Iowa Democrats...

Per MSNBC

On entrance poll:

56% want to continue Obama's policies

32% continue in a more liberal way

7% continue in a less liberal way.

Interesting poll.

Will try and find a link. It was just on the screen and Rachel was talking about it.

Thank you to all the volunteers...

that put in countless hours for ALL our candidates. You're what make our primaries & election season work.

Thank you, thank you for the work you've already put in and the work still to come!

Iowa Caucuses....

I mean offense to anyone living in Iowa.

But I don't get the whole Iowa thing. yeah I know history and all that.

For the repukes. It's their peeps.

But for the Democratic candidates (not that we don't have people there) it really doesn't represent the multi-everything our party represents. We're that giant pot of soup that has everything in it. Iowa is bread and butter.

Nothing better that good bread with butter, but it compliments the soup.

Why isn't the kick off held somewhere where the whole of our country is better represented.

Seems we should have changed that to keep up with the changing times.

Just something I thought about while I was watching telly this morning.

Now I want soup & bread.

I read this on on the internet...

it was said by a supporter of a democratic candidate.

"Hillary couldn't even beat the black guy".

Now I'm an Obama supporter, not ashamed to admit it. What I am ashamed of is a Democrat calling President Obama 'the black guy'. I know he's not lived up to everyone's expectations, but he deserves better than 'the black guy' He's done good things. He's the 'leader' of our party. To see someone that's a Democrat, or at the very least supporting someone running for the Democratic nomination refer to him as 'the black guy' is wrong among other things....

edited to clarify: It was not a Hillary supporter that said this. This was said ABOUT Hillary by a supporter of one of the other DEMOCRATIC candidates.

MSNBC, NH newspaper to hold unsanctioned Dem debate

The New Hampshire Union-Leader and MSNBC will hold an unsanctioned Democratic debate in the Granite State in early February that could threaten to put candidates who participate at odds with the Democratic National Committee.

The announcement comes as the DNC faces criticism for a meager debate schedule. The party has warned that any candidate who participates in an unsanctioned debate would be barred from future debates.
Paticipation by the party's top candidtes could threaten the DNC's hold on debates.

Martin O'Malley, who us running a distant third, is the only candiate so far to say he would be in the debate. But if Bernie Sanders agrees to participate, it would likely force Hillary Clinton to take part as well or risk being seen as reluctant to face her rivals face to face.

If the top two candidates do participate, that would increase the pressure on the DNC to back off its threat of sanctions.

The DNC has not said whether that prohibition will apply in this case.

The debate, to be moderated by "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, will be held on Feb. 4, five days before the New Hampshire primary. It stands to be the only debate between the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primaries--currently, the Jan. 19 debate was the last on the calendar until two days after the primary.

Trent Spiner, the Union-Leader's executive editor, told The Hill that he's been in contact with the DNC, but wouldn't speak for them as to whether that prohibition will apply.

"People are saying to me, 'We need another debate.' We feel like it's our job as a statewide newspaper to give the information that people need," he said.

"This isn't a fight about the schedule or anything like that. It's about giving the candidates a very good option--we have a lot of respect of Chuck Todd and Rachel Maddow-- to travel to New Hampshire and be heard by millions of voters."

Bronco's Darmryius Thomas mom pardoned by President Obama....

Demaryius Thomas' mom to see him play for first time

When Demaryius Thomas takes the field Sunday afternoon, his biggest fan will be in the stadium for the first time in his NFL career.

Katrina Stuckey Smith, D.T.'s mother, will be watching Thomas play in-person for the first time ever, the Denver Post's Woody Paige reported Sunday.

Smith was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2000 on a drug trafficking charge. She's spent her son's entire professional career rooting him on from federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida.

In July, President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of 46 federal prisoners, including Smith. She was released to a halfway house on Nov. 10, but couldn't travel for 60 days. The Broncos earning a first-round bye helped provide the perfect opportunity for her first trip to Denver this weekend. The visit was initially held up because Smith is not permitted to be in a drug environment -- Colorado has legalized marijuana -- but her parole officer allowed the trip.

mith's visit was speculated all week.

"Yeah, she can travel now, so we're working on that," Thomas said after Wednesday's practice, via ESPN.com. "It would mean a lot. It would be her first game. I would be excited. I know she'll be excited. It would mean to see her first game live."

If Thomas scores a touchdown Sunday, you can bet that football is going to his mother. It would be the perfect present for her first game with her Pro Bowl son.

A Family & A Community Lost Their Loved One. Just Because Patrick's Parents Were Previous Or Former Police Officers Does Not Mean He Can Get Away With Murder. Justice Needs To Be Served !!! What Would Happen If Patrick Died & Ty Didn't? Would He Be Walking Away Free?!

Original thread I posted:

I knew this young man....

He was friends with my son, my daughter and my nieces & nephews.

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (WPVI) --
A young man died after a fight nearly 10 days ago but, so far, investigators say there is no evidence a crime occurred.

Not satisfied, his family is now demanding answers.

Ty Sawyer, 20, died after what police described as a mutually agreed-upon fist fight with a person he'd known since childhood. The fight happened at a party in New Castle County.

His parents, Lisa Sawyer and Terence Garnett, say he would have never agreed to a fight.

"I know this kid was harassing my son prior to the incident at the party, on various occurrences. It wasn't just one occurrence, he harassed him multiple times," said Lisa.

"Here you have them agreeing to fight. We know this from five very detailed accounts from witnesses. We don't believe the fight itself - not based on the autopsy - that that's the cause of death," said Col. Elmer Setting of the New Castle County Police.

Ty's parents say, after talking to their son's friends, they believe Ty was beaten and kicked to death.

"I just want the truth. That's it," Lisa said.

Police say they have already ruled out homicide in the death of Ty Sawyer, and are waiting for a toxicology report from the state medical examiner.

"The trauma is not there to say this was a homicide," Setting said.

"My son didn't want to fight this kid. We had already talked about it before, when that kid came to our home and bashed up our mailbox," said Lisa.

Ty died just over a week ago after a fight at a party here in Middletown. It was determined by the police that his death was not a homicide and no charges would be filed. It was determined that there would be no further investigation. To many of us, there was no investigation. For everyone in this community, whether we knew Ty or not, this hasn't settled well. After hearing and reading many accounts of that night, there is a very real possibility that this young man was beaten to death and that his attacker's parents, who are apparently retired law enforcement, may have had a hand in trying to sweep this under the rug. The events from that night are not clear, but one thing that is clear is that the truth needs to be told. As a mother, I cannot imagine what this family must be going through. I do know that Ty's mom and dad deserve the truth. A thorough investigation needs to take place and, if in fact, it is determined Ty was beaten to death as many accounts from that night have indicated, justice needs to be served. I don't care who you're related to, nobody is above the law. NO-ONE. So I share part of his story in the hope that others will share as well, and that a thorough and immediate investigation takes place into the events of that night. I promise that I will do my part to productively and peacefully demand justice for Ty. I hope you all look into this story more and do the same.

This family deserves a full and thorough investigation.

Justice for TY.
