For 1 million and up, inaugural donors will get candlelight dinner with Trump and other access

The special rewards being offered to Trump's biggest backers could cut against his pledge to 'drain the swamp' and run an administration free from the influence of wealthy interests

The committee raising money for President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural festivities is offering exclusive access to the new president, Cabinet nominees and congressional leaders in exchange for donations of 1 million and more.

For seven-figure contributions, Trump's richest supporters will get a slew of special perks during the inauguration weekend, including eight tickets to a candlelight dinner that will feature special appearances by Trump, his wife, Melania, Vice President-elect Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, according to a sheet detailing underwriter package benefits obtained by The Washington Post. The 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee confirmed the authenticity of the donor brochure, which was first reported by the Center for Public Integrity.

Other million-donor benefits include an exclusive lunch with select Cabinet appointees and House and Senate leadership, four tickets to an intimate dinner with the Pences, eight tickets to a lunch with the ladies of the first families, eight tickets and premier access to the inaugural ball and priority booking at Premier Inaugural Hotel(s)............................

Every single cabinet member appointed by Donald Trump so far opposes LGBT rights.
...........

So far the billionaire – who claimed he would “protect our L-G-B-T-Q citizens” while running for election – has appointed a string of politicians who oppose LGBT rights.

With many spots still up for grabs, here’s a run-down of Trump’s cabinet so far:

Attorney General Jeff Sessions

Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions is known as one of the most conservative and anti-LGBT members of Congress, holding a 0 percent rating on the Human Rights Campaign’s Congressional Scorecard on LGBT rights.

He fought vocally against equal marriage and discrimination protections for LGBT people, and opposed lifting the ban on openly gay people serving in the military.

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos

Betsy DeVos is a prominent donor to the anti-gay marriage lobby. She previously donated $200,000 in a successful bid to add an anti-gay marriage amendment to the Michigan ballot.

DeVos family organisations have also made large donations to anti-gay marriage causes – $500,000 to the National Organization for Marriage, and $100,000 to Florida4Marriage.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price

Judge denies request for hand recount of Wisconsin's presidential election results

STATE RECOUNT | stein campaign submits $3.5M payment

MARK SOMMERHAUSER and MATTHEW DeFOUR Wisconsin State Journal 6 hrs ago 86

A Dane County judge on Tuesday denied a request by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton to require all votes in Wisconsin’s presidential election to be recounted by hand, as officials in each of the state’s 72 counties ready for the recount to begin Thursday.

....................................................................................

Clinton’s legal team largely stayed on the sidelines in the recount until Tuesday, when her campaign joined Stein’s court request for a hand recount.

Clinton’s attorney, Josh Kaul, wrote in a memo to the court that a hand recount is “preferable to a machine recount because human beings can assess voter intent in a way that machines cannot.”

Fifty-six counties have told the commission or the Wisconsin State Journal that they plan to do full or partial hand recounts. Other counties plan to use scanning machines to re-tabulate the votes............................................

It makes no sense at all to put the ballots through the SAME machines.

Needs a real audit-not just a recount.

The Internet Archive, a nonprofit that saves copies of old web pages, is creating a backup of its database in Canada, in response to the election of Donald Trump.

“On November 9th in America, we woke up to a new administration promising radical change,” the organization wrote in a blogpost explaining the move. “It was a firm reminder that institutions like ours, built for the long-term, need to design for change.”

The Internet Archive is responsible for services like the Wayback Machine, a tool that allows users to access cached versions of websites long after they are pulled from the internet, and Open Library, which offers free access to millions of e-books......................................

Texas Officials to Force Burial, Cremation of Fetal Remains

Source: rewire.news

Nov 29, 2016, 2:13pm Teddy Wilson

“These new restrictions reveal the callous indifference that Texas politicians have toward women,” said David Brown, senior staff attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights.

Despite criticism from funeral homes, abortion providers, and reproductive rights advocates, Texas health officials on Monday filed the final version of proposed rules requiring the remains of aborted or miscarried fetuses to be buried or cremated.

Texas health officials on Monday filed the final version of proposed rules requiring the remains of aborted or miscarried fetuses to be buried or cremated, despite criticism from funeral homes, abortion providers, and reproductive rights advocates.

The regulations will apply to all fetal remains, regardless of the period of gestation when the miscarriage or abortion occurred. Under the proposed rules, any other tissue—including the “placenta, umbilical cord and gestational sac”—can still be disposed of through other methods, like incineration or grinding up and discharging to a sewer system.

The regulations are set to take effect on December 19. The Center for Reproductive Rights has promised to challenge the new rules in court..............................................

Sheriff 'Pitchfork" Clarke complains of the media like Trump & Meets with him Monday.....

ha ha. He wanted his interview to be front page news--He has a big ego just like Trump.
Seriously--this "law and order" sheriff is a danger to the U.S.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. — who traveled the country campaigning for Donald Trump — met Monday afternoon with the president-elect at Trump Tower about a possible job in the new administration.

Accompanied by his wife Julie, Clarke left the meeting around 4:15 p.m. (Central time), waved at supporters in the hotel lobby but took no questions from the media.

Clarke, dressed in a black suit, red tie and white Stetson for the interview, has been mentioned widely as a potential Trump appointee to head the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, though insiders say he might be open to a policy position in the White House on security matters. The sheriff runs as a Democrat but is a hard-right conservative.

"The sheriff has nothing to say," Clarke spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin said Friday of his chat with Trump. But on Sunday, an unsigned post on the Facebook page for the Milwaukee County sheriff's office complained that a story on Clarke's interview wasn't getting more attention.

"Funny, Dan Bice's gossip column gets front page when it's about the sheriff," the post said. "The MJS buried this story in the middle of the paper. Meeting with the President-elect doesn't warrant front page placement?"

David A. Clarke Jr. — Milwaukee County’s law-and-order sheriff — lit up social media over the weekend by saying it’s “pitchforks and torches time.”

On Saturday, Clarke, who criticized Black Lives Matter as “an anarchist movement,” posted the tweet calling for popular revolt along with a picture of angry professionals wielding clubs and torches.

“It's incredible that our institutions of gov, WH, Congress, DOJ, and big media are corrupt & all we do is bitch,” Clarke wrote. “Pitchforks and torches time.”

It was one in a string of fiery tweets by Clarke, a surrogate for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. ................................
