What is Red Nose Day? It is coming up May 21

Supposedly if you give to Red Nose Day you are helping kids in poverty.
I never heard of it before.

Multiple local news outlets reported a pungent smell from spilled oil on the popular beach about 20 miles west of downtown Santa Barbara.

U.S. Coast Guard crews were responding to an “unknown sheen” at Refugio, the guard’s Los Angeles/Long Beach office Twitter account stated.

The sheen was from a ruptured pipeline on the shore side that had been “secured,” the Coast Guard office later confirmed in a tweet.

County fire and emergency officials were responding to the 4-mile-wide of oil slick, the Coast Guard stated, saying it would oversee cleanup of the oil.

The Coast Guard also said in a tweet that Exxon was responding, but ExxonMobil spokesman Christian Flathman said the pipeline was not one of the company’s and the company was not responding. Flathman said he planned to contact the Coast Guard.

Houston-based Plains All-American Pipeline was later identified as the “responsible party.”

I like Hillary and I like Bernie.

But one thing I noticed. Bernie is talking about what he would like to see happen and Hillary is talking about what is likely to happen.
That is the difference to me. Hillary supporters seem grounded and see themselves as change agents. Bernie supporters seem to be helpless and drifting and hope Bernie gets in office to put some ground under their feet.
That's one reason why I support Hillary.

They don't support Hillary. Some say they

won't vote for her if she is the nominee.
But they demand that she run her campaign by their whims.

Breaking news: Russ Feingold just officially announced he's running again for the United States

Senate

Dear MoveOn member,

Breaking news: Russ Feingold just officially announced he's running again for the United States Senate.

Up until 2011, Russ Feingold was one of the most principled progressives in the U.S. Senate. On issue after issue—from his sole vote against the Patriot Act in 2001, to coming out early and strongly against the Iraq War, to being the leading voice for getting money out of politics—we could always count on Russ Feingold speaking out strongly for progressive values.

We need Russ Feingold back in the Senate working alongside Elizabeth Warren and other progressive champions now more than ever. Let's welcome him into the race by showing that we're ready to fight alongside him again

Let's make it easy on the Koch's ad writers.

They spend $900,000,000 buying all the air time on all the networks with this one word ad, "Socialist."
We give the next four Supreme Court placements to the Kochs. A conservative court for the next 30 years. Way to give them their money's worth.

I got some mail from the President

Most likely a form fund raising letter.
It went straight to the shredder without being opened.
I hope he can still accomplish something for the middle class before he leaves office but he may as well be in retirement as far as I am concerned.
The TPP was the last chance for me.

We could move the country in a more progressive

direction if we win the White House in 2016.
Chances are if we have a Dem President in 2017 we will have elected a majority in the Senate.
That President could potentially place 4 judges on the Supreme Court bench in eight years. That would give us a liberal court for the next 30 or 40 years.
So who ever wins our primary we need to support them in the General.
If we lose it means a return to pre New Deal times. 2016 will be the best shot younger voters will have in shaping their future. Let's hope most of us remain pragmatic about this. Any talk of not voting for our candidate in the general should be met with angst I think. This is no time for staying home.
