Historic Rain/Flooding Heading for Carolinas
An extremely strong conveyor belt of moisture will stream into the Carolinas over the next several days, aided by moisture from Hurricane Joaquin as it turns to the north in the Atlantic Ocean. While the higher elevations of South Carolina will experience the most rain, upwards of 18 inches of rainfall will fall on parts of the Carolinas. This could create an historic flooding event that NOAA is calling a 1 in 1000 year event. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect life and property.
I am in the belt of highest rain because of the way it's plotted.
Do not assume that you will not flood just because it hasn't before. The ground in most areas is already saturated. If the wind is strong, trees will be uprooted because the roots are not deep in many cases.
As of 2am, Joaquin is moving WEST at 3 mph.
It is supposed to be turning sharply NNE soon. I have no idea where it's going. Apparently all the forecasts have it going out to sea. Joaquin is not having it as of yet.
Who knows what microsystems are working on it as well as what can be measured now?
Not liking this one damn bit.
That damn hurricane is moving SW.
If it doesn't recurve out to the east soon, the SE and SC gonna warsh away.
Prolly gonna warsh away no matter what.
