Top House Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (CA) went on Fox News Sunday and blew up their attempt to revive the Clinton email scandal by exposing Republican plot to bring down Hillary Clinton.

WALLACE: Congressman Schiff, I want to pick up on one thing that Senator Lankford said, the inspector general, Charles McCullough, who sent this information, and he wasn’t offering it, he was simply reporting what the intelligence community was saying, appointed by Barack Obama, confirmed unanimously by a Democratic-controlled Senate. He hardly seems like the right person for a political hit job.
SCHIFF: Well, I would say this, Chris, you’ve got several Republican chairs who are actively campaigning against Hillary Clinton and doing investigations of her at the same time. One of which went to a —
WALLACE: Charles McCullough isn’t. He was a — he was an Obama appointee.
SCHIFF: No, no, no. No, let me finish. One of which went to a Trump rally and said his purpose is to defeat Hillary Clinton. These are people who are conducting investigation in Congress of the secretary during the presidential campaign. So I think the inspector general has to be very careful not allow — not to allow him to be used by one political party against another during the presidential race. And I think the inspector general had to know or should know that when you put an unclassified form letter, you have to reasonably expect it’s going to be leaked. And that letter, I have to say, was gratuitous in the information it included. It could have transmitted the information from the intelligence community without commentary in it. But by putting that commentary in it, knowing it’s going to be leaked, I think the inspector general does risk his reputation. And once you lose that as inspector general, you’re not much good to anyone. So I think the inspector general has to be very careful here...........................

Julian Castro, a rising star in the Democratic Party, was stumping for Hillary Clinton in southeastern Iowa on Sunday when a union leader extended a hand and a question in Spanish.
“I heard Clinton might pick you for vice president,” said Jose Pulido, who represents workers at a hog slaughterhouse that has helped draw thousands of Latinos to this small city straddling the icy Des Moines River.
Castro flashed a toothy smile. “Quien sabes,” he answered, shaking his head. Who knows?
As the secretary of Housing and Urban Development and former mayor of San Antonio, Castro’s ethnic roots, up-from-the-bootstraps story and quick ascent in politics have earned him comparisons to President Obama. He is frequently mentioned as a possible vice presidential pick for Clinton, should she prevail as her party's nominee.

The Clinton campaign’s Latino outreach efforts here are led by Irene Munoz, a Roman Catholic nun who has watched the town change in recent years as Latinos have moved in to take low-paying jobs at the pork processing plant on the southern edge of town..................
......Holly Moore, a Clinton volunteer in Fairfield, came away impressed. She said she liked Castro’s politics, especially his work to expand education opportunities for young children.
His ethnicity, she said, is a nice bonus. “I don’t think anybody can be president anymore without a diverse ticket,” she said.

The Hyde Amendment is an obscure budget rider that bans any federal funding from covering abortion services, which means low-income women on Medicaid can’t use their plans to cover an abortion. It has also helped limit access for government employees, military personnel, those in the Peace Corps, and others. It’s become a routine piece of policy, renewed in every federal spending bill since 1976, and frequently becomes a political football, as when President Obama signed an executive order including restrictions along the lines of Hyde in the Affordable Care Act as a way to win support for the bill’s passage.
But now both frontrunners for the Democratic presidential nomination have come out against it, calling for it to be repealed. Hillary Clinton has repeatedly called for a reversal of Hyde, and now Bernie Sanders has followed suit.
On Friday, Sanders said in a statement, “Women must have full control over their reproductive health in order to have full control over their lives. We must rescind the Hyde Amendment and resist attempts by states to erect roadblocks to abortion.” Sanders has voted against the Hyde Amendment while serving in both the House and Senate, but his statement made his intentions clear to repeal it once and for all if elected. ....................

In the fall of 2005, the city of New York was preparing a mammoth lawsuit against 14 gun manufacturers and 27 distributors and dealers. The suit set out to prove that the gun industry bore a responsibility for the volume of guns illegally trafficked into the city.

"New York was a very strong case," says Jonathan Lowy, an attorney at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence who worked on the case. "We were completely ready for trial."
But the trial never came. In October 2005, Congress passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), granting sweeping legal immunity to the gun industry. Gun manufacturers who lobbied for the bill warned that suits like New York's were a scheme hatched by activist lawyers and judges to bankrupt the gun industry. The bill's sponsor, Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho), ..........................
After the PLCAA passed, New York's case was thrown out. The city never got its day in court.
More than a decade after its passage, the PLCAA is at the center of a fierce debate over gun control between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, the leading candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination. As a senator from New York in 2005, Clinton voted against the PLCAA; Sanders, then in the House of Representatives, voted for it, as he had done for an earlier iteration of the measure that failed in 2003. Recently, Clinton has accused Sanders of bowing to the National Rifle Association on this key piece of legislation. Sanders, who hails from a rural state with lax gun laws, has defended his vote as a way to protect the "small mom-and-pop gun shop" in Vermont from frivolous lawsuits.
But Sanders' argument obfuscates the true impact of his vote—namely, that the lawsuits he helped derail once represented the most viable effort in decades to stem the flow of guns onto the black market................

GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz says his family is no longer covered by health insurance, and he thinks it’s all Obamacare’s fault.
“I’ll tell you, you know who one of those millions of Americans is who’s lost their health care because of Obamacare? That would be me,” Cruz told the audience at a campaign stop New Hampshire on Thursday evening. “I don’t have health care right now.”
But the Affordable Care Act isn’t directly responsible for Cruz’s current situation.
Last year, the Cruz family signed up for health insurance through Obamacare’s state insurance marketplaces. (Thanks to a Republican-sponsored amendment that was introduced to prove a point about Obamacare, federal lawmakers and their staffers are required to enroll in these Obamacare plans if they want to maintain the government contribution to their insurance.)

What should have been a fun photo shoot at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix turned ugly when several students used the letters on their T-shirts to spell out a racist word.
The roughly three dozen girls in the original photo lined up in T-shirts each with a single letter or asterisk to spell out BEST*YOU'VE*EVER*SEEN*CLASS*OF*2016:
But six of students got together and decided to spell out a new word:

"I was shocked," freshman Jaden Phillips told the The Arizona Republic. "I didn't expect that, white girls saying the N word."
