Stimulus check holdup

I don’t get it...the House passed a bill to add an additional $1400 the already $600 stimulus checks (albeit the old House)....the only thing holding it up was Mitch McConnell bringing it up for a vote on the Senate floor...there were several republican senators in favor of it including Josh Hawley....this was a talking point during the Georgia runoffs...I don’t see why the house doesn’t pass the same exact bill and send it to the senate for a vote....they are making it more complicated than it needs to be (at least for the stimulus portion)

Should Democrats in ruby red Republican states change their party

In ruby red states like Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, where a Democrat isn’t going to win a general election, maybe it’s best to vote in the Republican primary to at least get the saner of the Republican candidates...I say that because of the ultra right wing Senators who have been elected lately and because of people like Huckabee-Sanders who is now running for governor of Arkansas

Edit - I feel like Democrats can have more of a say this way

Ohio Senator Portman not running in 2022

This will be either good or bad news....the good news is Portman was a shoe-in to win so the Democrats have a 50/50 chance to win now....the bad news is that if the Democrats don’t win then whoever the Republican is will be further to the right of Portman..

Lionizing of troops

As a former military member, one thing that drives me crazy is the American lionizing of troops. I was actually uncomfortable and embarrassed when people would thank me for my service or do something special for me just because I was in the military.....and I got news for you, there are A LOT of unethical, dumb, racist, loser assholes in the military, the members are a microcosm of America...putting on a uniform doesn’t make you a better person, unfortunately sometimes it makes people worse

So Republicans are always in charge?

When Republicans barely win elections and have legislative majorities - Republicans say with no MSM pushback ‘elections have consequences, we are going to jam everything we want through our small majority’

When Democrats win big or small - Republicans say with the MSM agreeing - ‘We need bipartisanship, nothing should pass without Republican agreement’

And why is always the Democrats that have to put Republicans in their cabinet...Trump, the Bushes and Reagan didn’t..

Now this is bipartisanship

Probably the only time that Boebert and Greene will have the same vote as AOC and Ohmar (of course Boebert and Greene voted this way because they are partisan hacks) or that many Republicans will side with Biden....
