Too late... The guillotine just arrived outside...

Sorry, that was just plain mean...

November 6, 2012

No, but you may have seen the tale of my unfortunately Glenn Beck demented relative by now.

Here's my answer to jeminta about women:

I don't know, but there are some rabid female baggers. She's only a couple years older than me.

Our family was not at all right wing, not into all of this stuff. The older people in my family would have a stroke looking at these Goebbels. You see, they grew up in the Great Depression and got very aware of the Nazis, etc. and believed in all of the New Deal. They were union and corporate, enterpreunarial, teachers, mechanics, you name it, they did it, and all different faiths or none at all. They knew a demagogue when they saw one and were strong for civil rights, etc.

Now as to this person, she hasn't darkened the door of a church since she and her husband were married in the sixties and is not quite retirement age yet. Never talked about religion, neither did her spouse, a veteran. She supported women's choice, gay rights, and it was only after 2008 she started listening to Beck.

In the 1990's I listened to Rush to see what the heck was up. I used to watch CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN 1, CSPAN 2, PBS, FOX, Comedy, Central, etc to see what was up. I had a routine for a while, seeing several shows and Beck was one of them. He has become much worse with time, they all have. I also researched almost all the wingnut, CT stuff for a few years.

Until I couldn't go along with the alternate reality, dream/nightmare they were pushing anymore. They inspire a constant state of helplessness and fear that is only satisfied by finding an enemy to blame for all that's not right. I'll see youtube videos to get up to date, but really, I can't watch these guys or listen to them anymore.

I understand what they're aiming for, how they're doing it. But you cannot explain that to anyone who is in the matrix of these influences. She had some college, but never really achieved much in that area. Now she is obsessed with illegals, sharia law, communism or whatever fearful image is being pumped into her head daily.

We never cared about any of this in our entire lives and are not in any way effected. She and her spouse are often at home, living in a hot climate and not being in good shape, they stay inside all the time. When they're inside, they watch the television. In fact, I realized some years ago they were just plain addicted to television, organized their entire lives around it.

So maybe this has been a long time coming and I didn't see it. This is purely the result of media madness, in my opinion. I really wouldn't care, I mean, if they thorught that UFOs were hiding on the back side of the Sun or inside the Moon, who cares, really. But this is hateful to other people.

And she is on prescription drugs, but neither of them are on psychotrophic or sleep medications, AFAIK. All physical conditions. They are not healthy and this is making her BP go up.

But I was always the rebel in the family, the one who had adventures, who moved and did all kinds of things. So I saw more. Maybe this is why I didn't go the way she did. It's sad. But what's bad, and not sad, but scary, is that she votes.

And my post which goes firsthand into the craziness that she is, on a GOP voter stealing thread:

OTOH, my formerly aggravating, but now full nutso relative who moved to Glennbeckistan in 2010, will likely not be swayed. Her training comes straight from the mouth of the (Mormon) rabble rousing Beck, who convinced her that:

'Obama is going to foreign consulates,' importing Mexicans 'to vote Democratic' by bribing them with 'food stamps, social security and Medicare...'

To which I said, 'Well, they aren't doing that in my state up here, it's illegal. You should call Governor Perry down there about this.'

She was shocked, then said she was sure he wasn't doing that... 'And I've met some people in the Tea Party and they are really nice and they're being lied about in the news!' and...

'This is a Christian Nation! If people don't like it they shouldn't come here! Obama is 'turning the country communism!' (Yes, she used that term instead of the word 'communist.')

And 'Obama has ruined the economy,' and 'Aren't you afraid of what will happen with another four yeara of Obama?'

I told her I wasn't the least bit worried about it.

After some more raving as I tried to get off the telephone, she said as if working it out while she spoke, 'I have never used a gun before, but I will kill anyone who tries to implement Sharia Law!'

As far as this story, I'm sure Beck the Revelator has already put in the disclaimer. I can just hear it now: 'It's a lie!'

If you want to check out the crazy, I could give you the sites that carry the underlying world view, the filter they've been taught to view all news and events in. Or we can go with these lists, that brought out the carefully nurtured crazy that fueled the Tea Party in 2010. And has not stopped, by any means:

Conservative’s Guide to the top 10 Conspiracies

Posted by Zuul on Oct 10, 2012

In honor of the latest right wing media circus centered around a supposed conspiracy on the jobs numbers released last week, we’re pleased to announce our top 10 conservative conspiracies. This article could also be named, “Fox News Year in Review”

Take a gander, it's hilarious:

Chart: Almost Every Obama Conspiracy Theory Ever

Fake birth certificates, ghostwriters, teleprompters, a teenage trip to Mars, and more of the most paranoid and bizarro Obama conspiracy theories out there.

