" Actor Morgan Freeman is crossing his fingers that President Obama wins another term.
I think that we did a really good thing when we elected Barack Obama, Freeman said on Tavis Smiley on Tuesday. He is absolutely and totally qualified for the job. He has proven himself to be not only qualified for the job, but very good at it. The things that hes managed to get accomplished in the face of so much pushback is amazing.
The Shawshank Redemption star added, And I think -- this is Morgan Freeman's personal thought -- were going to be in a lot of trouble if we don't re-elect him because people on the other side of the fence scare me.
Freeman was also asked about getting into hot water last year for suggesting that the tea party is motivated by racism.
I dont care, he said. I dont have anybody telling me what to say.

" Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), a libertarian hero, last year said that allowing Social Security to exist is akin to permitting slavery. But during an appearance on MSNBCs Morning Joe today, Paul admitted to the Huffington Posts Sam Stein that he collects Social Security checks anyway.
- Paul is, of course, not the only conservative to benefit from government programs that he or she opposes. But his crankish view of the Constitution has brought him to the conclusion that Social Security is altogether unconstitutional, which also hasnt stopped him from collecting benefits.

" Romney recently suggested that a good guide to his policy on Israel would be to "just look at the things the president has done and do the opposite." Adam Chandler makes a list of what this would entail.
During a speech this weekend to the Faith and Freedom Coalition, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney drew applause and laughter from the group when he answered a question about what he would do to strengthen the relationship between Israel and the United States and how he would handle Iran. He said:
... I think, by and large, you can just look at the things the president has done and do the opposite...
What the sweet, guffawing crowd missed in Romneys politely lame dig at Obamas policies on Israel and Iran was the opportunity to take him at his word. So lets imagine. What would the opposite of Obamas actions since 2009 vis-à-vis Israel and Iran look like? Heres the list.
Romneys Israel/Iran To-Do List: January 20, 2013
- Take the military option against Iran off the table.
- Proclaim boldly and often that an Iranian nuclear weapon is acceptable and sponsor a policy of containment.
- Unravel the labyrinthine, biting international sanctions against Iran.
- Suspend or condemn attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists.
- Stop engaging in cyberattacks against the Iranian nuclear program.
- Reframe Irans nuclear program as strictly an Israeli national security concern.
- Decrease military aid to Israel from its highest-ever apex.
- Dismantle the unprecedented military and intelligence cooperation between the U.S. and Israel.
- Ask Israel to reimburse the United States for the Iron Dome program.
- Endorse the original Goldstone Report on the Gaza War.
- Vote for Palestinian statehood at the United Nations
Endorse every anti-Israel resolution placed before the United Nations Human Rights Council.
- Demand Israeli apology for the Turkish flotilla incident.
- Promote Holocaust denial and delegitimize Israel in a speech to the Arab World.
- Request rampant settlement expansion to drive a stake through the heart of a two-state solution.

Willard ' The Lying Chump ' Romney.
" CNN contributor and Newsweek columnist John Avlon on Tuesday accused Mitt Romney of lying about vetting Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) to be his running mate.
Sources close to the Romney campaign told ABC News on Monday that Rubio was not being vetted, suggesting Romney had no interested in picking him as his vice presidential candidate. But on Tuesday, Romney declared that Rubio was being thoroughly vetted as part of our process.
He was trying to clean up a political mess, Avlon said. Because someone told the truth and it was an unnecessary insult and it was causing real problems for the campaign. This is political.....
So you think he really isnt vetting Rubio? CNNs Erin Burnett asked.
Rule number one: Everybody lies, Avlon responded. This is that going down.
He noted the news was leaked on the day Rubios book was released, calling it an intentional shot at the Florida senator.

