Unarmed missile launch scheduled for Sunday at VAFB

An operational test launch of an unarmed missile is scheduled to take place early Sunday morning at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

The launch of the Air Force Global Strike Command unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile is scheduled to occur between 3:51 and 9:51 a.m. from north VAFB. The purpose of the test launch program is to validate and verify the effectiveness, readiness and accuracy of the weapon system, according to Air Force Global Strike Command.

“This mission continues a long string of valuable ICBM flight tests from Vandenberg Air Force Base," said Col. Keith Balts, 30th Space Wing commander, who is the launch decision authority. "It clearly demonstrates the capability of both the Minuteman III weapon system and those who maintain and operate it, to include the hundreds of professionals across the (Department of Defense) who are critical to each test launch.”

They died trying to register to vote yet they had nothing on the ballot to vote for.

I watched the movie "Mississippi Burning" last night. It is about the FBI looking for the bodies of three civil rights workers who were murdered in Mississippi in 1964. It is one of my favorite movies even though the story is depressing as hell.

While I watched the movie my brain kept going back to posts on DU where it is said there is nothing on the ballot to vote for so why vote.

In 1964 many people gave their lives for the right to vote and I don't think at the time there was anything on the ballot for them to vote for. I think the hope that some day there would be something to vote for must have been in their hearts.

Today they still are having a hard time trying to vote but my guess is they will overcome what ever is put in their way and vote even if there isn't much in Mississippi for them to vote for.
