Greene got into a heated exchange with a female caller over the congresswoman's views on abortion. "You're blaming this all on the women," the caller told Greene. "My body is my body, I don't want the government telling me what I can do with my body."

Marjorie Taylor Greene Flees Interview After Callers Grill Her—’She’s Gone’

Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene abruptly left an appearance on a local TV show in which she was taking questions, prompting confusion from the hosts.

Greene took part in the call-in show Night Talk on North Georgia's UCTV on Monday night.

During the show, Greene answered questions from co-host Judy O'Neal about the controversy surrounding the GOP lawmaker, such as the texts she allegedly sent to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows in the days before the January 6 attack, as well as calls from the audience regarding her views on abortion.

After around one hour of taking questions, one caller told Greene that she was "proud" of her voting record in Congress, and that she would be voting for the congresswoman in the upcoming midterms. Greene then thanked the woman, before Night Talk went to commercials.

Just as the show cut out, Greene could be heard explaining that she had to leave, although the reason why was not broadcast.........................

Dow soars 500 points as traders cheer stronger-than-forecast U.S. economic growth data

Source: cnbc

Maley: We're finally seeing the lagged effect of the Fed's policy tightening on the economy

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged Thursday after the economy grew at a faster-than-expected pace in the third quarter.

The Dow climbed 539 points, or 1.7%. The S&P 500 added 0.7%, while the Nasdaq lost 0.1%.

U.S. GDP increased increased at a 2.6% annualized pace for the period, against the Dow Jones estimate for 2.3% growth. The report, the first quarter of positive growth for 2022, eased investors’ concerns about a recession.

But the tech sector continued its recent woes, which have weighed down the Nasdaq. Shares of the Facebook parent company plummeted 24% on a weak fourth-quarter forecast and disappointing third-quarter earnings. The company also said it would lose even more money next year building out the metaverse. The report led to several analysts downgrading the stock.

“Investors are still struggling for direction and want clarity with respect to earnings and what the Fed will do going forward,” said Adam Sarhan, CEO of 50 Park Investments. “Remember, the market is a forward-looking mechanism and the earnings reports tell us what happened in the past. Investors want clarity and certainty. Right now, we still have a lot of uncertainty on multiple levels.”

Europe's energy crisis raises firewood prices, theft fears

Source: AP

By VANESSA GERA, DAVID McHUGH and AUREL OBREJA today

CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) —.....................

.....................

“I won’t use gas anymore, so it’s going to only be wood,” Popescu said. “But what I have isn’t enough.”

Europe’s energy crisis, triggered by Russia slashing natural gas flows amid its war against Ukraine, has forced some people to turn to cheaper heating sources like firewood as the weather gets colder. But as more people stock up and burn wood, prices have skyrocketed, shortages and thefts have been reported, and scams are emerging. Foresters are putting GPS devices into logs to track the valuable stocks, and fears are rising about the environmental impact of increased air pollution and tree-cutting.

In the former Soviet republic of Moldova, leaders worry that this winter could be devastating for many of its people because of the high cost of electricity and heat, with European natural gas prices roughly triple what they were in early 2021 despite falling from August’s record highs. Europe’s poorest country, with pro-Western aspirations but part of its territory controlled by Russian troops, has seen Russian energy giant Gazprom slash natural gas supplies by 30% recently and threaten more cuts.

The clamor for firewood is not limited to poorer nations like Moldova but has surged across richer regions of Europe, too. Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic’s state-owned forests are seeing much stronger demand for the limited amounts of firewood they sell as part of their sustainable forest management.

.................................
There is also the damaging environmental impact of chopping down more trees.
....................

Often those cut are young trees. The forests, she said, are being subjected to “vulgar deforestation without any criteria and control.”

It is rather a long article. More details on how much prices have increases and effects on the environment.

