PPP Polls:Romney leads among Republicans in Michigan. It's Democrats putting Santorum over the top
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/02/momentum-back-toward-santorum-in-mi.htmlPPP's final poll in Michigan finds Rick Santorum holding on to the smallest of leads with 38% to 37% for Mitt Romney, 14% for Ron Paul, and 9% for Newt Gingrich.
It's always good to be cautious with one night poll numbers, but momentum seems to be swinging in Santorum's direction. Romney led with those interviewed on Sunday, but Santorum has a 39-34 advantage with folks polled on Monday. The best sign that things have gone back toward Santorum might be that with those polled today who hadn't already voted, Santorum's advantage was 41-31.
Much has been made of Democratic efforts to turn out the vote for Santorum and we see evidence that's actually happening. Romney leads with actual Republican voters, 43-38. But Santorum's up 47-10 with Democratic voters, and even though they're only 8% of the likely electorate that's enough to put him over the top. The big question now is whether those folks will actually bother to show up and vote tomorrow.
Even though things seem to be moving back in Santorum's direction, there's one big reason to think that Romney will still come out as the winner tomorrow night. 18% of the electorate has already cast its ballots and with those voters in the bank Romney has a 56-29 advantage. Santorum's likely to win election day voters, but he''s going to have to do it by a wide margin to erase the lead Romney has stored. We see Santorum with a 40-33 advantage among those who have yet to vote.
It's November 7th and Rick Santorum is President-elect: How did it Happen?
I can't see Rick winning if he wins the GOP nom. He is simply too radical and I think he puts alot of states in play for us. If he gets it, I think TX is in play, IMHO.
However, lets give people the benefit of the doubt. Lets do a "postmortem. " Lets say he wins. What states does he win? What is his message? Where did Obama go wrong?
Please Baby Jesus, Make the Rick Santorum Car Win Today!!! Please, Please, Please...
Would be the best gift EVER. MI would go Santorum and Super tuesday would follow.
Santorum: no apology needed for Quran burning
Talk about being willing to win a primary over the dead bodies of Soldiers. Dumb asses, they went out and said they were sorry because the military wanted them to. The burning didn't help things and while saying you are sorry won't solve the problems it created, it certainly helps.

More than 30 people have been killed in clashes since it emerged Tuesday that copies of the Muslim holy book and other religious materials had been thrown into a fire pit used to burn garbage at Bagram Air Field, a large U.S. base north of Kabul. Protesters angry over Quran burnings by American troops lobbed grenades Sunday at a U.S. base in northern Afghanistan and clashed with police and troops in a day of violence that left seven international troops wounded and two Afghans dead.
"The response needs to be apologized for by (President Hamid) Karzai and the Afghan people for attacking and killing our men and women in uniform and overreacting to this inadvertent mistake," Santorum said on NBC's "Meet the Press". "That is the real crime here, not what our soldiers did."
Public School Teachers and Administrators: How should we fire them?
It is a difficult argument to make that every teacher in every public school is a teacher that performs at an acceptable level. Some should find other professions. The limited number that are bad and kept is what the media picks up on. I don't think this is a huge problem with public education but it is a small one that the conservative media makes huge, at least to some in the public.
With that thought in mind, how should a teacher or administrator face losing his/her job for job performance issues? How long should the process take? What steps should be in there? What system of appeals should be there?
As one example of a system that has a system of firing that doesn't work, I would suggest the LA School district. Below is an article detailing some of the problems that the LA times found.
http://articles.latimes.com/2009/may/03/local/me-teachers3
Firing teachers can be a costly and tortuous task
...It's remarkably difficult to fire a tenured public school teacher in California, a Times investigation has found. The path can be laborious and labyrinthine, in some cases involving years of investigation, union grievances, administrative appeals, court challenges and re-hearings.
Not only is the process arduous, but some districts are particularly unsuccessful in navigating its complexities. The Los Angeles Unified School District sees the majority of its appealed dismissals overturned, and its administrators are far less likely even to try firing a tenured teacher than those in other districts.
The Times reviewed every case on record in the last 15 years in which a tenured employee was fired by a California school district and formally contested the decision before a review commission: 159 in all (not including about two dozen in which the records were destroyed). The newspaper also examined court and school district records and interviewed scores of people, including principals, teachers, union officials, district administrators, parents and students.
Among the findings:
* Building a case for dismissal is so time-consuming, costly and draining for principals and administrators that many say they don't make the effort except in the most egregious cases. The vast majority of firings stem from blatant misconduct, including sexual abuse, other immoral or illegal behavior, insubordination or repeated violation of rules such as showing up on time.
* Although districts generally press ahead with only the strongest cases, even these get knocked down more than a third of the time by the specially convened review panels, which have the discretion to restore teachers' jobs even when grounds for dismissal are proved.
* Jettisoning a teacher solely because he or she can't teach is rare. In 80% of the dismissals that were upheld, classroom performance was not even a factor.
When teaching is at issue, years of effort -- and thousands of dollars -- sometimes go into rehabilitating the teacher as students suffer. Over the three years before he was fired, one struggling math teacher in Stockton was observed 13 times by school officials, failed three year-end evaluations, was offered a more desirable assignment and joined a mentoring program as most of his ninth-grade students flunked his courses.
GOP Debate: Ahmadinejad=no power,Supreme Leader=power. Why the FUCK doesn't someone call them on it?
Newt called Ahmadinejad a dictator. Both Rick and Mitt agreed. Why the FUCK want anyone say, "Gentlemen, you mentioned Ahmadinejad as a dictator. The Iranian constitution and, from all appearances, the Iranian state grants most power to the Supreme Leader and unelected bodies of clergy. What power do you think Ahmadinejad has in the country of Iran?"
I am not anti-war. What I am is anti-idoits deciding. These guys are talking about the possibility of launching a war that could have very wide consequences for the US, the Middle East, and the World. With that, they don't seem to understand some fucking basic facts about how the country runs. Jesus Christ, it is embarrassing. Hell, Ahmadinejad got slapped by the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard about a year ago and went hiding and basically refused to come out. That doesn't sound like someone that is making important decisions for the country of Iran.
War doesn't piss me off. The talk of war without some basic understanding of what the fuck you are talking about does.
Done with my rant.

When is Violence Morally Justified?
When is violence morally justified? I am asking when it is justified for a person (i.e. you) or a group (i.e. a State).
Also, what are the implications of your judgement? What wars were justified? What acts individual acts of violence are justified?
