Lynda Carter Wants James Cameron to "Stop Dissing" 'Wonder Woman'

Wonder Woman herself isn't happy with comments James Cameron has made about the hit movie about the DC superhero.

Lynda Carter, who played the character in the 1970s TV show, shared a post on Facebook Thursday after a The Hollywood Reporter cover story featured Cameron doubling down on a previous critique he made of this summer's Wonder Woman.

"To James Cameron -STOP dissing WW: You poor soul. Perhaps you do not understand the character. I most certainly do," Carter wrote. "Like all women--we are more than the sum of our parts. Your thuggish jabs at a brilliant director, Patty Jenkins, are ill advised. This movie was spot on. Gal Gadot was great. I know, Mr. Cameron--I have embodied this character for more than 40 years. So--STOP IT."

Here's a quick refresher course on Cameron v. Wonder Woman:

In August, Cameron sparked a controversy after he called Wonder Woman "a step backwards." He said in interview with The Guardian, "All of the self-congratulatory back-patting Hollywood’s been doing over Wonder Woman has been so misguided. … She’s an objectified icon, and it’s just male Hollywood doing the same old thing!"

He pointed to his Terminator protagonist Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) as an example of what a strong female protagonist could be.

Russian-funded Facebook ads backed Stein, Sanders and Trump

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein was the beneficiary of at least one of the Russian-bought political ads on Facebook that federal government officials suspect were intended to influence the 2016 election.

Other advertisements paid for by shadowy Russian buyers criticized Hillary Clinton and promoted Donald Trump. Some backed Bernie Sanders and his platform even after his presidential campaign had ended, according to a person with knowledge of the ads.

The pro-Stein ad came late in the political campaign and pushed her candidacy for president, this person said.

“Choose peace and vote for Jill Stein,” the ad reads. “Trust me. It’s not a wasted vote. … The only way to take our country back is to stop voting for the corporations and banks that own us. #GrowaSpineVoteJillStein.”

The ads show a complicated effort that didn’t necessarily hew to promoting Trump and bashing Clinton. Instead, they show a desire to create divisions while sometimes praising Trump, Sanders and Stein. A number of the ads seemed to question Clinton’s authenticity and tout some of the liberal criticisms of her candidacy.

Would you like to flip the Washington State Senate with a few dollars?

Oregon, and California, the political wall defending the West Coast from attacks on our civil rights, environment, and economic growth is missing one crucial brick: the Washington State Senate.
Republicans have a one-seat majority in the Washington State Senate. Democrats can flip that seat in a special election this fall — and give us control of the entire West Coast.

Manka Dhingra — a King County Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, award-winning PTSA mom, domestic violence advocate, and community leader — is running for the Republican-held State Senate seat in the 45th Legislative District, east of Seattle. In her role as a deputy prosecutor, Manka leads programs that restore the lives of veterans, young people, and those suffering from mental illness, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and crime. A longtime advocate for women and immigrant rights, Manka has worked to protect all people from violence and discrimination. As a state senator, Manka will be a champion for our schools and ensure that students are getting the world-class education they deserve.

The 45th Legislative District is located in the high-tech suburbs of Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville, Duvall, and Sammamish. In 2016, 45th Legislative District voters gave Donald Trump only 28% of the presidential vote, and they overwhelmingly supported ballot measures to increase the minimum wage and expand gun safety laws. This Democratic-leaning district of 100,000 voters will determine who controls the Washington State Senate and the West Coast this November.
What has Republican control of the State Senate meant for Washington State?

-Attacks on our voting rights, with claims that there’s no such thing as voter disenfranchisement.

-Legislation that would make protesting a felony.

-A committee chair who called the Women’s March “ugly, unAmerican, and unChristian.”

-A deceptive budget that fails to fund our schools, guts the safety net, and raises college tuition for students and property taxes for working families, all while protecting tax loopholes for corporate special interests.

Attempts to roll back our landmark LGBTQ Civil Rights Act.

A Trump EPA employee and climate denier serving as Chair of the Senate Environmental Committee.

-Attempts to restrict women’s reproductive rights.

If we elect Manka Dhingra this November, we’ll regain control of the Washington State Senate and form a united Democratic front stretching from Canada to Mexico. By winning just one legislative district, we’ll flip an entire state. You can stand up to Trump and help advance a positive progressive agenda by supporting the Washington Senate Democratic Campaign today. Donate to Manka or volunteer for her campaign.

Kushner registered in New York as a female voter

Presidential son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner is registered as a female voter in New York, according to public records.

Registration records show that when Kushner, who is married to first daughter Ivanka Trump, registered to vote in 2009, he apparently checked a box classifying his gender as a female.

Democratic opposition research group American Bridge first spotted the error, which Wired then reported first.

"Kushner can't even fill out the most basic paperwork without screwing it up, so it's a mystery why anyone thinks he's somehow going to bring peace to the Middle East," Brad Bainum, a spokesperson for the group, told Wired about the mistake. "Would anyone but the president's son-in-law still have a West Wing job after repeated disclosure errors and a botched a security clearance form?"

Marvel's 'Black Panther' Footage Screened at Congressional Black Caucus Conference

While fans will have to wait until February to see Black Panther when it hits theaters, those in attendance at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference were treated to exclusive footage from the upcoming Marvel Studios film.

While the conference is generally known for being a policy conference where leaders and concerned citizens gather to discuss issues impacting both African Americans and the larger global black community, according to The Root, first-term Representative Val Demmings from Florida's 10th District put together a different kind of panel.

With Disney World being located within her district, Demmings used her connections to put on "Imagining a Bigger World -- Marvel's Black Panther, Cultural Heritage and STEM." The panel, which included Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and executive producer Nate Moore, premiered five minutes of footage from the film to the approximately 150 people in attendance.

While some of the footage screened during the panel had previously been shown at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year, this panel marked the first time that the film's footage had been seen by a majority black audience and it was a hit for those in attendance. According to The Root, the footage prompted conversations about everything from Vibranium to the cultural impact of the film with panelist Rick Loverd noting the impact the Hunger Games films and Brave had been on girls and archery.
