Bernie Sanders Cites Wisconsin JOB LOSSES From BAD Trade Deals

PRESS RELEASE

Sanders Cites Wisconsin Job Losses from Bad Trade Deals

MARCH 30TH, 2016

KENOSHA, Wis. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday tied major plant closures and job losses in Wisconsin to trade policies that he opposed and Hillary Clinton supported.

At a rally ahead of next Tuesday’s Democratic presidential primary, the Vermont senator said disastrous trade policies like the North American Free Trade Agreement and Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China are a major factor in the shuttering of nearly 60,000 factories and the loss of 4.7 million manufacturing jobs in the United States since 2001, including more than 113,000 lost jobs in Wisconsin.

“Over the last 35 years, we have had trade policies written by corporate America designed to allow companies to shut down plants in Wisconsin and Vermont and all over this country” Sanders told a rally at Carthage College. “They’d rather move to Mexico and pay people pennies an hour.”

For example, here in Kenosha, Chrysler received an $8 billion bailout in 2009 but then shut down the Kenosha Engine Plant and cut 800 decent-paying jobs. The carmaker moved the plant to Saltillo, Mexico, where workers are paid a fraction of what they made in Wisconsin.

In 2008, General Motors shuttered its manufacturing plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, eliminating more than 2,800 good-paying jobs when it moved to Silao, Mexico, where workers are paid one-tenth of what the workers in Janesville made.

Strattec Security, with headquarters in Milwaukee, announced in January that it would build a manufacturing plant for car door handles, not in Wisconsin, but in Leon, Mexico.

Briggs & Stratton, once Wisconsin’s largest private employer with 11,000 manufacturing workers, has moved plants to Mexico and China and today has only has about 2,500 workers in the Badger State.

In his speech to 2,500 supporters at the college here, Sanders also called for reforming the corrupt campaign finance system that props up the rigged economy. He said he would reform criminal justice system, expand Social Security, provide tuition-free higher education at public colleges and universities and create universal Medicare-for-all health care.

He criticized Clinton’s reliance on super PACs, which he said raised $25 million in special interest funds, including $15 million in campaign contributions from Wall Street, during the last half of last year. “We don’t represent Wall Street. We don’t represent the drug companies or the fossil fuel industry. We don’t want their money,” said Sanders.

He also faulted Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for his attacks on labor unions, cuts to education and support of a voter ID law in an attempt to keep voter turnout low. “Let’s show the governor that his efforts to suppress the vote have not worked,” Sanders said.

Bernie and Hillary PREP For NEW YORK CLASH

"...On Monday, de Blasio appeared to scoff at a comment made by Clinton senior strategist Joel Benenson, who told reporters on a conference call that he expected Sanders to campaign “like a Brooklynite,” in contrast to Clinton, who would campaign in New York like a senator. “I assume the phrase campaigning like a Brooklynite is a compliment,” de Blasio said at a news conference, the latest in a series of off-message moments from the mayor whose personal beliefs seem to mirror those of Sanders more than those of the candidate he ultimately endorsed..."

“You’ll see all three Clintons, as well as surrogates, aggressively campaigning throughout the state,” said Clinton spokeswoman Karen Finney. Clinton is beginning the push on Wednesday, with an organizing event at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Sanders operatives said they were trying to get him to town as early as Thursday. The Clinton campaign has held more than a dozen organizing events across the state over the past week to sign up volunteers, and it created a dozen “campus teams” at colleges and universities, a campaign aide said. Clinton also plans to stage a greatest hits tour of her work here as senator. “You’re going to hear from the wives and husbands of firefighters and police officers who know what she did around Zadroga,” said former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who sits on Clinton’s New York leadership council, referring to legislation passed in Congress that provides aid to sick 9/11 first responders and their families.

In recent weeks, Clinton has been shifting to a general election message with hefty speeches on the Supreme Court and foreign policy. But the competitive race in New York will thrust her right back into the domestic issues that have dominated the primary. Clinton operatives said the campaign plans to make a big push on gun safety issues in the city. Meanwhile, Sanders operatives said they will highlight his blanket opposition to fracking, which New York banned in 2015; continue his anti-Wall Street crusade; and play up his fight for a $15 minimum wage, which Clinton has not backed nationally. Sanders aides said they also plan to dispatch high profile African-American surrogates like Harry Belafonte, Cornel West, Spike Lee and Erica Garner — the daughter of Eric Garner, who was killed in an illegal police chokehold while selling loose cigarettes in Staten Island in 2014 — to campaign for them. And they said they have been focusing on Latino outreach in New York City.

Sanders, the son of Jewish immigrants who grew up in a tenement in Brooklyn, is also hoping to undercut Clinton’s New York ties — his staffers casually point out that New York is technically Clinton’s third and adopted home state, and there is a grass-roots movement here ready to support him. But the days of Clinton being accused of carpetbagging and donning a Yankees cap for political convenience have been replaced with memories of her standing up for her New York in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, local Democrats said.

“New York is Clinton country,” said Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf, who is unaffiliated with either campaign. “But if she slips in New York by not winning big, Secretary Clinton will have lots to explain to Democrats, and Republicans will have a great day.”

