money is always devalued (inflation) so yours is worth less,. the new money created is given to the rich banksters, for doing nothing, the people are made to "invest for retirement", since just saving money that is constantly devalued by the inflationary nature of the monetary system, where money is based on debt, will not pay for retirement. Thus we all run on the little wheels of the banksters who always profit,. and never lose. The wealthy use their wealth to extract more wealth from the people,. endlessly. Only problem with their set up it that endless growth that their pyramid scam is predicated on is just not possible on a planet of finite resources, thus the current "downturn" is actually, the end of growth,. and the beginning of a new era.

Why would the 1% want to use the systems they built to control the population, to actually control the population? Well, I will let you figure that out, but is seems rather obvious.
Planetary awareness is mandatory for forward movement, the internets should connect all people,.
and even the biosphere and many systems of the planet as well. We need to know what is happening halfway around the world, as it is important to us too, since this is one world and we are all connected.
The sustainable solutions already exist, we only need to stop the greedy from controlling the resources as they now do. The 1% run the show currently, and the people allow themselves to be deceived, divided, and controlled by the few.
A wave of mass extinction is underway, and we are causing it. If we do not modify our behavior, inevitably we will topple the balance and undermine our own existence. Human dieback is the outcome in this scenario. Extinction is a very real possibility for us humans, if we continue to damage the web of life that gave rise to our existence and sustains it.
Sadly, many folks have convinced themselves that we exist outside, or even above, the natural order. Some have 'faith' that an invisible-man-in-the-sky will whisk them away in his light, or some such makebelieve. Reality is that we are silly hairless monkeys who have great potential to do amazing things, however we must learn that in this universe consequences always rise from every action. Faith is the willful denial of reality, and it is a dangerous tool, used by the greedy few to manipulate and control the many. If we can not move past childhood fantasies, and deal with the greedy 1% that are destroying the planet for short-sighted gain, then we will get what we deserve.
Life in some form sure,. but HUMAN LIFE will grow more and more precarious, and much uglier.
We are rather needy creatures, and require loads and loads of resources,. without massive shifts from the corporate-military profit motive based systems,. to low impact, sustainable, and even remediation to stabilize the biosphere, humanity is in a bad way.
We really need to be using the remaining perto-resources to build sustainable systems that will make life possible/livable for future generations, or major systems collapses and massive human die-back are the inevitable outcomes.
I don't see the situation as bleak, so much could be done, degrowth, permaculture, etc. however, I do see the lack of actual movement by the major players to be beyond bleak, as time is simply running out, with the last of the petro-fuels and other resources.
Nuke power is a money pit and a terrible danger to the future,. our children get the mess!
Nuke power is always a money pit; every construction, every operation, every cleanup = stolen money from the future.
The 'operators' are never made financially responsible for all the future dealings with the mess they are making today. It is foisted on future generations. Those who had no say in what mess is left for them.
Nuke energy is stealing from our children so some 1% arsehole can make a quick buck today!
There is more than enough energy coming from the sun every day to safely run the planet, only corporate tools say otherwise and some ignorant people believe it.

All the costs that are stolen from the people through taxes, and debts foisted upon us for these wars and mass surveillance systems are purely for the private interests of the 1%, the banksters, and the corporations they control and profit from.
What they want are "Obedient workers",. .

And now, they're coming for your Social Security. They want your fucking retirement money. They want it back, so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They'll get it. They'll get it all, sooner or later,. because they own this fucking place. It's a big club, and you ain't in it. You and I are not in the big club."

The guy is very clever ,informed, and has made a massive study of the american state, he always gives amazingly clear analysis. He goes on the talk about the war criminals and terrorists the US will not extradite to other countries, and yet the US calls for the extradition of Snowden, Chomsky calls out the massive hypocrisy.
There is loads more out now than just greenwald's disclosures, why keep your head in the sand?
Do you see this simply as an attack on Obama? It is not. Why can't you see this started long ago, well before bush jr. even. 9/11 was jsut a catalyst to the corporate security state buildup,. criticising the corporate coup, is not a partisan critique, it is an issue of elemental democracy.
Sometimes the truth is difficult, however it must be dealt with,. denialism is a lie based reality and leads nowhere but down.