—By Asawin Suebsaeng and Dave Gilson

I am partial to the Mission to Mars rumor. It would be cool to have a Prez travel through time and space with a stargate instead just walking or driving and getting older as most mortals travel through time and space... Sigh:

And Infowars, World Nut Daily. Or, don't get me started.
But, now for your Moment of Zen:

I don't think their reality will be much different from watching Fox now, in that case.

Because their frontal lobes are already *atrophied* and they only react to Pavlov's dog whistles.

They all believe that they are slaves to liberals *now.*

And that the sky is falling *every* day.

But at least they will be thinking *happy* thoughts...

*evil laugh*

Thanks. And the way the mailings and the voter pamphlets described them...

Would elude many voters. I looked through the entire spread on each candidate. They frame them as rational or mainstream, then you have to look at who has endorsed them. You also have to know their dogwhistles, couched in such terms as responsible, liberty, etc. Many people are so busy in their lives and unfamiliar with the memes, names and groups that are bad actors, so they don't know what's going on.

They also don't grasp the philosophy of governance behind the initiatives, and what the long-term effects will be on social cohesion, and the local school or services. Many wil be fooled, or think they are doing the right thing voting for these. They are usually Tim Eyeman = Grover Nordquist = ALEC organized petitions to sell off the commons and defund the state government so that it will be vulnerable to privateers.

I kept getting mail from the GOP governors' association in D.C., against Inslee. The charges were not backed up, but they made the emotional appeal with the photographs on them. Such as a young man in a firefighter suit looking desperately hurt as if his puppy had just died, an outraged woman dressed as an EMT. These appeals influence a good hearted person, but they don't know the larger picture.

One would have to look at the GOP and know their positions to see how dishonest appeal is. The GOP, 'concerned' about firemen's pensions? This from the party that wants to do away with their jobs, pensions, agencies, unions, public workers, fire, police and FEMA as a mater of public policy?

After this election we need a sweep to clean out these crooks who distort everything, say exactly the opposite of what they do to people, and get the public educated again. We're tired, but we need the young people who are lining the streets to vote for Obama, to get into the process and stay in it. We need to faciliate their involvement, their education. We can't afford to let things go the way the GOP is intending.

Venting over.

Obama ‘Bets On’ Voters, Believes ‘Good Sense’ Will Prevail Over A Billionaire’s Ad Blitz (VIDEO)

In about 48 hours, the person who will lead our nation for the next 4 years will be decided. On one side, we have a proven incumbent with nothing to hide. On the other, we have millionaire tax dodger Mitt Romney, who is backed by the biggest tsunami of campaign spending any election has ever seen.

And the biggest donor to the biggest conservative SuperPAC is the man who might ultimately decide the election, if Obama supporters fail to turn out decisively on Tuesday. With at least $70 million pledged to Republicans in the 2012 election, Sheldon Adelson is “far and away the largest donor to independent political efforts in…modern history,” says the Huffington Post.

In October, Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Adelson ante up again to saturate our senses with more negative Obama ads. Together, the couple gave $10 million last month to Restore Our Future, the largest SuperPAC that has already spent tens of millions on negative television, radio, and direct mail ads in the months leading up to the election...

Did I mention that Sheldon Adelson has a $2 billion personal interest in seeing Romney elected that has absolutely nothing to do with preserving America’s middle class and everything to do with ushering someone who represents the rich, and the rich alone, into the White House?

"That status quo in Washington has fought us every step of the way over the last four years...They engineered a strategy of gridlock in Congress, refusing to compromise on ideas that, in the past, both Democrats and Republicans have supported. And what they're counting on now is that you are going to be so worn down by all they squabbling, so tired of the dysfunction, so, so weary of what goes on on Capitol Hill that you are just going to give up, and walk away, and just put them back in power, or they them stay there. In other words, their bet is on cynicism, but, Virginia, my bet's on you. My bet's on you, and the decency and the good sense of the American people."

Let's get it done, people...

AND MAY THE BEST MAN WIN:

YW, John Lucas! Here's a clip, part of an article I need to post:

Republicans are betting on cynicism, Obama says:
