Doesn't that just say it all

This is what a moderate Republican is now. A card carrying racist who believes that allowing any progress by non-whites somehow diminishes his world.

He wants "to take it back".

I love that phrase. Take it back from who? When you get it back what do you intend to do with it. If you are talking about rolling back civil progress to where do you intend to roll it back? 1950? 1860? 1776?

I know that all this isn't in this particular story. But this is what is going on in these people's hearts. They have been convinced that blacks and immigrants have stolen their country from the rightful owners (whites).

Once you believe that racist, rightwing facism flowers.

No one seems to know where all this fentanyl and carfentanyl is coming from...

I kept reading all of these anguished stories about opiod deaths. Seemed like most of the time these poor ignorant addicts were getting what used to be called a "hot shot". Something was used to cut the product that made it lethally strong. So strong that even naloxone couldn't save people.

Two terms cropped up over and over again. Fentanyl and carfentanyl. For some reason dealers were using these drugs to cut heroin. Fentanyl is roughly 100 times stronger than heroin. Carfentanyl's only approved usage is as an elephant pain killer. There is no known safe human dosage for carfentanyl. A few weeks ago a policeman who was involved in a bust almost died of an overdose because he got some carfentanyl on his shirt and brushed it off with his bare hand. The drug absorbed through his skin and he needed a dose of naloxone to survive.

So where is this fentanyl and carfentanyl coming from?

The answer is pretty simple.

You can order it off the dark web. Get the TOR browser and go to any number of sites and you can orden fentanyl and carfentanyl in whatever quantity you need. To make it fairly untraceable you just have to have some digital currency. Then you have it shipped to a PO Box.

Don't have to be a tech genius to pull this off. Took me roughly 15 minutes to figure this out.

The drugs are manufactured in China. Anyone can order them.

The supply chain of heroin is permanently polluted.

The only way to really deal with this would be to supply verified heroin to addicts. What are the chances that would happen?

Zero. Bloody zero.

Heather's blood is on his hands

This was inevitable.

He gave the racists, the neo-nazis, the kkk, and the white supremacists permission to express their hate. At his rallies he encouraged crowd violence against peaceful protesters.

He hired Steve Bannon the inheritor and guiding hand of Breitbart as his chief strategist--an avowed, unapologetic racist and anti-Semite. Oh yeah, Bannon hates Muslims too.

What did anyone expect?

This was as inevitable as night following day.

Didn't say that I thought the distractions will work

Nowhere in what I wrote did I say that I thought Trump's distractions would work. They certainly won't work on Mueller.

My fear is that the Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces will start a war to change the country's focus. If that happens you could see Mueller fired when the country decides that this sort of investigation is unpatriotic in time of war.

Poster is correct but fails to mention why Trump is doing what he's doing

The poster is absolutely correct. China will keep this from actually happening, but this is a treacherous fire they're playing with.

While I'm confident that China can rein in Kim Jong Un I'm not at all confident we can rein in our President.

He wants and needs his Reichstag fire, Tonkin Gulf, his justification for war...

He needs a war like a junkie needs a fix. This Russia issue is getting really real with the pre-dawn, no knock raid on Paul Manafort's house.

Trump is trying to stay one step ahead and throwing up more tweet shit every day. But the "fire and fury as the world has never seen" was a master stroke of distraction.

Nothing like the threat of imminent nuclear war to get everyone to look in some other direction than Mueller and the grand juries he's impaneled.

That Trump would go to this unthinkable well is proof positive that all of us that said he was completely unsuited to the office were spot on. It also underscores that this is a man who believes in nothing other than his money and his power and has no moral compass to guide him.

He is using the death of millions (maybe billions) and the destruction of the planet as a shield. There is nothing this cornered rat will not do--including using nuclear weapons.

While I'm not curled up in a fetal position sucking my thumb and whimpering I'm terrified at a very deep level. We have to rely on cooler heads to prevail. What a great time for the country to decide to host the most dangerous Amateur Hour ever.

Really puts it in perspective

Great post.

This kind of cynical triangulating is what leaves so many unable to see much difference between Republicans and Democrats.

We need to be a party that is completely unlike the opposition.

Being against reproductive choice tells me that you are not on board with the party platform.

I'm a golfer

I've been playing since I was 9 and I can't help but love the game.

I've always loathed Trump ever since I made the mistake of watching the first season of The Apprentice. He proved to me again that he is utterly without redeeming features.

I read this article yesterday and let me state something obvious to me. Trump is not a golfer. He is someone that plays a golf-like game.

While he can drive the ball well and reportedly putts pretty well he isn't playing golf. Anyone that has played the game for awhile knows that it isn't a game of do-overs and that that reported low single digit handicap he boasts of is a vanity handicap.

I've taken a lot of money from competitors that had a vanity handicap by agreeing to the bet but only if the rules are followed to the letter (they had to play in my group). No mulligans, no gimmies, lost balls played as lost balls etc.. These guys that said they shot in the low 80s watched their scores soar into the high 90s while I shot my 84 or 85. I always played by the rules because that is the genius of the game. Almost anyone with decent eye hand coordination can hit some good shots. But can you string together one good shot after another, recover well from your mistakes, and keep your head in the game for the full 18? It isn't easy. To make it easy you have to cheat.

And that is what this piece tells me. Trump cheats. At golf, at business, and at politics. Finally it looks like it might catch up to him and his criminal family.

BTW, the grab'em by the pussy thing disgusted me but I was not surprised. But when I saw the clip of him driving a golf cart on the green I was utterly shocked. No real golfer would do that (whether they own the course or not). It showed an overall lack of respect for the game, for his membership, and for the revered norms of the game.

Why this shocked me I don't know. It's just another norm being ignored. This kind of ignorant, unthinking, uncaring behavior is why he'll never be invited to join Augusta, Pine Valley, Shinnecock...

Like a strange hybrid folk tale

What is going on now is like some strange hybrid folktale that's a combination of "the boy who cried Wolf" and "the emperor has no clothes".

Over the months it has become abundantly clear that you can't take seriously anything this man says. He'll lie about the most trivial things. He spent so much time planning himself on the back it's amazing that both the shoulders are dislocated. He absolutely fits with what the Republican Party has been doing for 40 years or more – – they just make up shit that supports whatever position they want to take at the time. Trump just does it more
obviously.

It is a testament to the stupidity of the American public that the Republicans have gotten away with it all these decades. But I think, as they say, the chickens maybe coming home to roost. Trump has managed to underscore that much of what is being said is just purely lies.

Could we be waking up from our fever dream where cutting taxes leads to such incredible economic growth that the deficit shrinks, where armies of the damned mass just south of Harlingen, and whites will resume their thrones to lord over the poor browns.

Few are buying the bullshit any longer. Even the Republicans seem to be waking up to the horrifying conclusion that they actually have to govern and that Trump is just a distraction. He is just going to keep on tweeting and every month or so he'll have a rally to refill his deflating ego.

I think some of them are beginning to hope that he just goes away.

That is so horrible

My sympathies go out to you and your spouse.

Privilege deforms the spirit

Trump has no self awareness and can't possibly understand how revealing his constant blurtings are...

Now that he is old and his face is fleshy it is easy to see the spoiled toddler he was--understanding very early that he could get away with everything and that the people who worked for his parents were frightened of him because he held their livelihood in his fat little hands.

What a grotesque occupies the White House.