Son Of Confederate Flag-Wielding Capitol Rioter Sentenced To Prison

Source: crooksandliars.com

By Conover Kennard — October 25, 2022

A Delaware man who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, with his father was just sentenced to two years in prison. You'll likely remember Hunter Seefried's father, Kevin, who held a Confederate flag while walking around the Capitol after they gained entrance after Proud Boy Dominic Pezzola used a police shield to shatter a Capitol window. Confederate flags have never been featured before in the Capitol in the history of the U.S. -- until Jan. 6.

Kyle Cheney of Politico reports that the younger Seefried was 21 when he stormed the Capitol with his old racist Confederate flag-humping dad.

................

After Hunter serves his prison term, he will be placed on one year of supervised release. According to the Department of Justice, he also must pay $2,000 in restitution.

Do you believe only 9% see abortion as a "major election issue".

there is that old saying that people vote with their wallets. I was out canvassing this weekend and inflation seems to be on a lot of peoples minds.

Dear Colleague on Democrats’ Fight to Lower the Cost of Living
October 22, 2022
Press Release

Dear Democratic Colleague,

The upcoming election will be decided at the kitchen table, as America’s families determine who they trust to fight for them in this challenging moment. That is why we must communicate a clear, convincing message on why families are experiencing higher prices, what House Democrats have done to ease that burden, and what a future Democratic Majority will do to further drive down the cost of living.

Two years ago, a deadly virus that was mismanaged by Republicans in power wreaked havoc on our economy: stealing jobs, shuttering small businesses, strangling supply chains. Putin’s unjustified war against Ukraine has roiled energy markets and supply chains. Greedy corporations and special interests have sought to take advantage of the crisis: stealing from families by raising prices to obscene levels. The result is a global scourge of inflation — and while other nations are experiencing much worse inflation, we’re all feeling the sting of higher prices here at home.

Long before global inflation hit the kitchen table, Democrats have been laser-focused on lowering the cost of living for America’s working families. With the election of President Biden and Democratic Majorities in Congress, we have sparked a record-setting jobs recovery: creating 10 million new good-paying jobs and ensuring that, right now, more families have the dignity and security of a regular paycheck. And at the same time, we have enacted landmark laws to make progress toward lowering the cost of living:

Inflation Reduction Act: slashing the cost of prescription drugs, locking in lower health care premiums, cutting energy bills and reducing the deficit — while ensuring it’s fully paid for by making the wealthiest few and big corporations pay their fair share. Every single Republican, House and Senate, voted No.
American Rescue Plan: lowering health care costs, extending needed unemployment benefits and delivering a vital lifeline in the Child Tax Credit. Again, every single Republican voted No.
Infrastructure Law: putting America’s back to work rebuilding our roads, bridges, ports and water systems — which will cut commute times, save families on car repairs and bring down transit costs. 200 House Republicans voted No.
CHIPS and Science Act: reinvigorating American semiconductor manufacturing, strengthening supply chains and investing in innovation. 187 House Republicans voted No.

But we know more must be done to lower the cost of living for America’s working families. Our House-passed investments in family and medical leave, Child Tax Credit, child care, home health care, universal pre-K and affordable housing would bring down the costs of the biggest line items in families’ budgets and give them more breathing room. At the same time, House Democrats have passed the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act to take on corporate greed, and the Lower Food & Fuel Costs Act to combat price gouging at the gas pump and in the grocery aisle. All of these measures were overwhelmingly opposed by House Republicans, and they are currently being blocked by Senate Republicans. Enacting them into law is a top priority for a Democratic Majority in the next Congress.

Thanks to Democrats’ bold actions, inflation will subside — but Republicans’ shameful votes against bringing down the cost of living are forever etched in stone.

