Maine DUers: What's the difference between Snowe and King?

I know he will sit with the Democrats and I'm not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I just don't know a lot about Angus King. What are the policy differences between King and Olympia Snowe?

Would Luke Russert have brought up Stenny Hoyer's age?

Or did Nancy's age come up because she is a woman?

If *I* were DNC chair in 2014...

Yeah right, I can't organize a lunch wagon. Anyway, if i were the DNC overseeing the party's 2014 election efforts, I would zero in on our voters who showed up in 2008 and 2012, but did not come out in 2010. We have solid data now. We know who they are, It's simply a matter of persuading them to vote. If I or anyone else could pull this off, we could take down a number of Republican governorships. I'm thinking about Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico and Iowa as well as protecting seats in Colorado, Minnesota and Oregon. I hope someone is thinking about that.

Good riddance, Petraeus.

I will never forget the daily stream of lies from the Pentagon about "progress on the ground" in Iraq when news sources and soldiers' account clearly contradicted their words. And there were Andrea Greenspan, David Gregort, David Gergen and the rest of the MSM Beltway cocktail circuit gushing over what a great man he was. My only regret was that he ever attained the position of CIA Director.

What were your biggest election surprises?

1. Obama winning Florida.
2. The margins with which Romney and Flake won Arizona.
3. Shelly Berkely not getting elected to the senate in Nevada.
4. Heidi Heitkamp's election in North Dakota.
5. Steve King's re-election in Iowa.
6. The 4 for 4 sweep of marriage equality questions.
7. Mayor Janice Daniel's recall in Troy, MI.
8. Prop 30's passage in CA.
9. The speed at which Ohio was called for Obama. I expected the election to be called (with Colorado, Iowa and Nevada) before they were done with Ohio.
10.Significant Democratic gains in the Texas House of Representatives.

Almost 1K ballots found in Broward elections warehouse

LAUDERHILL, Fla. (WSVN) -- Nearly a thousand ballots that were not included in Florida's final count have been found in a warehouse in Broward County.

Tuesday morning and into the night, there was a buzz of activity at the Voting Equipment Center in Lauderhill, a week after the general election. There was a recount going on for two commission seats that were too close to call, one in Hallandale Beach and another in Dania Beach. Workers had to count those votes manually.

Also keeping elections officials busy is the fact that 963 filled ballots were found in a warehouse. The supervisor of elections, Dr. Brenda Snipes, said this happens all the time, especially when dealing with paper ballots. Her department is not the only one to have seen more ballots added to the final number after the election, and they have until Nov. 18 to certify all the votes.

Snipes noted that it is a routine thing to look for these kind of mishaps after election night and she is just glad that they are now being tallied into that final count.

Carmona Camp: We Haven’t Given Up On The Senate Race

The Arizona Senate race has already been called by networks for Republican Jeff Flake, but with many votes still to be counted, Democrat Richard Carmona isn’t ready to give up yet.

“We’re watching it very closely, and we’re going to make sure every vote is counted,” Carmona’s spokesman Andy Barr told TPM on Monday.

He said the campaign has not ruled out taking action if the race tightens.

The latest figures show Carmona trailing by some 78,000 votes with nearly half a million ballots still uncounted. Victory for the Democrat would be uphill climb by any reckoning, but it’s mathematically possible. His campaign notes that there are up to hundreds of thousands of uncounted provisional ballots that could also affect the race.

Carmona conceded the race on election night, telling his supports, “We didn’t win tonight, but when you look at the results it’s clear that Arizona is moving toward moderation.”

Now his campaign is wondering if it was too soon.

MoveOn sends ‘General Betray-us’ down the memory hole

Within the last few days — and possibly as recently as this morning — MoveOn.org scrubbed its website of the juvenile and offensive “General Betray-us” ad of 2007. Details here, and yes, they’re worth a good chuckle for the morning.

Back then, MoveOne described Petraeus as “a military man constantly at war with the facts.” He was, as the ad put it, “likely to become General Betray-us.”

The ad also said that “General Petraeus will not admit what everyone knows: Iraq is mired in an unwinnable religious civil war.”

Man With the Iron Fists is fun.

Don't expect much in the way of great acting. Very corny at times and very bloody from beginning to end. However, if you were ever a fan of those Saturday after kung fu flick, you will have a lot of fun.

Texas GOP official: “Maggots” re-elected Obama

Peter Morrison, treasurer of the Hardin County Republican Party in Texas, suggests in his newsletter that the state should have an “amicable divorce” from the “maggots” who re-elected Obama.

Morrison posted on his Facebook page his post-election thoughts: “We must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity. But in due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity.”

“Texas was once its own country, and many Texans already think in nationalist terms about their state,” Morrison continued. “We need to do everything possible to encourage a long-term shift in thinking on this issue. Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years.”

Reached for comment by Bud Kennedy at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Kent Batman, the chairman of the Hardin County Republican Party, said: “Wow.”
“OK, well — I guess I need to start taking a look at his newsletters,” Batman said.

According to Kennedy, State Board of Education Chairman Don McLeroy picked Morrison to screen the state’s public-school textbooks.
