Speechless. There's a trophy hunter in the family, isn't there?
The subtle and deep implication of yesterday's political mini-earthquake
Any idea that Donald Trump could get away with firing Bob Mueller went out the window yesterday
That ship has sailed
The country would erupt, there are groups planning for such an event, but with such political opposition, a hatchet job would never stand
Linux Mint 18.1 won't recognize wireless connections
Been on this most of the afternoon. Waded through lots of forums, videos. I think it's a software tweak, maybe a network connection problem. It recognizes the Broadcom 802.11b/g
Maybe I have to setup a network first? seems that's what I did under Windows. But these setup videos all looking for Wifi connections.
The "Network" icon recognizes the network name, security type, and network key.
The router firewall is enabled, as is the Linux firewall.
I've tried to locate networks with terminal, and with the Linux software. Nada.
New Computer stress
i've had a new pc for 6 days and it has done little except update for all but 7 or 8 hours.
It's just about totally locked up. Can browse lightly, meaning delays in everything. Not pauses. Delays.
It doesn't tell you what it's updating, only after the fact did I learn the first night was about Win10 updates.
Everytime I get a half hour going good, it starts all over again. I think it's mcafee. I am just furious at it. Everytime
I backspace a few letters because I mistyped, I have to wait 3 seconds.
I'm thinking of repairing my old Vista machine with parts, mouse, drive and battery, and installing Linux. That ran well
from 4 megs of RAM and a DVD boot - no hard drive! Ok it locked up every 4 hours from the memory cache being
filled, but still, it allowed me some sanity.
ALso seriously considering ditching Verizon in favor of wifi public library access. THis is not worth the aggravation and cost.
Router security
A contractor used my hi speed internet to email a bill. I mean he used his smart phone. Grabbed my router's password. Should I change my router's password, how do I do that? Could my router be access from the internet by someone with that information? I have no idea.
