Burlington Got BERNED

Burlington College announced today that it will close on May 27 after it found itself unable to recover from “the crushing weight of the debt” incurred under Jane O’Meara Sanders, the college’s former president and wife of Bernie Sanders.

At the end of 2010, Ms. Sanders took out $10 million in loans on behalf of Burlington College to purchase a 32-acre swathe of land from the Roman Catholic diocese, which put the land up for sale to help cover the costs of a $17 million sexual-abuse settlement.

The rest:

Elizabeth Warren. Barbara Boxer. Kamala Harris. Rachel Maddow.

This is who was tossed under the Bernie bus by Bernie fans just this week alone.

Revolutions always always always eventually devour their own, as purification's and purity tests continue, it guarantee's the revolution factions off forever, continually splintering, never able to build coalitions. Solidarity becomes a strictly exclusive club, no inclusion, no unity.

Your enemy isnt someone who agrees with you 95% of the time, those are called allies.

When youre tossing Elizabeth Warren, Barbara Boxer, Kamala Harris, and Rachel Maddow under the bus, perhaps you need to do some soul searching.

UPDATE #1: Edited to add Rachel Maddow. That was quick. Im sure theres more to come. Remember: revolutions, even fake ones, always always always devour their own. Stay tuned.

"She's deeply flawed!" "Shes weak!" "Shes too ambitious!" Etc.

These are passive aggressive sexist phrases. Stop it.

Newsflash: "Shes running 2 campaigns, and winning them both!"

Why isnt Bernie ambitious enough?

Hillary seems much more ambitious, and ambition is a great trait to possess.

Also, that article you are all reccing about Hillary's "ambition" was written by someone who makes a living being a vocal critic of environmentalists who want climate action. Yes, a global warming denier is what Bernie fans are now bringing to DU to trash Hillary.

Anyone remember George W. Bush?

Because it is pretty hilarious/sad seeing "progressives" blame all of America's problems on the Clintons and Obamas.

Remember that guy who was handed a budget surplus and turned it into an economic collapse? That guy who was handed a 3.3% unemployment rate and turned it into a 2nd Great Depression and catastrophic job losses? That guy who was handed documents titled 'Bin Laden Determined To Strike the US' and turned it into a national security fail known as 9/11? That guy who botched every detail of a hurricane response then told his team how they did a heckuva job?

Bill Clinton was a southern Democrat in the 90s who had to wrestle 12 years of power back from the Republican party during the height of the conservative revolution, not exactly an era of progressivism, yet his presidency also resulted in him creating 23 million jobs, the longest stretch of peacetime in US history, the lowest Af-American unemployment rate in US history, nominated the 2 most liberal justices in US history, taxed the rich, and left a budget surplus. Pretty impressive.

And then there's Barack Obama; THE GREATEST DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT IN US HISTORY. The guy who saved America from a 2nd Great Depression. The most CONSEQUENTIAL president of our lifetime. 💯

But somehow here on DU, progressives have seem to forgotten George W. Bush and his legacy of destruction and incompetence. Weird. Everything is the Clintons and Obamas fault.

It is going to be amazing seeing America's 1st black prez campaigning for America's 1st woman prez.

And joining forces to STOP America's first orange president, the tangerine terror, Donald J. Douche.

It's going to be so epic. Barry and Hillz out on the trail, plus an army of surrogates like Liz Warren, John Lewis, and even world leaders, ready to just destroy the misogynist, racist, absurd reality tv show host with a dead squirrel on his head. Take back the senate. End the Republican party.

The debates are going to be hilarious watching Trump just getting shellacked, sulking, whining, making faces. (*kisses fingers* muah!)

Love trumps hate.

Bernie wins West Virginia, Hillary wins East Virginia.

Since they usually vote wildly different, which Virginia would you rather win in the General Election?

Hillary To Lay Out Agenda For Making Child Care Better And More Affordable

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday will sketch out an agenda for helping families with young children, including an ambitious promise to put high-quality child care within financial reach of all working parents.

Clinton will explain her vision, campaign aides told The Huffington Post, during an appearance in Kentucky. The speech will mark the second consecutive day in which Clinton, front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, is focusing on work-family issues.

The most concrete part of the agenda, the campaign aides say, will be the two narrow but potentially important proposals. One would bolster a highly regarded “home visiting” program designed to help low-income children at risk of emotional, intellectual, and physical harm. If Clinton has her way, the program, known as theMaternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Initiative, would reach twice as many children as it does today.

The other initiative Clinton plans to introduce Tuesday would seek to boost pay for child-care workers, as a way to improve retention and attract educators with stronger qualifications. Clinton will call this the RAISE initiative, for “Respect And Increased Salaries for Early Childhood Educators,” and it will be based on successful pilot programs now operating in several states.

But by far the most intriguing part of Tuesday’s speech may be a promise that Clinton intends to make. According to the campaign aides, Clinton will say that the federal government should commit to making sure that no family ever pays more than 10 percent of its income on child-care expenses.

I know, I know, boring stuff, like wonkish policy grounded in political reality.

Obsession over Hillary emails = shilling for Judicial Watch and Citizens United.

Its amazing who progressives will put on a cape for. So as of now, Bernie fans entire fantasy scenario/outcome rests upon an ultra conservative, rightwing group with ties to hate groups and white supremacists.

Meanwhile, some of these same progressives are also threatening to not vote for the candidate who has garnered overwhelming support from minorities, women, and communities of color. Which undoubtedly would harm minorities, women, and communities of color the most.

This has been an eye opening election cycle to say the least. Not only for whom the capes are put on for, but also for whom the capes are taken off for.

No one is giving Bernie Sanders the nomination, stop it.

A hacker isnt giving Bernie the nomination. Emails arent giving Bernie the nomination. HA Goodman isnt giving Bernie the nomination. Traffic tickets arent giving Bernie the nomination. Superdelegates arent giving Bernie the nomination. Voters arent giving Bernie the nomination. Conspiracy theories arent giving Bernie the nomination.

Despite all of the teeth gnashing and Hillary bashing, as it is now, the only thing standing in the way of Trump turning America into an anarcho-capitalist 4th world hellhole, is Hillary Clinton.

And when she does stop Trump, and she will, every sane, rational person around the entire world will be thanking her endlessly for saving us all from a reckless, racist, absurd reality tv show host with a dead squirrel on his head, an orange white supremacist, the tangerine terror.

Hillary is winning the primary fair and square (and spending a lot less money doing so), she has earned every delegate and vote. She has built a broad and diverse coalition. Stop looking for ways to subvert democracy and the will of the people, who by the way, are overwhelmingly voting for Hillary.