Clinton is pulling in all her old allies to help win the local fight. American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten, a former president of New York’s local teachers union branch, spent the past week talking to her own members and leaders in Albany and the Hudson Valley about the stakes of the election. New York State United Teachers, the United Federation of Teachers' state affiliate, is planning to open nine offices across the state for phone banking and canvassing. “The issue in New York is that people just assume because they know her they assume that she’ll be fine,” said Weingarten. “The New York campaign is a reminder that the person who was our senator is the person who’s running for president. It’s a reminder of that person who had great compassion and for the first responders on 9/11; the person who did whatever she could to rebuild infrastructure in Buffalo; the person who fought to lower class size and fought to not have testing be front and center in education. That is the person who is running.” To counter the powerful UFT and all of the state’s elected officials who will be backing Clinton, Sanders is counting on the Amalgamated Transit Union and the Communication Workers of America to help him mobilize voters.

WikiLeaks’ Hillary Clinton EMAILS Show Rothschild, Rockefeller Partnership

attribution: by AnonWatcher

Intelligence

“I was trying to reach you to tell you and Teddy that I asked Tony Blair to go to Israel as part of our full court press on keeping the Middle East negotiations going…”

It is one of the many emails between Hillary Clinton and the de Rothschild family, displaying Clinton’s admiration for the power elite. According to The Free Thought Project, who discovered this connection, WikiLeaks’ trove of personal emails sent from her personal server provides hints at a potential “Rockefeller-State partnership.” Clinton’s unwavering admiration for the families, and emails between her and Lynn Forester de Rothschild offer an insight into their partnerships. The Rothschild banking family respond to Clinton’s arrangement for Blair to go to the Middle East in 2010, saying,

“You are the best, and we remain your biggest fans.”

UNITED KINGDOM – JULY 04: Hillary Clinton And Lady De Rothschild, Lynn De Rothschild’s Party For Hillary Clinton, To Celebrate The Launch Of Her Book “Living History” At The Orangery, Kensington Palace, London (Photo by Dave Benett/Getty Images) In another email, months prior to this, Lynn Forester Rothschild wrote Hillary Clinton saying she’d “love to catch up” – and “I remain your loyal adoring pal.” Clinton responds with a “let’s make that happen,” but admits to a busy schedule. It doesn’t stop there with only personal niceties. An email dated March 10, 2012, details a Rockerfeller-State partnership, with an insight into Clinton’s future.

“I forgot to tell you that Judith Rodin offered you a suite of offices after you leave State for your own use at Rockefeller Fdtn, if you’re interested –with no strings attached. She also said they’d be happy to provide you with a month at their center in Bellagio if you just want to read and write in a beautiful place.”

Nothing within the emails is overly-damning. But, it does offer an insight into Clinton as the favorite of two elite families, giving some credence to the ‘chosen candidate’ theory, that the FreeThoughtProject discusses. The emails also show content about media, and content control. One email in particular stands out, discussing a day-in-the-life article to sway readers with ‘fluff’ material – between L F de Rothschild and Clinton.

“He said he would give you a veto over content and looked me in the eye and said, “she will like it.” Maybe you know this, but did not want it to fall between the cracks. Enjoy your vacation and love to all of you.”

At the very least, concrete establishment roots?

Bernie Sanders Likely To GAIN 2-6 Net Delegates in AZ

The purpose of this diary is not to comment on the voter suppression in Arizona. (It is my opinion that this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed, possibly by allowing late voting). I just wanted to point out that in the days since the AZ primary, Sanders has quietly closed the gap.

On the night of the election, news agencies reported that Clinton had won 59.1%-40.9% (ignoring other candidates). Indeed, sources continue to report those numbers. And on the basis of these numbers, sources project that Clinton netted 13 delegates in AZ (44-31).

However, as the provisional ballots have been counted, Sanders has slowly improved his numbers. Sanders has added 26,187 votes — while Clinton has added 24,806. Thus, the new total stands at 57.9%-42.1%. Sanders’ gains have been strongest in Maricopa County (i.e. Phoenix) and Pima County (i.e. Tucson). In both of these counties, Sanders has gained 1.4%. It remains to be seen how many more votes will be added.

The reason these small gains are so important is that Hillary Clinton just barely won three delegates (or more accurately, she was barely projected to win those delegates).

* In CD-1 she received 58.73% of the vote as reported on election night — just surpassing the threshold of 58.33% required to win 4-2

* In CD-2 she received 57.22% of the vote as reported on election night — just surpassing the threshold of 56.25% required to win 5-3

* In CD-6 she received 60.35% of the vote as reported on election night — just surpassing the threshold of 58.33% required to win 4-2

It remains to be seen exactly how much Sanders improved in each of these congressional districts (and how much more he will continue to improve), but these three congressional districts include parts of Maricopa and Pima counties. As such, Sanders is highly likely to gain at least one delegate (a net gain of 2, since she loses one). In fact, he will probably net four delegates — and possibly even six.

Bernie Sanders Welcomes Clinton AGREEMENT on New York DEBATE

PRESS RELEASE

Sanders Welcomes Clinton Agreement on New York Debate

MARCH 29TH, 2016

MILWAUKEE – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday welcomed Hillary Clinton’s agreement to debate him in New York before the state’s April 19 primary election.

“Let’s do it,” Sanders said on CNN.

After her campaign opposed a New York debate for over a month, Clinton told reporters at a campaign stop in La Crosse, Wisconsin, that she was open to the idea of debating Sanders in Brooklyn.

The Sanders campaign hailed the development as a victory for Democratic voters everywhere and for New York voters in particular.

The Clinton campaign’s earlier position was that the April debate agreed upon by both campaigns should be held after the New York primary. In recent days, one Clinton operative suggested the debate might not happen at all if Sanders did not change his “tone.”

The Sanders campaign has consistently pushed for a debate in New York to be held prior to the April 19 primary election.
