Rep Collins thinks facts are disputed if he disputes them. Disputed facts mean WITNESSES dispute them. This is not disputing facts. This is ignoring facts.

FBI Director Wray Breaks With Barr, Backs DOJ IG's Findings On FBI Probe

Source: TPM

December 9, 2019 5:26 p.m.

FBI Director Christopher Wray affirmed Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report on Monday that found the FBI did not improperly open its investigation into the Trump campaign and Russian election interference.

Wray told ABC News correspondent Pierre Thomas that one of the most important takeaways from the report is that he and his agency “fully accept its findings and recommendations.”

One of the other big takeaways, Wray said, was that “the inspector general did not find political bias or improper motivations impacting the opening of the investigation or the decision to use certain investigative tools during the investigations.”

“Including FISA?” Thomas asked.

“Including FISA,” the FBI director replied.

Wray’s acceptance of the report’s conclusions puts him at odds with Attorney General Bill Barr, who spun the report as proof the FBI’s investigation was launched “on the thinnest of suspicions” that were “insufficient to justify the steps taken.”

Republicans Throw A Tantrum During Second Impeachment Hearing

Source: huff post

12/09/2019 04:07 pm ET

Lawmakers protested the proceedings and made theatrical outbursts in defense of the president.

House Republican lawmakers went to the mat to defend President Donald Trump in an impeachment hearing on Monday, accusing Democratic colleagues of engineering the inquiry in order to remove Trump, ignoring standard procedures and blocking access to witnesses.

The hearing frequently became disorderly and contentious, with theatrical outbursts from Republican lawmakers such as Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and repeated interruptions of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.).

But despite the numerous attempts to distract and disrupt the proceedings, Republicans and their lawyers did little to counter the evidence that Trump sought a quid pro quo arrangement with Ukraine and sought to target 2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden for personal political gain.

Same protester yelling 'Trump is innocent' at impeachment hearing called for Obama to be lynched

Monday December 09, 2019 · 9:11 AM CST

If you’re wondering who the man was shouting before House Judiciary Committee members during Monday’s presidential impeachment hearing, here you go: It was InfoWars host Owen Shroyer, the same man who called for former President Barack Obama to be lynched earlier this year.

Shroyer started his latest rant addressing House Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler directly. "You're the one committing treason. America's done with this. America's sick of the treason," Shroyer shouted. "I'm not going to sit here and watch you run an impeachment scam and remove our vote. We voted for Donald Trump."

Wait a minute. Who voted for Trump? Last time I checked, the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, but I digress. Shroyer went on to shout that Democrats are trying to remove Trump because they don’t like him. "Americans are sick of your impeachment scam! They’re sick of the Democratic treason,” he said. Shroyer finished his speech with a final, “Trump is innocent."

But wait, there’s more. The frequent ranter in June had made even more violent remarks in discussing the far-right news site Breitbart’s article “Emails Show Obama's State Department's Role in Anti-Trump Coup Cabal," according to Newsweek. Shroyer suggested during his anti-Obama rant that the former president was "treasonous" and should be killed.

Trump-Has Taken At Least 1,100 Children From Their Parents Since Family Separations Officially ENDED

The Government Has Taken At Least 1,100 Children From Their Parents Since Family Separations Officially Ended

https://theintercept.com/2019/12/09/family-separation-policy-lawsuit/

John Washington December 9 2019, 9:56 a.m.

“You can’t imagine the pain,” Dennis said. “If you’re not a dad, you don’t know what it’s like.” I reached Dennis by phone in a small town in the Copán Department of Honduras, where he lives with his wife and three children. For five months this year, the family was fractured across borders. Sonia, age 11, had been separated from Dennis after they crossed into the United States and turned themselves in to the Border Patrol to ask for asylum. Dennis was deported from Texas, and Sonia sent to a shelter in New York.

The U.S. government is still taking children from their parents after they cross the border. Since the supposed end of family separation — in the summer of 2018, after a federal judge’s injunction and President Donald Trump’s executive order reversing the deeply controversial policy — more than 1,100 children have been taken from their parents, according to the government’s own data. There may be more,
since that data has been plagued by bad record keeping and inconsistencies. The government alleges that separations now only happen when a parent has a criminal history or is unfit to care for a child, but an ongoing lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union argues that the current policy still violates the rights of children and families. Border Patrol agents, untrained in child welfare, make decisions that some parents are unfit to stay with their children based solely on brief interactions with them while they are held in custody.

Dennis picks coffee during the harvest season and works other basic jobs when he can, but he struggles to put food on the table and pay for his kids’ school supplies. In April, unable to find steady work in the coffee fields and receiving regular threats from a creditor, he headed north, hoping to find safety and opportunity in the United States. “We were barely eating. I couldn’t give my kids a life,” Dennis told me. (He preferred that I only use first names for him and his family due to safety concerns.) Thinking that his two boys — ages 2 1/2 and 7 — were too young to travel, Dennis took Sonia and together they left Honduras. They trekked through Guatemala and Mexico by bus, train, and on foot. They were robbed once, terrified the whole way, and had to beg for food. They slept wherever they could — sometimes in the woods, along the tracks, or, when they could scrounge enough money together, in migrant flophouses.

