Belshazzar's Feast

I am not a Christian, I am a Buddhist. Even so, I find many stories in the Bible to be very instructive. Lately the whole saga of Trump's endless saga of sorry scandals has reminded me of the story of Belshazzar's feast, as told in the book of Daniel.

Mene mene tekel upharsin, which roughly translates as "You have been weighed and measured and found wanting."

If you don't know this story, see https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Daniel+5&version=NKJV

Here's Rembrandt's painting of the Feast of Belshazzar

Such a stumble bum - that Trump is

Yikes! and he surrounds himself with stumble bums. Not a bit of honor and virtue among them. They are all so focused on acquiring wealth by any means that if you told them to lick a toilet bowl for $100M, they would do it.

All us DUers have wondered where the bottom of the Trump sewer of stupidity is, only to discover that there probably isn't one. I am no longer surprised by any stupid outrage that this crew of imbecilic criminals commits. Now something honorable and virtuous - that would surprise me. But every single week, it's yet a slew of stupidity and venality coming from the Trump cabal. So I guess we get to brace ourselves for a summer of even more slime and stupidity. It's certainly not going to stop any time soon.

Personally, I would be deeply embarrassed to tell such obvious lies and foment such deplorable hate and fear-mongering. But of course, today's Trumpster Republicans cannot be embarrassed. It is a sad sad day, when your average, mediocre Democratic politician will far outshine and look virtuously heroic, when compared to the degenerate toxic slime that now inhabits the Oval Office.

I'm not depressed and on a morning bummer. I promise that I'm not. I really do endeavor to maintain a cheerful attitude. I refuse to nurture hatred towards them. I guess the positive lesson to be learned here is that hatred and greed and disturbing negative emotions makes people stupid. Wouldn't it be great to hear a president inspire us to a higher and better purpose? Alas, "Yes we can" seems so distant in the rear-view mirror. I so yearn for some Dem politicians to talk about honor, honesty, and personal integrity. How about you?

What if Hannity really wasn't a client?

But when first asked, just went along with the fiction that he was, to make it look like Cohen was a real, practicing attorney. Then got cold feet about allowing the lie to be told in court and rectified the lie?

That's what I think happened. Not that Hannity is such an honest guy, but rather that he realized that he was playing with fire.

That we must be taught by our children about morality - how shameful

It shows how degenerate and corrupt our society has become under the influence of corporate greed.

Could this be the death of the Republican party?

Watchinng young people in Wash today, boldly telling politicians, "no more," "enough," "BS," "get your resumes ready," "vote them out."

I'm so impressed.

It's the Racist party

After the antics at last week-end's CPAC, the Republican party is now the Racist party - and blatantly so. Between Trump's snake analogy calling all immigrants as snakes, and calling it a mistake to have made Michadel Steel's appointment as chair of the GOP, because he was a black man; it's ever so clear to me that the old GOP is now the blatant Racist Party. And that is what I shall call them henceforth.

As an aside, I want to point out an experience I had last week. I recently moved to Dallas, and last week I went to update my driver's license, so I could vote in the Texas primary. There were about 200 people, waiting for their number to be called. I was one of very very few white people. Most folks were Hispanic, Black, and a few Asians. These were people from all walks of life. America is no longer a white nation. And that is exactly what the Racist Party fears the most.

Trump will never sign a compromise Dreamers' bill, because he wants to deport all the Dreamers. And his Racist enablers in congress support deportation, because they know that most Dreamers, if naturalized as citizens, will vote Dem.

BTW: I early voted ln last week's Texas primary. 11 pages on the ballot. I voted a straight Dem ticket, even where there was only one candidate. And I took race in, as part of my consideration for how to cast my vote. Let's just say that there were a lot of Hispanic surnames on the ballot.

Let's boycott the NRA

Companies are already quitting business ties to the NRA. They can see how toxic the NRA has become. Start pushing the meme to boycott businesses that engage with the NRA. We can vote with our wallets. Make the NRA as toxic as possible.

Have you been to the DMV or the DPS lately?

I went in today to change my address on my driver's license. I live in Dallas. There were about 200 people waiting for their turn to be called.

I was one of very very few white people. most folks were Hispanic, Black, and a few Asians. Truly the USA is getting browner. The days of entitled white folks is drawing to a close.

Just more empty words about how guns aren't the problem - criminals are the problem

Sessions comes out and blames criminal mentality. But no mention of sensible gun control. Trump will do the same today. Actually, I predict that Trump will say something that makes it worse. Completely tone deaf. How many times will Trump say "I" and "me," but not call for gun control?
