Mike Huckabee Makes Sexist Wife Joke To Bash Fed Chair Janet Yellen

GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee joked about his wife being a nag and criticized Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen in one fell swoop Tuesday night.

"My wife's name is Janet," Huckabee said during the Fox Business Network undercard debate. "And when you say Janet yellin', I'm very familiar with what you mean."

Huckabee's comment came in response to a question from the moderator about whether he would keep Yellen on if he were elected president.

Huckabee added that the Fed is in "big trouble" because it hasn't addressed "the fact that wages for the bottom 90 percent of the economy have been stagnant for 40 years."

Debate Moderator: How Can You Compete With 'Free Stuff' From Dems?

Fox Business News host Trish Regan asked New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) how he could expect to win the general election without offering any benefits to voters during Tuesday night's undercard Republican presidential debate.

"Governor Christie, you have said that the Democrats' message is one of 'free stuff,'" Regan said. "In contrast, Republicans want to reduce spending. How do you win a national election when the Democrats are offering free health care, a free or subsidized college education and you're the party seemingly offering nothing in the way of immediate tangible benefits?"

"Yeah, sure," Christie replied to laughter from the audience. "If anybody believes the stuff they heard from the democratic debate a few weeks ago, there's nothing for free. What they forget to tell you is they're going to raise your tax rates to 70 or 80 percent in order to provide that stuff."

Ex-Obama Adviser's Analysis Of Ben Carson: I Won't Even Waste My Time

Republican candidate Ben Carson has zero chance of ever seeing the inside of the Oval Office, according to a former senior advisor to President Barack Obama.

“No Democrat anywhere has spent any time worrying about Ben Carson becoming president of the United States,” Dan Pfeiffer wrote in a CNN op-ed published Tuesday. “I won't waste your time or mine on him.”

Pfeiffer, who once served as Obama’s communications director, offered this grim assessment of Carson’s political future in a detailed run-down of how “Obama Democrats” see the GOP field. While he spent a considerable amount of time weighing the other candidates’ strengths and weaknesses, those two sentences were his entire take on Carson.

The retired pediatric neurosurgeon is holding steady in recent national polls, pulling ahead of billionaire mogul Donald Trump in a McClatchy-Marist survey released Tuesday. Yet his rise has been threatened by recent investigations into his biography, close ties to a medical supplement company, and academic record, details about which have been proven to be false.

Republican Mia Love pays back taxpayers for another flight

Vulnerable freshman Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah) is reimbursing taxpayers for yet another questionable flight, her office told The Hill on Monday.

Love, a GOP rising star and fiscal conservative, billed taxpayers for a pair of flights from Washington to Salt Lake City on consecutive days, Feb. 5 and 6, House records show. But Love never boarded the Feb. 5 flight, her spokesman confirmed, so she is reimbursing taxpayers the cost of the ticket, $537.10.

“Both flights were billed. She’s paid the Feb. 5 flight back,” Love spokesman Richard Piatt said in a brief phone call.
Her latest reimbursement follows Love’s decision in September to pay back taxpayers more than $1,000 for weekend flights she took to attend the White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual dinner last spring.

The $1,000 reimbursement came in response to a story in The Hill questioning whether she had charged taxpayers for flights to attend the glitzy dinner and other parties in D.C. that weekend.

Sanders: Reporting On What Carson Said In The Past Isn't Fair Game

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said he didn't think reporting on what Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson stated years ago was fair game.

NBC "Meet The Press" host Chuck Todd asked Sanders what he thought about "the Ben Carson stuff."

"Because you have seen some people leak out stuff you wrote 30 and 40 years ago," Todd continued. "Is this fair game?"

"No," Sanders replied. "And look, I listened to the interviews with Dr. Carson. And it's interesting. But you know what, Chuck? The American people want to know why the middle class of this country is disappearing."

"I think it might be a better idea, I know it's a crazy idea, but maybe we focus on the issues impacting the American people and what candidates are saying rather than just spending so much time exploring their lives of 30 or 40 years ago," Sanders continued. "And I think the reason that so many people are turned off to the political process has a lot to do with the fact that we're not talking about the real issues impacting real people."