After about a month of travel, Dennis and Sonia crossed the Rio Grande in a small raft outside of McAllen, Texas, on the morning of May 17. They walked for hours before they turned themselves in to a Border Patrol agent and were taken to a processing center, where they were locked up in one of the freezing-cold temporary holding centers known as hieleras, or iceboxes. Only a few hours later, a Border Patrol agent took Dennis and Sonia and locked them in separate rooms. It was the last time he would see his daughter for five months...............................................

Impeachment Does Not ‘Overturn’ an Election

The founders were extremely clear about the importance of dealing with the abuse of executive power.

As House Democrats ramp up their impeachment investigation into President Trump, an increasingly vocal charge from the president’s supporters (and the White House) is that the House is attempting to “overturn” the results of the 2016 election.

The charge is that impeaching and removing an elected president is illegitimate because it is anti-democratic — because the person the voters (or, at least in this case, the Electoral College) chose ends up out of office. This argument is silly — impeachment is in the Constitution as a way of dealing with the abuse of executive power.

But to fully understand why the charge is ludicrous, it may help to go back 219 years — to the origins of a constitutional provision that receives virtually no attention in contemporary discourse, the 12th Amendment.

As “Hamilton” fans (and plenty of others) know, the election of 1800, in which President John Adams ran against his vice president and political rival, Thomas Jefferson, revealed a serious flaw in how the Constitution structured presidential elections. The founders, who did not anticipate the rise of political parties, provided for an Electoral College in which electors cast votes for two candidates — without specifying which one they supported for president and which one they supported for vice president. Under Article II, Section 1, Clause 3 of the Constitution, whoever received the most electoral votes would be president, and whoever received the second-most electoral votes would be vice president.

This arrangement meant, as was true after the election of 1796, that the vice president, and thus the president of the Senate, could easily be the president’s principal political rival. (Imagine if Hillary Clinton’s reward for losing the 2016 election was to serve as Mr. Trump’s vice president.) It also meant that, if every elector representing the party ultimately in the majority voted for both of the party’s candidates, there would be a tie no matter how large their relative majority was.

That’s what happened in 1800, when .........................

............................................
This is why impeachment and removal remain extraordinary remedies for extraordinary misconduct by the president of the United States. But the founders would have been appalled at the suggestion that such measures are illegitimate solely because their result would be that the president is no longer the president. If that didn’t faze them even when the result could have been to hand the presidency to the president’s rival, it certainly wouldn’t faze them today, when it would hand the presidency to the president’s own handpicked running mate.

Trump Slammed For Insisting ‘Killer’ Real Estate Jews Will Back Him To Save Their Wealth
The president’s comments at the Israeli American Council summit were called “vile and bigoted.”

Jewish groups denounced President Donald Trump Sunday for anti-Semitic tropes after he referred to some Jewish voters in the real estate business as “brutal killers” who will vote for him to dodge a wealth tax.

Trump also complained that some Jews “don’t love Israel enough” in a speech Saturday at the Israeli American Council National Summit in Florida before a supportive crowd that chanted “four more years.”

Halie Soifer, the executive director of the Jewish Democratic Council of America, called Trump’s comments “vile and bigoted” in a statement. Trump’s “deeply offensive remarks ... including his unconscionable repeating of negative stereotypes that have been used historically to target Jews, only reinforce our belief ... that Donald Trump is the biggest threat to American Jews,” Soifer added.

Author Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg tweeted: “It’s not even coded anti-semitism. It’s not a dog whistle. He’s saying this. Out loud. To a room full of Jews.”.........................................

'Snowflake' Devin Nunes Mocked For Panicking After Reporter's Question

Source: huff post

The GOP lawmaker claimed he was the victim of a stalker. Turns out it was a reporter who identified himself and asked a normal question.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) is being mocked on Twitter after claiming that he’s the victim of someone who “stalked” him.

However, the image he shared on Twitter was of reporter Lee Fang of The Intercept ― and footage doesn’t show stalking, but rather ordinary reporting.

Video from the scene shows Fang identifying himself, then calmly attempting to question Nunes outside a $15,000-a-plate GOP fundraiser on Saturday.

Fang asked Nunes about his contacts with Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani ― attorney to President Donald Trump ― who has been indicted on federal campaign finance charges.

The House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment report released last week includes phone records from AT&T showing multiple calls between Nunes and Parnas.......................................

Kamala Harris Leads Senators In Demanding 'Immediate Removal' Of Stephen Miller

Source: huff post

12/09/2019 06:00 am ET

More than half of Senate Democrats say Miller’s “demonstrable white nationalist ideology has been directly translated” into Trump administration policy.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and a large group of Democratic senators have signed a letter that will be sent to the White House on Monday calling on President Donald Trump to fire senior adviser Stephen Miller in light of leaked emails showing the extent of his white nationalist beliefs.

“We write to demand the immediate removal of Stephen Miller as your advisor,” states the letter, a copy of which was provided to HuffPost by Harris’ office.

The leaked emails, the letter says, show that “what is driving Mr. Miller” is “not national security, it’s white supremacy—something that has no place in our country, federal government, and especially not the White House.”

“Simply put,” the letter continues, “Mr. Miller is unfit to serve in any capacity at the White House, let alone as a senior policy adviser.”
