This made me sad.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/12594057

I have this visual of Elad stuck in a cellar somewhere with a bunch of computers buzzing around him, a single bare bulb above his head and only one lump of coal to make it through the winter.

Skinner is hiding something. We, need to start a movement! FREE ELAD!!! He needs a voice and we shall be that voice!!!

POWER TO THE COMPUTER GEEKS!!!! <---- last known pic of Elad before he was banished to 'the other side of the country'.

Damnit.

I'm just stunned.

Time to repeat what I've been saying since I came here:

This place is 99% awesome. The other 1% can be a real drag, if you let it. There are DUers that I don't always agree with. Some just plain annoy me. I have options. I can ignore them (which I don't do), I can skip over their threads/replies (I do often), I can try to see their point of view (I do my best), or I can appreciate the fact that no matter how we go about things, we're all on the same side.

The funny thing is, I got into a pretty heated battle with a DUer a couple years back. It was as close as I've come to ignoring someone. And then, I noticed that I had actually recced a few of his threads and we had made a few positive remarks to each other over the years. Well...w..t..f? I guess one damned encounter wasn't enough to judge him by. I still don't agree with all he says, but I do occasionally chuckle at his comments and agree with others.

The Lounge is where it happens, folks. This is where we put down the gloves and share our laughs and tears. We somehow forget that someone irritated the crap out of us in GD and let them entertain us with corny jokes or cat pics. We've been accused of cliquishness here, but we're the most mismatched and dysfunctional (in a good way) people on DU and I have yet to see anyone locked out (well, without good reason).

Never forget how to laugh, to forgive, to share, to encourage, to forever celebrate life and the dirty water of The Lounge hot tub.

Love all y'all.

Take care T.

It's my bday...

...my last year as a '40 sumthin'. No, I don't want wishes of a happy birthday. The only thing that will give me a happy birthday* is a BEARS WIN, tonite.

So, in honor of me...I want you all to say a little prayer to the Football Gods. My QB is out for at least 2 more weeks, Briggs is out, we're hurtin' bad. Our chances of winning against the Packers ( ) are slim, but with your prayers we could do it! (Need to keep McGown from wetting his pants every time their defense gets within 5 yards.)

I need this, guys. Need it bad. One of my favorite people in the world was born/raised/still lives in Milwaukee. She can be a real pain in the ass when the Packers beat the Bears. Did I mention it's my bday? Yeah. Pray for us.

*When I say that, I don't 'really' mean it. It'll be pretty awesome, no matter what. The husband bought me a PS3 for our Anniversary/my bday. He's stopping on the way home to pick up dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant. I have ice cream and apple pie waiting for me at home. The enormous charity job I've been working on is <this> close to being approved for printing. But, hey...a Bears win against the Packjerks, especially in their own home field...would be the freakin' icing on the cake.

Our Papa, Who art a bear, Halas be thy name, Thy championship Come, Thy Play Will be run, At home as it is away. Give us this day our Sunday win, And forgive us our turnovers, Though we pounce on those who turnover against us, And lead us not into fourth & long, In the name of Ditka, Butkus & the Holy Payton, as it was in 1985, so shall it be in 2013 reign without end. Go Bears!

I agree with grantcart

He mentioned 'temporary'...maybe 1 year? Though we have the information in GD and possibly the Health Group, labeling a separate ACA Group would be a quicker way for people to find information, share experiences, provide helpful links, etc., without getting buried in other threads. Granted, it may not receive a ton of traffic, but as a quickie go to group I think it could be helpful. Probably more helpful once I can get freakin' in. I know, patience is a virtue.

Crap. I broke Facebook.

I finally had enough of my beloved RWNJ friends posting stupid crap about National Forests and Monuments. I posted a rebuttal. A slightly harsh rebuttal. I used facts.

They're all still online, but none of them has commented. At all. They aren't even posting what they had for lunch or what their poop looks like (That's a friend of the husband's. My personal friends don't discuss their poop on FB.) They're just sitting there on FB in silence.

So, did I break Facebook or did I break my friends? Why does the latter make me feel all giddy?

Hey, did y'all see what the head cheeses did?

I'll add one to my sig line when I can sign up. I still can't bring myself to replace Uncle Teddy.

Thanks guys!!!

Edit: Thanks to Graybeard for making the suggestion, too!

I'm 'brainwashing' a 12 year old.

At least, that's what his mother, my BFF, says.

I've mentioned before that she is a Republican. Moderate, but still... One of her sons asked me to marry him when he was 8 (I was 44, so it was quite controversial. I was also engaged. ). He friended me on FB a couple of years ago and has been following me ever since. The BFF said he reads every single thing I post and then goes on to read all the links, etc. Then, he starts doing his own research.

She said they'll be having a normal conversation at dinner when someone will mention something that sets him off. He jumps on his soapbox and gives a political smackdown to everyone at the table. She said I've brainwashed her son into becoming a Junior Liberal.

He posts some really interesting things, himself. Most of it having to do with social justice and bullying. He's an incredibly smart kid and cute as hell.

I told my bestie that she's in deep shit. She has 6 kids ranging in age from 23 to 8. 4 of those 6 are either Liberals or leaning in that direction. I encourage them as much as possible.

I think my eyeballs are going to fall out.

Or explode.

Besides working all day (I'm a graphic artist), I'm doing some freelance (emphasis on 'free') for a local charity. An 84 page booklet with lots of crappy scans that I have to clean up. Add to that the time I spend reading DU and other worthy sites, FB and gaming...

...my eyes are killing me. My eye doc would be very disappointed in me. They're all bloodshot and puffy. I look stoned out of my mind.

I may have to take a break tonite.
