Yes, today IS the day to talk about gun control, you know what today is NOT the day for?

Gun apologists to crawl out of the woodwork to defend their fetish in internet forums. What are they so afraid of, we don't control policy/legislation. If anyone wants to spend their time during this tragedy & National mourning defending gun culture, feel free to write to your fucking Senators and express your concern. Here we vent by imagining a world not filled with violence. A world where we strive for good. One where where we give a shit more about healthcare & well-being of our citizens instead of corporate profits. We look for solutions and exchange ideas.

PS: And for fucks sake these were legally purchased guns which as far as we know weren't even locked up! Is it too much to ask these gun freaks to at least start locking up these goddamn weapons somewhere safe?! I'm all FOR free speech, I've been bloodied defending it in my life, but I'm also FOR knowing when to shut the fuck up.

Sorry about the rant, but the more these details keep rolling in the more horrified I become. This will psychologically damage our Nation. As a parent of a Pre-K child myself, this is a nightmare scenario that will live with me everyday I send my child to school for the next 18+ years. Every. Single. Day. And all I/We ask is that we take steps to ensuring these scenarios can be minimized or even neutralized.

The Fall of 'Trickle-Down' and the Rise of 'Middle-Out' Economics

Call it the Osawatomie Doctrine: President Obama's election victory one month ago today began with a speech he made one year ago today

A year ago, President Obama gave a speech in Osawatomie, Kansas where he laid out a vision of how the economy grows. This vision proved a successful way to connect with voters during the campaign. Now, as Congress debates whether to push the U.S. economy over the so-called fiscal cliff and policymakers consider far-reaching changes to our nation's tax code and entitlement, this is the time to effect on the economic reality behind Obama's middle-out economics.

On December 6th, 2011, President Obama made the argument that the economy grows from the middle out. This argument was a direct refutation of the supply-side argument that claims that economic growth comes from lowering costs for businesses, most especially keeping taxes low and enacting limited regulations.

In Osawatomie, President Obama said, "I am here to say the [the supply siders] are wrong. I'm here in Kansas to reaffirm my deep conviction that we're greater together than we are on our own. I believe that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share, when everyone plays by the same rules".

This economic message was honed during the campaign. President Obama emphasized this theme in the second debate and spoke regularly about it this fall. "I believe you grow the economy from the middle out," he said in a key October ad.

Breaking: House GOP Fiscal Cliff Counter-Offer

Welp, no surprises here:

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans negotiating with President Barack Obama on avoiding the so-called fiscal cliff are proposing to increase the eligibility age for Medicare and to lower cost-of-living hikes in Social Security benefits.

The proposal is a response to Obama's offer last week to hike taxes by $1.6 trillion over the coming decade but to exempt Medicare and Social Security from cuts to beneficiaries.

The GOP plan also proposes to raise $800 billion in higher tax revenue over the decade but would keep the Bush-era tax cuts — including those for wealthier earners being targeted by Obama — in place for now.

House Speaker John Boehner said the GOP proposal is a "credible plan" for Obama and that he hopes the administration would "respond in a timely and responsible way."

Guaranteed To Make RWNJ Heads EXPLODE

A painting that features President Obama posed as Jesus Christ crucified on a cross is on display at a community college art gallery in Boston.

The painting by Michael D’Antuono is part of a larger exhibit called “Artists on the Stump – the Road to the White House 2012.” It’s on display at the Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery until Dec. 15th.

The painting is called “Truth” – and shows the president on the cross with his arms outstretched. A crown of thorns rests on his head.

-snip-

“The crucifixion of the president was meant metaphorically,” he told Fox News. “My intent was not to compare him to Jesus.”
D’Antuono blamed the controversy on conservative media “trying to promote the idea that liberals believe the president to literally be our savior.”
