This an email I received from Rand Paul (why I don't know)

The same old crap that colleges are full of "left wing socialists".

Fellow Conservative,

I refuse to accept that our nation's colleges will always remain bastions of left-wing extremism.

I refuse to allow leftists to brainwash an entire generation of American students into hating our country and our free-market system.

That's why I'm joining forces with the Leadership Institute, the nation's premier conservative grassroots training organization, to help liberate our nation's colleges and universities from the clutches of the left.

Please, as a personal favor to me, sign the national Save our Students petition. And then ask everyone you know to do the same.

My goal over the next several weeks is to find 100,000 conservatives who are sick and tired of the left's hijack of our institutions of higher learning.

I want to wave this petition in the faces of the leftist lunatics who have seized control of our nation's great universities.

Too many conservatives believe that America's colleges are lost causes. They believe that tenure of liberal professors and the left's tight control of university bureaucracies have turned higher education into a permanent breeding ground for left-wing extremism.

It doesn't have to be that way.

In fact, I've spent a lot of time traveling the country to talk to young Americans who embrace our shared constitutional principles.

One thing is very, very clear to me. America's college students agree with the conservative movement's pro-freedom message .

All that's missing is someone to help them stand up to the left-wing education establishment.

Conservatives shouldn't surrender to the left . You and I shouldn't leave this next generation of leaders to be brainwashed by America-hating socialists and Marxists .

Conservatives must fight back.

And that is exactly what the Leadership Institute and I will do.

Please sign the national Save Our Students petition today. Your signature will mean so much to conservative students in the fight against the left. They'll know they have grassroots patriots like you standing with them.

I have told my friend, Leadership Institute president Morton Blackwell, that I will do what I can to get 100,000 patriotic Americans to sign this petition.

You and I will show campus liberals we're coming for them - and we're not afraid to fight them on their own turf .

Every day conservative young people must battle with a university culture hostile towards everything they ever learned about freedom and America's traditions.

These students want to hold fast to pro-liberty, conservative principles.

Students have seen how the Obama administration's big government policies have damaged their career prospects, their financial outlook, and even their family lives - their futures
.

However, the constant left-wing propaganda students must endure in class day after day takes its toll, and many end up believing the left's lies.

That's why you and I have to fight back now.

If you agree with me, please sign the petition today.

In order to win, conservative students must have the organization, training, and support to fight back against the leftist campus monopoly and stop the indoctrination .

And the Leadership Institute will provide just that, with your help.

The Leadership Institute teaches students how to: • increase the size and effectiveness of their campus group
• organize large numbers of volunteers and voters
• host successful high-profile speaker events
• engage in campus activism to promote conservative principles
• use the media to get their message out
In short, they teach conservative students how to go toe-to-toe with campus liberals - and win .

Consider the case of Evan Schrage at Michigan State University (MSU).

Evan was a member of a student group the Leadership Institute started at MSU called the Campus Conservatives.

Evan enrolled in a creative writing course. When the professor went on a vicious anti-conservative tirade, Evan knew what to do, thanks to Leadership Institute training.

Evan recorded his professor's rant on his cell phone video camera. He then sent it to Morton's staff, who published it on the Leadership Institute's campus news watchdog website, CampusReform.org.

The story became national news . Evan appeared twice on national TV to expose his professor .

The result?

The professor was suspended from teaching.

Will you stand with Morton Blackwell and the Leadership Institute to continue this vital work?

Please sign your petition right now.

Today's college students are concerned citizens who are experiencing firsthand how big government destroys opportunity.

They've seen their graduating peers struggle to find jobs. They have friends who suffer under Obamacare and struggle to pay off student loan debt.

You and I can't give them up to the left.

My friends at the Leadership Institute are across the country, visiting college campuses from UCSD in California to Bates College in Maine.

They've gone right into the "belly of the beast" to organize conservative students together into strong groups to fight back .

If you stand with Morton and me, we'll show the radical professors and leftist administrators that Americans won't let our nation's youth become indoctrinated.

Please sign your petition now. And ask every friend and family member you know to do the same.

Thank you for your help to advance our shared conservative principles.

Sincerely,

Rand Paul
United States Senator

In honor of all veterans and those in my family...

This is what I know:

World War I: My paternal Grandfather and 2 maternal Great Uncles, who will both die in the 1920's from the affects of mustard gas

World War II: My paternal Uncle: 2 maternal Uncles, one of whom will be wounded twice in the South Pacific and 4 maternal Great Uncles, one of whom will be killed in France

Korean War: My Father and his Brother. My Father somehow survived at Chosin Reservoir and my Uncle was present during the Peace talks.

Vietnam War: One maternal cousin who did not return unscathed.

Give thanks to my Father who would not allow any of his children to enter military service, due to what he saw and endured. he was against the Vietnam War, and were he alive now, he would as his brother did protest against what has gone on during this century.

Change.org does get changes done. NFL relinquishes their tax-exempt status...

Just received this in my email:

Apr 29, 2015 — Congratulations Change Dot Org Member… WE DID IT!

If you have not heard the news, the NFL has voluntarily relinquished their tax-exempt status. Their official statement said that it had become a “distraction”.