Gunnar Hansen, The Original Leatherface, Dead At 68

Creating an icon is no easy feat; it takes hard work and quite a bit of talent. Every now and then someone comes along who expertly creates something that instantly goes down in legend – often imitated, but beyond compare. Gunnar Hansen did just that in Toby Hooper’s 1973 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with his portrayal of psychotic cannibal and killer Leatherface, but sadly we as fans must now say goodbye.

Hansen’s agent confirmed the actor passed away at the age of 68 after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer. Hansen – a native of Iceland – had at least 20 movie credits to his name at the time of his passing. According to ABC News, he had worked as a magazine editor, author, and documentarian. Of all his numerous accomplishments, horror fans will most remember him for his haunting portrayal of Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The importance of Hansen’s contribution to the horror genre cannot be understated. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will go down in legend as one of the forerunners of the modern slasher genre. While it was not necessarily the first film in the genre, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre pioneered numerous elements that would go on to become staples for characters like Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers – such as trademark weapons, imposing physical stature, and a face hidden by a mask.

Numerous other actors have portrayed the character of Leatherface over the years, but most – if not all – merely copied the genius portrayal of Hansen’s original work. While the character has never necessarily been likeable in the traditional sense, Hansen created a killer whom audiences could not help but feel bad for. Leatherface had clear mental issues and killed less because he wanted to and more so because his family made him do it. He would wear various masks – made of human skin – that corresponded with his current personality. Sometimes he would wear a mask to kill, other times he would wear one to clean the house and prepare food for his loved ones.

The futher he slips, the more Bernie Sanders sharpens his attacks on Hillary Clinton

Losing some steam in both national and early state polls, Bernie Sanders has gone after Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton a little harder every day this week. Yesterday, he made clear that he will not go quietly and plans to really take the gloves off.

After filing his paperwork to appear on the New Hampshire primary ballot as a Democrat, someone yelled: “You ready to kick some Republican butt, Bernie?” Sanders yelled back, “There’s some earlier butt we have to deal with.”

The Post’s John Wagner reports from Concord that the remark prompted some nervous laughter in a room packed with reporters and supporters, but it comes as Clinton’s camp has increasingly tried to suggest that the senator and his team have been treating her in a sexist fashion.

Speaking to the Boston Globe editorial board yesterday, Sanders declared: “I disagree with Hillary Clinton on virtually everything.” He specifically hit her for the flip-flop on trade and her delay in coming out against the Keystone XL Pipeline: “How many years do you have to think about whether or not we excavate and transport the dirtiest fuel in the world?” he said, per Annie Linskey. “It didn’t take me too long to think about that.”

In a Wall Street Journal interview the day before, Sanders said the FBI should fully investigate his rival’s use of a private e-mail server. Though he declared “enough about your damn e-mails” during the last debate, the Vermont senator complained to reporter Peter Nicholas: “You get 12 seconds to say these things. There’s an investigation going on right now. I did not say, ‘End the investigation.’ That’s silly. … Let the investigation proceed unimpeded.”

How Hillary Clinton is steamrolling through the early-voting state of South Carolina

Ask Democrats in South Carolina what they think of Bernie Sanders and the answer might just be: Who?

In this early-voting state that will test whether Sanders’ message can resonate beyond white liberals, the Vermonter is getting overrun. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s team is sewing up the black vote that dominates among South Carolina Democrats as Sanders struggles to find a strategy that will appeal to African Americans.

Clinton has demonstrated a know-how in communicating to black voters, whether it be bringing black celebrities or civil rights leaders to South Carolina on her behalf or organizing on the local level.

One day, talk show celeb Star Jones is parachuting into a Baptist church to stir up excitement for Clinton. On another, civil rights luminary Andrew Young is stumping at a civil rights roundtable. In nearby Atlanta, another Martin Luther King Jr. confidant, John Lewis, introduced Clinton at a rally.

And in the run-up to one of the most important political events in South Carolina — a forum Friday in which she and Sanders both participated — Clinton announced from Chicago that she had met with the mothers of children whose shooting deaths sparked the Black Lives Matter movement.

Someone please help me with this question about Ben Carson.

Everyone laughs it off when he said the Pyramids of Ancient Egypt, of the most powerful civilization in global history, were used for grain storage. But everyone throws a fit over a fib about West Point? Am I the only one who thinks our priorities are a little off?
