How do I continue job search after taking temp position?

I just landed a temporary job after a lengthy search, but I still want to keep looking for a permanent position. How do I go about this discreetly? How do I take time to interview?

I got a job (Temporary).

Well, it's temporary, but it's in my field and pays pretty well. I hope I can use this opportunity to move into something better. Wish me luck.

Tokyo Sonata (Japan)

Horror film master Kiyoshi Kurosawa set aside all the things that go bump in the night to look at the most frightening thing of all: Losing a career at the age of 46 and losing face in front of your family. Set in the economic collapse of the 1990's (but eerily reminiscent of the collapse of the US economy), Tokyo Sonata takes a brutal look at the fear of starting over and the hope of a better life for our children.

Swiss tourist gang raped in India

NEW DELHI, India — The gang rape of a 39-year-old Swiss tourist while on a camping trip with her husband has further ratcheted up the spotlight on sexual violence in India.

The woman, who had been cycling with her husband in impoverished Madhya Pradesh state in central India, was attacked by at least seven men while the couple were camping for the night, police said Saturday. The assailants also robbed the couple of $180 and a cellphone.

The attack comes at a sensitive time for India. Not only does it involve a foreign visitor at a time of economic difficulty as the nation tries to expand its tourism trade. It also follows on the heels of a high-profile rape case in New Delhi involving a 23-year-old physiotherapy student who died after being sexually assaulted in mid-December on a bus.

One of the five men charged in the December attack hanged himself in his jail cell Monday. A sixth accused in the case will be tried in juvenile court.

A wonderful song from a wonderful Taiwanese movie.

"You Are the Apple of My Eye" is a very toned-down version of "American Pe" that explores first loves and how differently things might turn out if different decisions are made at key moments in a relationship. Unlike most Asian romances, it's told from a boy's point of view if all of the brutal flaws that come with the male teenage years. "Childish", sung by actress Michelle Chen is the movie's most popular song.

Records show Detroit's emergency manager has tax liens on his Maryland home From The Detroit News:

Detroit — The man charged with fixing Detroit's faltering finances has been hit with four liens in four years from the state of Maryland for unpaid taxes, records show.

State records show Kevyn D. Orr, who was appointed emergency manager on Thursday, has two outstanding liens on his $1 million home in Chevy Chase, Md., for $16,000 in unemployment taxes in 2010 and 2011. Two other liens of more than $16,000 in unemployment and income taxes were satisfied in 2010 and 2011, records show.

Orr said he didn't know anything about the liens when shown records of them Friday morning by The Detroit News.

"I don't know what they are," Orr said, as his new boss, Gov. Rick Snyder, sat next to him in The News' offices. "That's surprising to me, to be honest."

'Paedophilia not criminal condition' says Durban cardinal

The Catholic Archbishop of Durban, Wilfrid Fox Napier, has described paedophilia as a psychological "illness, not a criminal condition".

The South African cardinal told the BBC that people who were themselves abused as children and then abused others needed to be examined by doctors.

He was one of 115 cardinals who took part in the conclave at the Vatican to elect Pope Francis earlier this week.

The Church has recently been dogged by scandals over clerical sex abuse.

Speaker Madigan says gay marriage bill 12 votes shy in the Illinois House

SPRINGFIELD --- Speaker Michael Madigan today said a gay marriage bill is "12 votes short of passage" in the Illinois House, a signal that same-sex marriage could face a tough roadto approval this spring.

Asked where the gay marriage stood in the House, Madigan said: “Yes, it’s 12 votes short of passage.”

It takes 60 votes to pass a bill in the House, so the speaker's comment means there could be 48 lawmakers already in favor.
