The core issue is qualified immunity

Qualified immunity translates to almost absolute power and absolute power is absolutely corrupting. Cops are pretty confident that they can get away with damn near anything. They’re usually right.

Combine that with the 3rd party “training” that teaches a number of toxic concepts such as their number one priority is to get home alive, that they’re noble warriors watching over stupid, sheep-like citizens, and they can do anything no matter how violent to enforce compliance.

Policing in this country is horribly sick and deranged. The more people push back the more violent the police become. Cameras are helping, but aren’t the answer.

The problem is that the core ideas behind policing are simply wrong.

Gdamn!

That’s some major news.

Thanks for posting this.

Great idea!

Never crossed my mind but that would change pretty much everything very quickly.

This one wasn't traditional racism

This was pure tribalism. Tyler wasn’t a cop and he pissed them off.

This was an expression of the absolute power of life and death cops on the streets have. Absolute power is absolutely corrupting.

All cops, because of one insane Supreme Court ruling after another, have a license to kill. Just like James Bond.

I’ve lost count of the videos I’ve seen where a group of pissed off cops lose their shit and beat their prey to death.

That’s very much how they view it. The citizens are prey and they’re the wolves.

I read an article last week that gave me some small measure of hope that we as a country might be able to deal with this. But it’s not from legislation or some sort of reform movement.

What’s going on is the insurance companies are getting sick and tired of paying these claims.

There have already been a number of towns that had a very big policing problem that either had their insurance canceled or they have been forced to make substantial changes in their policing methodology.

To fix this there has to be an absolute requirement that the cops de-escalate where at all possible. The legal system does not force this on them now and also gives them qualified immunity against chargers when they cross the line.

Tears in my eyes

Thanks

Kudos

I’ll give credit to Zashin for taking responsibility and taking appropriate action.

Good for him.

Zero sympathy

I find myself with zero sympathy for this woman. I can only wonder how many people she killed in the process of being a psychotic asshole.

Yes, I'm worried

I’m afraid they’ll put him 3rd in line for the presidency. Then the assassination risk for Biden and Harris goes through the roof.