" A trio of West Virginia Democrats will not attend the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte to formally renominate President Obama this summer.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, Sen. Joe Manchin and Rep. Nick Rahall do not plan to attend the convention, according to state party chairman Larry Puccio, who released the state's convention delegation list today in accordance with party rules.
West Virginia's senior senator, Jay Rockefeller, will attend, the state party.
Obama is highly unpopular in West Virginia, a fact most recently reflected in the state's May 8 presidential primary where a federal inmate won over 40% of the vote against him. Manchin in particular has sought distance from the president. In April, Manchin said he was not committed to supporting Obama's re-election.
"I intend to spend this fall focused on the people of West Virginia, whether that's representing them in my official U.S. Senate duties or here at home, where I can hear about their concerns and ideas to solve the problems of this great nation," Manchin said in a statement regarding his decision to skip the convention. "I will remain focused on bringing people together for the next generation, not the next election. "
Rahall's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Highlight reel of Republican push-back against the new policy.
Rethug Heads are exploding over Obama's Immigration announcement ...
Why Dems Are Delighted
GOP Falling Into Obamas Trap On Immigration
President Obamas executive decision to grant immunity to a select group of undocumented immigrants is provoking hostility from Republicans, much to the delight of Democrats. The president is already enjoying gains among Hispanics in polling, and his campaign has reason to hope the fallout will clarify to this key voting bloc which candidate is on their side ahead of the election. For Mitt Romney, the chasm between Hispanics and his anti-immigration conservative base is already proving to be unbridgeable and its only growing.
In floor speeches and media appearances Monday, House Republicans channeled the misgivings of conservatives, excoriating Obamas policy decision as an imperial move that shows a lack of respect for the rule of law. At least one member of Congress has already threatened to sue to block it....
Although the prime directive from GOP leaders has been to focus on the process and timing of Obamas administrative shift, it has been difficult for some rank-and-file members to refrain from going after the substance. For instance, Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX) argued that some minors brought to the U.S. by their parents knowingly broke the law and should be held accountable. Well, you are also talking about people that came over at 16 years of age, Farenthold told CNN. At that point you had a say in it and that looks more like amnesty.
Romney has so far dodged the substance of Obamas decision, which opens the door to two-year work authorization for illegal immigrants under 30 who were brought to the U.S. as children and meet certain criteria, such as having attained higher education or serving in the military. He has refused to say if hed reverse the decision as president, which hes already facing pressure from the right to pledge to do. Romneys former opponent and now-surrogate Rick Santorum said Sunday that his partys nominee is trying to walk the line on the issue so as to avoid appearing hostile to Latinos......

" On Monday morning, President Barack Obama received an endorsement from one of the most influential Hispanic TV personalities of all time, Cristina Saralegui.
Originally from Cuba, Saralegui came to the U.S. with her family when she was 12 years-old. Often referred to as the "Latina Oprah," she became a household name with her Miami-based Spanish-language talk show, "El Show de Cristina," where she hosted guests including Selena, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Gloria Trevi and other big names in the entertainment business. Her empire includes her talk show, which has won 11 Emmys and an estimated 100 million viewers worldwide, a Miami television studio, Casa Cristina, a furniture line, an upcoming clothing line and her own magazine Cristina La Revista according to TIME magazine.
Saralegui was named one TIME Magazine's "25 most influential Hispanics in America" in 2005.
This is Saralegui's first presidential endorsement.
"I came to this country when I was 12 years old, because my parents wanted to give me new opportunities to succeed. With their support and a lot of hard work I was able to pursue my dreams," said Saralegui in the video released by Obama for America.
"President Obama wants everyone to have the chances I had," she continued.
The video has been distributed both in English and Spanish.
She is one of the most trusted names in the Hispanic community and were honored to have Cristina be a spokesperson for the campaign, speaking directly to Hispanic voters about the Presidents accomplishments, said campaign spokesman Jim Messina, according to The Miami Herald.

" In her own variation of the 1960?s hit country song Stand by your man, singer and comedian Lisa Koch tells the Republican Party to keep their hands off my clam. The musical parody makes reference to Republican-led efforts to restrict abortion rights and their opposition to bills like the Paycheck Fairness Act.
Hands off my clam, my uterus, and ova, she sang in a video recently uploaded to YouTube. Yes, we need birth control, because you wont wrap your pickle.
Koch also presented her own variation on If I Only Had a Brain from The Wizard of Oz.
Id defund contraception, say the hell to sex prevention, cus theres Jesus in my heart, she sang. I would vote against gay marriage, and fags I would disparage, but lesbians well, I like to watch them on porn.

" Bill Maher has done something the media refuses to do. He actually looked at the images used in conservative media and called out their racism.
Maher was talking about Gwyneth Paltrows N-word tweet and said, I would just like to say the problem with racism is not Gwyneth Paltrow. The problem with racism is Matt Drudge. I picked from Matt Drudges website, just over a month, we monitored this. Just as a couple, show some of the pictures that were on Matt. There, Mike Tyson looking like hes going to eat your head. Oh yes, Louis Farrakhan, because hes so relevant now. Oh, and Marion Barry, hes in the news every day also. Oh yes, Reverend Wright, because he matters to your life so much. This is who appears on the Drudge Report. Oh yes, and theres Al Sharpton telling Eric Holder what he should do. And Michael Jordan angry because thats how we all remember him.
Hallelujah!!!! Somebody in the mainstream finally gets it. Maher used Drudge as his example, but anyone who visits conservative websites on any given day will be given a dose of this not so subtle messaging.
