Kashkakat v.2.0
Kashkakat v.2.0's JournalWELL OK BUT....if it comes down to it Ill take "right of Obama" to off-the-charts facism
Vote your heart and mind during the primary but sure as heck don't want to hear this quibbling come November - whoever the dem nominee is.
Should repubs control all branches of govt on both federal and state level - you wont even know what hit you. Im from WI where we have some experience in witnessing the undoing of 100 yrs of progressivism - it truly is Shock Doctrine USA style and once they get going they don't stop. Once they get to selling off public assets there's no un-do button or legislation that can get it back. We've had some of that already... but mostly a lot of laying of groundwork for future pillaging and turning it over to corporate interests - eg removing obstacles to municipalities selling off their water supply/infrastructure to private co.s, removing obstacles to foreign entities buying unlimited quantiies of WI land, etc. Since WI with its 14000 lakes is sitting on/ adjacent to some of largest freshwater resources in the world, you can see why they want to get their greedy mitts on WI. Water they say is going to be the new oil.
Anyway I digress. Point is- sometimes the lesser of evils is a GOOD thing. Buys us a lil more time if nothing else!
Full disclosure: I do intend to vote for Mr Sanders - possibly Martin Omalley just to reward him for doing a good job as a candidate but if it comes to voting for Ms Clinton - you bet I will.
Heres the fact of the matter
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_and_Copper_RuleEPA published the Lead and Copper Rule Minor Revisions (LCRMR) in January 2000. This rule required water suppliers to install the best available corrosion control mechanisms and to continually observe water levels, even if corrosion control was implemented.
May I also refer you to 2011 study that stated Flint river water would require anticorrosion b4 safe to use as drinking water (google it).
Sigh. Maybe its not your intention but it sounds like you're trying to let the criminally negligent perps off the hook
Id certianly agree that infrastructure of all types need updating but you know what .... t he radical RW and their disaster capitalist cronies don't seem to be the least bit interested in replacing old lead pipes in old urban rust belt cities. How do you propose working around that?
HEY Drathaar & ev - pls read up on this specific case before commenting! It was caused by whoever
decided they didn't need to follow the fed regulations re: adding anti-corrosion agents to the water supply.
LOTS of other cities have old lead piping without people dying and suffering permanent impairments because of it.
Someone decided they didn't need to follow no stinkin water regulations. THAT should be the person(s) who get fired.
Not some low level paper shuffler.
ITS NOT EITHER-OR! High regard & sensitivity toward/ empathy for animals usually
translates into the same for the HUMANS in one's life.
This whole false dichotomy of humans VS. animals is just plain weird. And wrong. Its simply NOT an either-or thing. Loving & caring for the well being of animals does not preclude loving and caring for human beings.
IF ANYTHING its the opposite - if youre sensitive to suffering in animals you're sensitive to the same in humans.
The correlation between abuse and mistreatment of animals and abuse/mistreatment of people is well established. Abusers/murderers often get the their start on animals.
Coming from a childhood home of abuse, I can honestly say I learned to love from my pets.
The psychological mechanism that allows people to kill other people is - you make the other person into an "animal" in your mind.... a lesser being whose life has no value. If you value animal life and see and recognize the life shining in their eyes then you will abhor the thought of extinguishing that light whether its an animal or human - if one chooses to hunt for subsistence or raise animals for food then that will still be done with care and respect for the animal and never for thrill or some sick twisted sense of satisfaction.
And one more thing...
My feelings of grief over senseless slaughter of endangered animals (as well as senseless environmental degradation that is leading to accelerating mass extinctions) is partly grief for us, the dominant species who will still be here, lonely and grieving
