs for cover. He tried. He tried so hard. And he does try, and he does offer olive branches the left doesn’t like, but he does so with an eye to balance and pragmatism. Still, it’s good optics if you’re paying attention. He leaves the obstructionists with no cover.

Twitter PRANKSTER Reveals CNN As A Journalistic JOKE And Lands Himself In Hot Water

For about a third of the country, Hurricane Sandy will live forever as one of the biggest and most destructive storms to ever hit the US, at least up until this point. History will also remember Sandy as the storm that hit the hub of both media and commerce. During the storm, information was flying faster than Grandma’s hat. It’s understandable that there would be confusion, but when so-called legitimate news sources, like CNN, present a single Tweet as news, it demonstrates a problem that is far larger than the storm. It demonstrates that we have a very lazy media.

It all began when Twitter user, @ComfortablySmug posted this Tweet.

The National Weather Service, The Weather Channel and CNN all picked up the Tweet and ran with it. The problem was it wasn’t true. Any first year journalism student would be shocked that a news network like CNN would use an anonymous, unverified source. Any 11-year-old knows that the Twitterverse does have some useful information but it’s also full of people who simply make s#&* up. The day of the storm was certainly a media circus, but one would think that it would be relatively easy to find at least one source who could verify the story, preferably with pics.

GOP TO FACTS: DROP DEAD

Thugs R' Us......

Republicans Squash Nonpartisan Report That Debunks Tax Mythology

Congressional Research Service Report On Tax Cuts For Wealthy Suppressed By GOP

The New York Times reported on Thursday that Senate Republicans applied pressure to the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS) in September, successfully persuading it to withdraw a report finding that lowering marginal tax rates for the wealthiest Americans had no effect on economic growth or job creation. "The pressure applied to the research service comes amid a broader Republican effort to raise questions about research and statistics that were once trusted as nonpartisan and apolitical," the Times reported. Democrats in Congress, however, have resurfaced the report and published it in full. It can be read below.

Republicans told the Times they had issues with the tone, wording and scope of the report, but they clearly objected most strongly to its findings, which undermine the governing fiscal philosophy of the party, that tax cuts for the wealthy will spur growth and benefit everybody. GOP officials told The Times that the decision by the CRS came after a cooperative discussion, but Democrats have suggested that the move is part of a broader effort by Republicans to squelch legitimate research that runs counter to their economic principles.

The CRS report, by researcher Thomas Hungerford, concluded:

The results of the analysis suggest that changes over the past 65 years in the top marginal tax rate and the top capital gains tax rate do not appear correlated with economic growth. The reduction in the top tax rates appears to be uncorrelated with saving, investment, and productivity growth. The top tax rates appear to have little or no relation to the size of the economic pie.

However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution. As measured by IRS data, the share of income accruing to the top 0.1% of U.S. families increased from 4.2% in 1945 to 12.3% by 2007 before falling to 9.2% due to the 2007-2009 recession. At the same time, the average tax rate paid by the top 0.1% fell from over 50% in 1945 to about 25% in 2009. Tax policy could have a relation to how the economic pie is sliced—lower top tax rates may be associated with greater income disparities.

Rep. Sandy Levin of Michigan, the top Democrat on the Ways and Means Committee, demanded the CRS explain its decision. "The impartial research and advice provided by CRS experts informs and strengthens the work of Congress. However, this valuable role hinges on the impartiality of CRS analysts and their freedom from political pressure. As with other non-partisan institutions, subjecting CRS analysts to political considerations undermines the legislative process and the American people’s trust in it," Levin wrote in a letter to CRS. "Therefore I was deeply disturbed to hear that Mr. Hungerford’s report was taken down in response to political pressure from Congressional Republicans who had ideological objections to the report’s factual findings and conclusion."

Larry Flynt Offers $1 MILLION For Proof That Pregnancy From RAPE Is "Something That God Intended"

Having already offered $1 million for information on Mitt Romney's taxes, Flynt puts another million up for..

...any verifiable transcript of your personal conversations with God; letters, email, text messages or videos from God, or messages addressed to you from God transmitted by any third party, including the Republican National Committee or the Romney/Ryan campaign."