Our numbers led Congress to take notice and start to really put pressure on the NFL. Roger Goodell saw the writing on the wall that, had they not made this decision, he would have been called before a Congressional Committee to defend their status.

I want to thank each and every one of the 429,565 signers of this petition who showed the great public support for this issue. Pat yourself on the back, because YOU were part of the movement that achieved this victory!

If you’ve been reading the news reports, however, you’ll know that this tax-exempt status is just the tip of the iceberg on taxpayer giveaways that benefit the NFL. Some members of Congress are already looking at their antitrust exemption.

Our petition had a great advocacy partner in Sports Fans Coalition, who helped get our petition before members of Congress. Our movement also gave birth to Sack NFL Tax Breaks Dot Org, an organization built to tackle the overall government subsidization of the league, which will now operate under the umbrella of the Sports Fans Coalition. We are joining forces to continue to represent both taxpayers and fans.

I have signed on to be a member of the Sports Fan Coalition and I hope you will, too!

Sports Fans Coalition already has some great successes under their belt. Last year they helped end the NFL blackout rule, and over the past few months, they have worked towards more television access and lower cable prices to watch your favorite sports teams, as they successfully fought the Comcast/Time Warner Cable merger.

We need to stick together and keep leagues, conferences, owners, and the media accountable. We need you on our team! I invite you to click the link below to sign up for the Sports Fans Coalition.

Thank you for taking action and making a difference!

I peeled and sliced six onions earlier..........

and did not cry nor did a tear drop from my eyes.

I have no idea how I did that.

My 84 year old mother is no longer..........

84. She turned 85 today, April 2. Nice day, she didn't want to go out for dinner or lunch, so ordered a pizza to be delivered, (Jet's, very good). Earlier this morning (3:30 a.m.) stopped at the market, talked to my favorite baker, learned her mother turns 92, also today. Picked up a very small cake for mom.

2 of 3 sons stopped by, the other one called. 6 of her grandkids either called or texted her. Now at 6:45 p.m. she's tired and will probably be sleeping by 8 p.m.

When I see what Indiana has done in regard to

religious rights, it gave me pause to think about the Constitution and relligion.

The way I interpret it, is that it is more freedom "from" religion, and less freedom "of" religion. Simply, I as a US citizen have more of a right to not be accosted by your religion, and you have to your religion but it cannot be foisted upon me. That is what this Indiana law is doing it is foisting one's religion upon all.

The world and many of its inhabitants are fucking crazy.......

that is all.

my recent travail with getting a car repair..........

Last week I was unable to use my driver's side control buttons to roll down the front windows, the lights were out on it and I could lock the doors but not unlock them from the control pane.

My first thought was perhaps a fuse or fuses were out. There were 3 fuses I replaced all 3 and that didn't solve the problem. I took it to my mechanic on Thursday and one of the mechanics checked the fuses and thought maybe it was the circuit breaker. These are not sold at Pep Boys or any other chain. I called a VW dealership and he located one for me at a Chrysler dealership. I went & bought it, put it in it didn't solve the problem.

I went to see my mechanic & he didn't want to take a look at the problem because he seldom works on VW's. (I love his honesty, been going to his shop since 1986). He recommended a mechanic who works on foreign cars. I went there and he could fit me in on Friday & together we decided I would order a door switch, which I did from a VW dealership, not mine, but one closer) and in no uncertain terms it was to be ready for me on Saturday.

On Friday I went to the new mechanic, & the mechanic yelled at me after he had checked the door. He wanted to know why I brought it to him if the switch was the problem. I told him I didn't know for sure that the problem was the switch. I left there with a tentative plan to bring the car in on Monday (they're closed on Saturdays) with the switch. I then drove to my mechanic who said that if the switch was a plug in he could do it on Monday. After the foreign car mechanic looked at the car, I could no longer lock or unlock the front doors neither would my key fob lock the doors, nor would the doors automatically lock upon hitting a certain speed.

Not done yet. On Saturday I go to the VW dealership and I stop in at the service desk, told him what piece I was picking up & asked if he could fit me in. He was taken aback when I asked an approximate cost, but he replied $105 an hour for labor. I figured I would get it done & stop running around. I go to Parts to pick up the switch & find out the "manager" never placed the order. It would now be in on Tuesday, I did get it discounted $30, but I was very unhappy and got in touch with the man who takes complaints for this dealership via voicemail & email This is a huge dealership, Chevy, VW, Infiniti, etc.

Today I picked up the part. I looked at it, it is a plug in. I took it to my mechanic, it took him less than 5 minutes to put it in. My question was "how much do I owe you Eddie?" His answer $10. We also learned (because I still could not lock/unlock the front doors) the #38 fuse I had replaced had been removed, probably by the foreign car mechanic.

Moral of the story: stick with who you know.

Mom got a birthday card from the President and his wife.......

today. Mom will be 85 on April 2. I requested the birthday greeting for her about 2 months ago. It is very nice and speaks to her being from a generation who saw much and did much for this country.

I am going to frame the card and envelope.

who were the republican senators who did not.....
