Poll observers are needed in Lee County, North Carolina ASAP

Can the folks in this largely Hispanic & African-American area request assistance from the feds? This should not be happening in the United States!

Trump pollworker in Sanford, NC, thinks he's #Negan y'all.

From the Lee County Democratic Party FB page:

"More news from the front (the polling sites, which we have to describe that way because of the belligerent tone of the "we're veterans, and we demand you take our yellow ballot" volunteers).
This Rabin volunteer (employee?) is William Herrera. He lives in Harnett County, but he's in our county telling Latino voters in Spanish that those of us with blue ballots are baby killers and will deport them, so vote the yellow ballot. This intimidating and threatening message has been effective in some cases, and part of his conversation with a voter was recorded.
Voter: But, this is what I say, what is the reason? How do you know if we're going to be deported?
Will: [English]You need to do your research, bro.
Voter: But, why? That's my question. What is the reason? What is your reason? To be deported? Why is it that you want us/them to leave like that?
We think this is intimidation; what do you think?"

These events haven't made any local or national news! I'm afraid this is going on all over NC to intimidate Dem supporters.
I have family in Lee County and was notified last night about this going on in the Sanford area.

Police: Officers respond to alleged altercation between N.C. House candidates

Source: NBC-WECT

Bladenboro Police Chief Chris Hunt said police officers responded to an alleged altercation between two North Carolina House of Representative candidates on Saturday.

The incident happened at the Beast Fest in Bladenboro. A visitor at the Beast Fest told police about the reported altercation. No one called 911.

Chief Hunt said Democratic District 46 candidate Tim Benton and Republican District 46 candidate Brenden Jones each told officers the other man "struck" him.

Officers did not witness the reported altercation and therefore did not charge either candidate, according to Chief Hunt.

Georgia still using hackable electronic voting machines

Source: Action NewsJax

Touch-screen electronic voting machines were purchased all across the country after the vote counting problems in Florida during the 2000 presidential election.

Florida is now moving away from those machines, but many states have not.

Georgia is one of the only states in the country to exclusively use touch-screen electronic voting machines at every polling place.

It is those machines that critics said are especially vulnerable to hackers.

After a quick Google search, Action News Jax found an electronic voting machine that is similar to what will be used at Georgia polling places.

For $99, it was shipped directly to us. We packed it up and hit the road to Princeton University, where we met computer science professor Andrew Appel.

“This particular machine is the most hackable of all,” Appel said. “And it's because you can hack them without even touching them.”

Georgia voting machine suspected of ‘flipping’ presidential votes

Source: AJC

UPDATE: Georgia NAACP President Francys Johnson said the organization has received unconfirmed reports of similar problems in counties including DeKalb, Bulloch, Chatham, Dodge, Effingham and Macon-Bibb. He called Thursday for the state to post advisory notices next to voting machines encouraging voters to double-check their choices to make sure they had been properly recorded, as the NAACP in North Carolina have also requested.

ORIGINAL STORY: A voting machine in Bryan County that appeared to be “flipping” some Georgia voters’ picks for president has been removed from service, after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the problem to state elections officials.

A voter who experienced a problem while early voting contacted the AJC, saying it took three tries Tuesday on a machine at the county’s administration complex in Richmond Hill before it correctly recorded his choice of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Officials say votes on 'private' voting machine in Jefferson Parish will count

Source: WWL-TV

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. - When Eyewitness News first broke the story about a 'private' voting machine found in the Registrar of Voters, Dennis DiMarco's conference room, the public sounded off.

That included WWL-TV Political Analyst, Clancy DuBos.

"This is one that hits home for my family," he said. "My mother is 90 years old. Today I was supposed to take her to vote because she gets around on a walker. She called me this morning and said, 'Don't take me to vote today, the lines are too long.' If there were two more voting machines for the public, the wait wouldn't have been so long. Not just today but every day."

DiMarco told Eyewitness News in an earlier report, the machine was "... a convenience for those whose time is, for lack of a better word, maybe more valuable than others."

"This is insulting to the voters of Jefferson Parish," said DuBos. "I think the Feds ought to investigate. I think there are potential state and federal violations there. These machines are to be used by the public and state law specifically states, these machines have to be available and in public the entire time. There's no provision in the law for a VIP voting booth."

The machine has been seized and an investigation is underway. Thursday night, the press office for Louisiana's Secretary of State's Office said all votes that were cast on the machine will count. However, people are outraged over this entire incident.

NC Democratic headquarters attacked on same night nearby GOP office was firebombed

Source: Raw Story

Democratic officials in North Carolina have asked law enforcement to step up protection of campaign workers after Orange County offices for both the Republican and Democratic parties were targeted on the same day.

On Sunday, the Republican Party said that its Orange County headquarters was set ablaze by vandals. Graffiti found on a nearby building said, “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.”

In a message posted to Twitter, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump blamed the attack on “animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina.”

But Orange County Democratic Party Chair Matt Hughes told Raw Story on Monday that vandals had also targeted his offices in Carrboro. Both attacks were said to have occurred early Sunday morning.

A couple of years ago 11 anarchists were arrested after they vandalized buildings in downtown Asheville-- Not sure if there is a connection.

Dem Headquarters in Orange County, NC targeted Sunday

"Just posted from a member of the Orange County NC Board of Elections: appears Democratic HQ in Carrboro also targeted Sunday. Anarchists?"

There are also tweets being posted about the NCGOP illegally collecting absentee ballots-- Those ballots were destroyed in the fire over the weekend.

"It shall be unlawful [a Class I felony!]: (6) For any person to take into that person's possession for delivery to a voter or for return to a county board of elections the absentee ballot of any voter[.]" NC Gen Stat § 163-226.3(6)

Dems help reopen a NC Repub office

On October 16, a North Carolina headquarters of the Republican Party was firebombed , and an abhorrent threat was painted on its outside wall

As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina Republican office to re-open as soon as possible.

Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences. We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs.
