If you break your nose

and show up on camera only 30 minutes later, some evidence of that injury will be apparent. Even if there was bleeding and it was cleaned up, his nose would be swollen or have a mark or something.

I have broken my nose twice, and 30 minutes later there was a boatload of evidence 30 minutes later. In addition, a broken nose and possible head injuries should be checked by a qualified medical person.

If Zimmerman were to claim later that the police prevented him from getting the proper care, he would probably have grounds for a lawsuit if he experienced problems. In addition, head wounds bleed profusely. That injury is suspect too IMHO.

Watch a Kentucky man rescue a cat stuck in a tree after a flood:

After a bad flood, a man noticed a poor cat stuck way at the top of a tree. He kept an eye on her, but she didn't come down. He tried to climb the tree once to help her, unsuccessfully, and had to think of a Plan B to help this kitty.

After four days of being stuck up there in bad weather, the man had his plan and was ready to put it in motion -- and he filmed the whole rescue!

My heart is truly warmed by this. There ARE nice people in the world! And after saving the scared and hungry cat, he kept her safe in his home with his other rescue kitty (and he's looking for permanent homes for them if anyone is interested!).

Now that was a rescue. That didn't look like the sturdiest tree.
If you don't like country music, forgive him. He has a good heart.
Not a bad country song though.

Police Investigated Trayvon About Jewwlry; Could Not Be Tied To Reported Thefts

SANFORD, Fla. -- Women's jewelry and a watch found in Trayvon Martin's school backpack last fall could not be tied to any reported thefts, the Miami-Dade Police Department said Tuesday.

The Miami Herald in its Tuesday editions reported that it had obtained a Miami-Dade Schools Police Department report that showed the slain teenager was suspended in October for writing obscene graffiti on a door at his high school. During a search of his backpack, the report said, campus security officers found 12 pieces of women's jewelry, a watch and a screwdriver that they felt could be used as a burglary tool.

smh
Sometimes a screwdriver is just a screwdriver. Doesn't make him a thief or guilty of anything.

Pinterest Boasts President Obama As A Member

Barack Obama may have a busy schedule, but apparently he still has time to pin things. The president has just joined one of the fastest growing new social platforms, Pinterest. “Organizers, infographics, murals, and cake — now pinning all of the above for #Obama2012 on Pinterest,” the president’s official Twitter account posted this week. Will the president’s pinning fortitude help his run for reelection?

Okay, so it isn’t actually Obama who’s pinning things. His campaign staff is managing the account, in an effort to showcase the commander in chief’s savvy with the young, connected generation. As of this afternoon, the Obama Pinterest account already had more than a thousand followers and had pinned a couple dozen articles including family recipes and political-themed content.

Pinterest could be the next big thing in social media. Last month, the site reported 17.8 million unique visitors, representing a steep climb from previous months and catapulting it to the #3 status on Comscore’s list of highest-gaining online properties. Being connected to social media is, of course, a must in the political world these days. Every major candidate in the Republican side of things has an official Youtube channel, Facebook page, and Twitter account. But Obama’s the only one who has jumped on Pinterest.

Smart! Pinterest is now growing quickly and it is another good way to reach voters. Since it is a visual medium, the use of pics can quickly engage users.

Independent Agency Gets New Powers to Prosecute New York Police Officers

Lawyers for the independent agency that investigates allegations of police abuse in New York have been given wide new powers to prosecute officers in misconduct cases under an agreement city officials reached on Tuesday.

The changes follow a period in which the Police Department has withstood an onslaught of corruption cases and increased scrutiny on several fronts, including its surveillance and stop-and-frisk practices, the integrity of its crime data and its use of force in policing Occupy Wall Street protests.

Details of the agreement were contained in a memorandum signed on Tuesday by the department and the independent oversight agency, the Civilian Complaint Review Board.

The changes are intended to shine light on a police disciplinary process that critics have long said is murky and secretive.

If this group can and will really prosecute, this is a very good change. It's long overdue!

K & R if you've ever been suspended, smoked weed, or were tardy to class.

Apparently these are justification if you are shot and killed.

Edit to add:

Why I was never suspended in high school.

My Mama taught where I went to high school and junior high.
Anything and everything could and was reported to her. It was stifling.

She so wanted me to have a boyfriend that if I was even seen having a conversation with a male friend, she blew it up into a Harlequin worthy story. When we visited relatives, it was the first thing out of her mouth. She so wanted a dainty lady as a daughter. I knew i didn't measure up, and that she was really ashamed of me.

It was embarrassing for me and humiliating. I learned very quickly to watch what I did and where when I was at school. I was a master at the under-the-breath comment in class. I could disrupt an entire class and never be caught. They knew I was up to something but they never could prove anything.

College was a different story. I almost got expelled my first semester.

BTW My Mama delivered the coup de grace when I was leaving after visiting her on a vacation. I was walking out of the door and she said,"I will never forgive you for not having my grandchild!" then she kind of laughed and backed off. She meant it! And she wondered why I was reluctant to go home.

What fun!

George Zimmerman, Son of a Retired Judge, Has 3 Closed Arrests

Did George Zimmerman have help from his father, a retired judge, in clearing his name in three separate arrests?

That’s the question that’s being asked now that more information on Trayvon Martin’s 28-year-old killer is being revealed. Robert Zimmerman, a former Orange County magistrate judge, recently wrote a letter to The Orlando Sentinel defending his son, who’s been dragged through the mud for shooting the unarmed 17-year-old last month. In the letter, the senior Zimmerman asks people not to jump to conclusions and insists that his son didn’t follow the young boy home as he walked through their gated community.
<snip>
Now more info is being dug up on his “victimized” son through public records and revealing his checkered past.

According to a records search on George, he was previously arrested for domestic violence, resisting an officer without violence and most shockingly, resisting an officer with violence — a  felony charge that surely could have landed him in prison.

All three of those arrests, however, were mysteriously closed with no semblance of charges for the Florida resident. So how was someone with a violent past including that of battery against an officer able to carry a 9 mm handgun? Maybe that’s a question Robert Zimmerman should answer …

Well, why was he allowed to carry?

Trayvon Martin Investigator Wanted Manslaughter Charge

The lead homicide investigator in the shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin recommended that neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter the night of the shooting, multiple sources told ABC News.

But Sanford, Fla., Investigator Chris Serino was instructed to not press charges against Zimmerman because the state attorney's office headed by Norman Wolfinger determined there wasn't enough evidence to lead to a conviction, the sources told ABC News.

Police brought Zimmerman into the station for questioning for a few hours on the night of the shooting, said Zimmerman's attorney, despite his request for medical attention first. Ultimately they had to accept Zimmerman's claim of self defense. He was never charged with a crime.

Serino filed an affidavit on Feb. 26, the night that Martin was shot and killed by Zimmerman, that stated he was unconvinced Zimmerman's version of events.

One complicating factor in the investigation was that the first detective to interview Zimmerman about the shooting was a narcotics officer rather than a homicide detective.
<snip>
http://abcnews.go.com/m/story?id=16011674

Since there was clearly a death involved, why did a narcotics officer have the priority in questioning Zimmerman?
The shooting and the circumstances and not drugs should have been the focus. If they knew the questioning would screw up the investigation, and they should have known, it should have been done later.
