Cmon this has to be The Onion!

This can’t be for real.

Sounds like someone’s drunken racist grand parent.

My father-in-law, god rest his soul, once said to my mother, “Don’t you think the Jews had it coming?” and she nodded her head in quiet agreement.

I began drinking heavily that Christmas.

But my father-in-law a genuinely nice person in every other respect was not ever going to be President.

Please tell me this is some sort of tasteless holiday joke.

They just redefine collusion

In the right wing mind nothing has meaning and reality is plastic and can be reshaped by mind and emotion alone.

This is what I believe Al Franken was saying when he said we are losing the truth and, indeed, may have already lost it.

It remains to be seen whether the law with it’s definitive view of what constitutes legal truth can prevail given the storm of political bullshit that is about to hit in the coming year.

Everyone knows there was collusion and probably worse. The collusion is indisputable.

Youre correct

McCain won’t be back. Glioblastoma is extraordinarily aggressive and can’t be stopped.

At some point my ex went right wing

I’m virtually certain she would have voted for Trump.

We were successfully divorced for 30 years, but much to the chagrin of my wife and daughters, we always stayed in touch and remained very friendly. Then, during 2012 campaign she started spewing Foxisms at me when I drunk texted her.

She called Obama a socialistic fascist at some point. After I stopped laughing I asked her to define that. She told me I was being a snotty elitist.

When the 2016 shit show started I made sure I didn’t communicate with her about anything political. I really no longer talk to her.

If I was single I would be asking for a left swipe from any Trumpette.

This is personal.

Fuck yeah

I have to talk my sister down on a weekly basis.

There’s no one to talk me down.

Welcome

There’s a fundamental psychological shift that occurred when Republican politicians decided that government is the problem and should be shrunk.

This was a throw away line in one of Reagan’s speeches that was designed to appeal to those “small” government anti-tax zealots who were a small part of the Republican base back then.

That began a political avalanche when coupled with the billions of libertarian billionaires.

That thinking is sucking the lifeblood from the republic.

Welcome to the land of sanity.

Absolutely correct

Much of what is going on in this country from a political and a business perspective hinges on the average citizens mathematical illiteracy.

Some of it is basic arithmetic such as calculating percentages. But some of it is complete ignorance of powerful mathematical concepts such as compound interest.

American business has become reliant on predatory business practices where what is in the fine print can destroy you or at least seriously damage you.

This essential ignorance is what is making the world go around and what makes our Republic so incredibly vulnerable. How do you know to say no when you can’t even perceive the magnitude of what is being proposed?

Dropping the corporate tax rate from 35 to 21 looked huge to me the whole time, but if you were instead thinking it was 14% reduction it probably looked a lot smaller.

That this passed without any loopholes being closed means that a lot more companies will pay close to nothing.

This is a disaster but I’m afraid few will recognize it until it impacts them.

This is why theyre in such a hurry

What we’re seeing is an incredible violation of the Senate’s rules. By making the bill a shifting target and the OMB not having a bill to rule on the Republicans are dancing around the rule that prohibits using reconciliation rules. That the Democrats (Schumer) aren’t screaming bloody murder about this tells me that while they won’t vote yes they are letting this proceed.

This whole process violates every norm of the legislative process. Bills like this have never been shoved through like this.

Yet the virtual silence from the Democratic leadership is deafening. Think for a moment what the Republicans would be doing if the Democrats were trying something like this. They’re still claiming that the ACA was hammered through just like this when it was pushed through via a normal process.

The game is rigged indeed.

This is spot on

This is exactly what is going on.

This tax bill will create a spurt of growth followed by a depression.

There are too many goods and services being produced and too little demand now. Throw this tax bill on the fire and we’ll see a deflationary spiral start.

This time it will be difficult if not impossible to stop.

Congratulations!