This ad is, obviously, much more of a pure publicity stunt than the Romney ad (though Flynt apparently hasn't received the financial information he was seeking—we'd know if he did). I think we can assume that if Murdock does receive confirmation from God by the deadline, he won't then be contacting Flynt.

(Another) ANTI-GAY GOP Candidate EXPOSED As Pedophile, Indicted On 113 Charges

FAMILY VALUES GOP WEASEL!

It’s almost a cliche at this point: Conservative candidate declares how much he hates “The Gay” as a way to prove just how much of a family man he his. Family values are important, don’tcha know? Vote for me! I hate gays and I believe in protecting our children!

So he can molest them, instead.

Such is the story of Eric Bodenweiser, front runner for State Senator in Delware. Via Washington Blade:

The indictment includes 113 felony sex charges, including 39 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse — first-degree and 74 counts of unlawful sexual contact — second-degree. Although the indictment doesn’t identify the gender of the victim, the Gape Gazette identified the victim as a boy who allegedly was sexually abused by Bodenweiser between Oct. 1, 1987 and Aug. 31, 1990 when he was between the ages of 10 and 13.

http://www.washingtonblade.com/2012/10/30/del-gop-candidate-indicted-on-sex-with-minor-charges/

The real story here isn’t that the GOP has yet another pedophile in its ranks, the Democratic Party has had some as well. The take away from this is the artificial nature of the GOP’s opposition to homosexuality. It seems that every other week, another secretly gay Republican comes tumbling out of the closet or another “pro-family” right winger turns out to be a sexual predator.

This is a clear indication that the GOP demands conformity on this issue regardless of how the candidate or elected official actually feels. The idea that a pedophile can look at homosexuality and declare that being gay is a threat to children is laughable. That a gay politician must vocally condemn his own sexual preference while hiding it from the public is sad beyond words.

In both cases, it is absolutely mandatory to follow the party line. This quashing of dissent or reasonable discourse reveals that the GOP’s “hatred” of homosexuals is nothing but a political ploy to enrage religious bigots. They don’t really care about sexual orientation outside of the votes such intolerance can get them.

BULLSHIT QUEEN: Michele Bachmann’s Campaign Filings DISPROVE Her Job Creator Claims

SPREAD THE NEWS!!

Who Does Michele Bachmann Represent?

Rep. Bachmann 6th (MN) just released a new ad ironically called “Michele Is Here,” with the opening line, “She’s here every week fighting for Minnesota jobs because she’s a job creator, too. Michele Bachmann is here.”

Her campaign committee’s financial statements paint a very different picture.

Total operating expenditures ~ $6,697,871

Out-of-state operating expenditures ~ $5,916,046

In-state operating expenditures ~ $781,825

6th District operating expenditures to all companies ~ $184,225

6th District operating expenditures for locally owned businesses ~ $70,222

The percentage of the money spent is even more telling.

Out of state expenditures were 88.33%.

In state expenditures were 11.67%.

6th District expenditures for locally owned small businesses were 1%.

Job creation comes from demand, from consumers spending money with local small businesses. Not only is Michele Bachmann spending her supporters’ hard earned money out of her district, she is being less than truthful with her messaging to her constituents. Rep. Bachmann is a fundraising phenomenon and FEC filings show why she is one of the top fundraisers in the House. Why? She uses consultants and fundraising specialists who are very good at it, but also very expensive. Fundraising costs below include consultants, list rentals, postage, printing, fundraising fees and numerous other expenses:

Total fundraising expenses $6,072,458

Out of state fundraising expenses $5,655,631

In state fundraising expenses $416,827

6th District fundraising expenses for locally owned businesses $46,144.

Once again the percentage of where the money was spent is even more telling.

Out of state expenditures were 93.13%.

In state expenditures were 6.87%.

6th District expenditures for locally owned small businesses were .7 of 1%.

While there is no way to exactly figure how much it costs her campaign for every dollar that is raised until the final filings are done, a reasonable estimate would be that her campaign fundraising is roughly spending 65-75 cents for every dollar it raises. While the 6th District is only about 145 miles long, the amount of money her campaign spent in the last two years belies her “local job creator status”. According to the documents her treasurer Daniel Puhl filed with the FEC, here is where they spent their travel money:

Out of state expenditures: $194,070

In state expenditures: $36,327

6th District expenditures $10,919