Extreme MAGA Republicans have no record of lowering costs, no agenda to fight inflation, and no interest in fighting for working families — because they are deep in the pocket of the ultra-rich donors and big corporations who fill their campaign coffers. Instead, their alarming agenda would make inflation worse. According to the Wall Street Journal, Republicans are plotting to align with Big Pharma to repeal lower prescription drug costs, which would send the cost of living soaring. And disturbingly, Republicans are openly threatening to use the debt limit to slash Social Security and Medicare, playing political games with our seniors’ futures.

The contrast is crystal clear: while Republicans are beholden to special interests, Democrats have taken them on — and triumphed — on behalf of America’s working families. And we will continue our laser-focused fight to lower the cost of living, because Democrats put People Over Politics: lower costs, better-paying jobs and safer communities.

Thank you for your continued leadership to build brighter, fairer future for all of America’s families.

Trump Was Warned Not to Sign False Voter Fraud Doc

Some court submissions require “verified complaints” or affidavits in support of a motion, meaning that the information contained within has been verified by the plaintiff filing the suit or the attorney filing the motion. The verification may be near meaningless to the suit, or it can mean everything, depending on the type of filing. In either case, the submission better damn well be accurate, whether it’s a critical document or a motion for an extension. Perjury applies if a person lies. It is very difficult to tell from Axios’s reporting what kind of affidavit Trump signed, but it’s now clear that Trump signed a document attesting to information from Georgia that he knew wasn’t true. That’s bad. Always. ‘
.................

...............

A senior White House lawyer expressed concerns to President Trump’s advisers and attorneys about the president signing a sworn court statement verifying inaccurate evidence of voter fraud, according to emails from December 2020 obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: The emails shed new light on a federal judge’s explosive finding Wednesday that Trump knew specific instances of voter fraud in Georgia had been debunked, but continued to tout them both in public and under oath…

…In one email cited in Judge Carter’s opinion, Eastman told Trump’s team that the president had been made aware that some of the allegations and evidence of voter fraud used in a Georgia election lawsuit were inaccurate..................

I still have some hope that soon--after the election, Trump will be charged with a crime.

Gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels speaks Saturday, May 21, 2022, during the state Republican Party convention in Middleton.

MADISON - Former President Donald Trump's preferred candidate for governor won't say whether he would certify the next presidential election if Trump makes another run for the White House and again loses the key battleground state of Wisconsin.

Tim Michels, a wealthy construction executive endorsed by Trump, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the question is too hypothetical to answer at this point, adopting a similar position his Republican primary opponent Rebecca Kleefisch took when asked whether she would have certified the 2020 election.

Steve Bannon is going to jail today.--but maybe not!.....

Happy Friday At least it may give the slop a few moments of indigestion as he awaits the judge's decision.
I did not know that he was appealing this sentence. Of course I should have !!!

A few moments of glee for me!!--but not hopeful at this point until I see the handcuffs on him.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The federal government announced Tuesday a program that will provide $1.3 billion in debt relief for about 36,000 farmers who have fallen behind on loan payments or face foreclosure.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the farm loan relief program funded from $3.1 billion set aside in the Inflation Reduction Act allocated toward assisting distressed borrowers of direct or guaranteed loans administered by USDA. The law was passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden in August.

The USDA provides loans to about 115,000 farmers and livestock producers who cannot obtain commercial credit. Those who have missed payments, are in foreclosure or are heading toward default will get help from the USDA. Financial difficulties for farmers may be caused by a variety of issues including drought and transportation bottlenecks.

“Through no fault of their own, our nation’s farmers and ranchers have faced incredibly tough circumstances over the last few years,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “The funding included in today’s announcement helps keep our farmers farming and provides a fresh start for producers in challenging positions.”

About 11,000 farm borrowers delinquent on direct or guaranteed loan payments for 60 days or longer are receiving automatic electronic payments to get them current on their loans. Each farmer with a direct loan received about $52,000 and those with guaranteed loans received about $172,000. The total cost for this group is nearly $600 million. Farmers who received this help will get a letter informing them that their payments have been made and they will remain current until their next annual payment is due in 2023, Vilsack said.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
