Good riddance, Olympia Snowe.

There she sat. Snug as a bug in a "moderate" rug with Joe Lieberman, throwing us the occasional bone to make us like her. But for all her complaints about how extreme her party got, she voted year after to elect Mitch McConnell Republican Leader and chief obstacle to getting anything done for the past three years. And more often than not, when it was time to uphold his filibusters, she voted to sustain them. So the only words she'll ever get from me next January is "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out."

I support Chellie Pingee for US Senate from Maine.

No one has officially declared for the senate seat being vacated by Olympia Snowe, but I'm coming right out and endorsing Chellie Pingee, although I'm sure Rep. Mike Michaud would also be a good candidate. It's a nice problem to have a deep, progressive bench from which to choose.

Who drops dead at 43 years of age?

One of two kids of people. Either Andrew Breitbart had a defect from birth or he was seriously abusing his body. My cousin dies at his age after many years of drug abuse. He had been clean for some time, but the damage was already done.

What I regret most about Breitbart’s passing....

is that Shirley Sherrod will not have her day in court and justice will not be done after her career was ruined by a lair with a computer and a video camera.

New Jersey Voters’ Gay-Marriage Support Reaches High After Christie Veto

New Jersey (STONJ1) voters’ support for same- sex marriage reached a record high in the days after Republican Governor Chris Christie vetoed legislation to legalize the unions, a Quinnipiac University (78104MF) poll shows.

Registered voters favor gay marriage 57 percent to 37 percent, according to the survey released today. They also approve, 67 percent to 28 percent, Christie’s proposal to put the matter on the November ballot, a plan rejected by Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver, leaders in the Democratic-controlled Legislature.

“What’s left, for now anyway, is a political issue,” Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute in Hamden, Connecticut, said in a statement.

Palin: Breitbart 'Defended The Defenseless'

We are all stunned and saddened by the news of Andrew Breitbart’s passing. Andrew was a warrior who stood on the side of what was right. He defended what was right. He defended the defenseless.

It is so sad to consider his four young children who have lost their dad. All our prayers are with his family now. May God comfort his wife and children.

Many of us will have life-long memories of our work or encounters with Andrew. May we draw on those to help forward the cause of fighting for what is right. For me, just one of those memories was in Pella, Iowa, last year after the premier of “The Undefeated.” Andrew held court in the restaurant at the local hotel talking about his favorite topic: how “culture is upstream of politics” and how conservatives must be unafraid to fight the leftwing media, cultural, and political establishments. The loss of his voice in this fight will be deeply felt, but thankfully his work lives on at his “Bigs,” and thank God for his inspiration and leadership.

God bless you, Andrew. Rest in peace, friend. We will continue the fight.

Memories of Andrew Breitbart 2009: what he tweeted upon hearing Ted Kennedy had passed away

Early this morning, news broke that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after serving in the U.S. Senate for nearly 50 years. Soon after, conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart began a sustained assault on Kennedy’s memory, tweeting “Rest in Chappaquiddick.”

Over the course of the next three hours, Breitbart unapologetically attacked Kennedy, calling him a “villain,” “a big ass motherf@#$er,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.” “I’ll shut my mouth for Carter. That’s just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement,” wrote Breitbart in one tweet.

Romney and Santorum almost split Wyoming delegates 50/50

Based on results compiled and released by the Wyoming Republican Party, Romney won 39% of the votes cast in straw polls conducted at county-level caucuses through Tuesday.

Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania came in second with 33% of the straw-poll vote, followed by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas with 20% and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich with 8%.

The delegate count may be closer. Of the 26 delegates at stake, CNN estimates Romney will pick up 10 delegates, while Santorum will take in nine delegates, Paul will receive six and Gingrich one.

Chief U.S. District Judge sends racially charged email about president

HELENA — Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull on Wednesday admitted to sending a racially charged email about President Barack Obama from his courthouse chambers.

Cebull, of Billings, was nominated by former President George W. Bush and received his commission in 2001 and has served as chief judge for the District of Montana since 2008.

The subject line of the email, which Cebull sent from his official courthouse email address on Feb. 20 at 3:42 p.m., reads: "A MOM'S MEMORY."

The forwarded text reads as follow:

"Normally I don't send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching. I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine.

"A little boy said to his mother; 'Mommy, how come I'm black and you're white?'" the email joke reads. "His mother replied, 'Don't even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you're lucky you don't bark!'"
