CEOs to Washington: Focus on Fiscal CliffA growing number of chief executives are cautiously telling the White House and Congress to more urgently address looming spending cuts and tax increases that are set to begin in January.
The latest overture came Thursday, when 15 chief executives from the countrys largest banks and insurance companies sent a letter to the White House and Congress calling for a bipartisan deal to avoid the approaching fiscal cliff.
The fiscal cliff is the inside-the-beltway name for the combination of the expiring Bush-era tax cuts and the large spending cuts that are scheduled to begin in January. Many economists have warned that if Congress doesnt act, the impact of the fiscal changes could push the country back into a recession.

Bill Maher : "In the Bubble"
Why Romney Screwed Up the Libya QuestionMitt Romney tried to catch the president of the United States in a lie last night and ended up kicking himself in the pants.
Sparring with Obama over Libya, Romney said that "it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror." In fact Obama had referred to the attack as "an act of terror" in a speech in the Rose Garden the day after four Americans were killed at the US consulate in Benghazi. Moderator Candy Crowley ended up fact-checking Romney in real-time, to applause from the audience, as Romney himself looked on in disbelief.

Karl Rove: GOP 'Doomed' If It Alienates Hispanics
SEARCY - Former Bush White House adviser and Republican strategist Karl Rove said Tuesday night that Hispanics are the natural allies of conservatives and the GOP will be "doomed" if it alienates them.
Speaking at a private university in central Arkansas, Rove said Hispanic voters are a key constituency for Republicans as the party grows and warned against using language that would drive away their support.
"If we do with Latinos what we did with African-Americans, Republicans and conservatives will be doomed," Rove said during a question-and-answer session after his speech at Harding University. "Latinos and Hispanics are by and large the natural allies of conservatives."
Rove served as deputy chief of staff and adviser to former President George W. Bush, who unsuccessfully pushed for comprehensive immigration reform. Rove didn't single out any proposals or figures in the party that he believed were alienating Hispanics. Instead, he singled out U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Texas GOP Senate hopeful Ted Cruz as prominent Latino leaders in the Republican Party.
