PPP poll: Swing State Voters Don’t Trust Trump on Supreme Court, Overwhelmingly Favor Heari

It is a pdf file. So difficult to transfer.

http://www.americansunitedforchange.org/page/-/SupremeCourtMemo62816.pdf

New Public Policy Polling surveys in 6 key battleground states where Republican Senators are up for reelection this year find that voters don’t trust Donald Trump and would rather have Barack Obama picking a new Supreme Court justice than him. As a result they overwhelmingly support hearings on Merrick Garland’ s nomination to the Supreme Court, and are inclined to punish the vulnerable Republican Senators who are holding up his selection.
Key findings from the surveys conducted in Arizona, Iowa, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin include:

Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick pulls ahead of John McCain in Arizona senate race

There has been scattered talk for some time about John McCain potentially being in trouble in his 2016 bid for reelection to the senate, and that’s come more into focus as his democratic opponent Ann Kirkpatrick has begun to emerge as a viable mainstream alternative — even as McCain himself keeps finding new ways to stick his foot in his mouth. But with McCain having held small leads in various polls for months, some have been waiting to see if Kirkpatrick could pull ahead before taking her as a serious challenger. As it turns out, that milestone has now been reached.

John McCain had been leading Ann Kirkpatrick by six points in the widely respected PPP poll conducted in May. However the month of June has seen McCain inexplicably claiming that President Obama was at fault for the mass shooting in Orlando, which played so poorly that he ended up having to walk it back. This, combined with McCain’s confusing quasi-endorsement of unpopular republican nominee Donald Trump, appears to have finally cracked open the door of opportunity for Kirkpatrick. In a PPP poll conducted in June, she now leads McCain by two points in the race.

The reason for the shift seems straightforward enough: McCain’s behavior and words seem less maverick-y of late, and more just plain erratic. Ann Kirkpatrick, a popular multi-term congresswoman from Arizona, has a solid mainstream record and may be increasingly seen by voters in the state as a more sensible choice than McCain for the senate seat....................

Democrat Hillary Clinton will release a wide-ranging “tech and innovation agenda” Tuesday, detailing plans to connect every household to high-speed internet and to develop the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The presumptive Democratic nominee’s technology platform will include an ambitious goal of bringing broadband to all U.S. homes by 2020, according to a Clinton campaign aide. Mrs. Clinton also will call for a range of upgrades to the nation’s technology infrastructure, including connecting more public destinations such as airports and train stations to the internet and clearing the way for them to offer free Wi-Fi.

...........................

Mrs. Clinton also plans to lay out a new student-loan relief plan aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs and innovators, the campaign aide said. The former secretary of state would allow many young people starting new ventures to defer payments on their student loans for up to three years, easing a financial burden during the startup phase of their business.

Her plan also would forgive up to $17,500 in student loans for many innovators who launch businesses in struggling communities or develop social enterprises that deliver a measurable benefit........................

CHICAGO (WLS) --Hillary Clinton spoke in Chicago on Monday at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition's annual convention.

The focus of this year's Rainbow PUSH convention is on economic justice. Clinton received a warm welcome as the keynote speaker at the convention, speaking at the International Women's Luncheon titled "Lifting as We Climb."

Clinton arrived at 2:08 p.m., almost 50 minutes late after making an earlier campaign appearance in Cincinnati with Senator Elizabeth Warren. Warren is a harsh critic of Donald Trump and is also reportedly being vetted as a possible vice presidential pick.

..................

Hundreds of women stood in security lines at McCormick Place to be in there for the luncheon and Clinton's arrival, and rose to their feet when she took the stage. The crowd was filled with educated, socially conscious African American women eager to hear what Clinton had to say about gun violence, a women's right to healthcare and more..............

JUST IN: House Report Exonerates Hillary Clinton For Benghazi, Exposes Republican Witch-Hunt

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stoically weathered a ceaseless storm of slander swirling around her, victim of a Republican witch-hunt aimed solely at derailing her chances of winning the American presidency. But she may finally have some vindication, as this morning, a House of Representatives report from the Select Benghazi Committee was published definitely exonerating Clinton from the absurd charges that she bears the blame for American deaths in the 2011 terrorist attack on the US Embassy in Benghazi by the radical militant group Ansar al-Sharia, and declares that it “is long past time for the Select Committee to conclude its work.”

The report provides conclusive evidence that the Clinton State Department granted the many requests for extra security made by the embassy embodied, debunking the false narrative circulated by right-wing conspiracy theorist radio hosts and most recently by presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump,
who claims that “Ambassador Stevens and his staff in Libya made hundreds and hundreds of requests for security. They were desperate. They needed help. Hillary Clinton’s State Department refused them all.”

The truth is that House Republicans cut the funding for embassy security by $128 million in fiscal 2011 and $331 million in fiscal year 2012, placing the blame for the attack’s success on their own shoulders. In 2011, a year before the attack, Clinton herself had warned that the embassy budget cuts were “detrimental to America’s national security” – and House Republicans ignored her warnings.

The report goes further and details twenty six unique points slamming their own committee on Benghazi for “squander[ing] millions of dollars in a partisan effort to attack a presidential candidate.” The Committee has been conducting its “business” without a set budget, without a set plan operation, of purposefully withholding information in order to implicate Secretary Clinton, of fabricating false allegations against Secretary Clinton and then cherry-picking evidence with obvious bias in order to make those allegations appear valid, and of using political threats in order to bully other Departments into complicity.........................

In court filing, Trump leans on legal protections he’s vowed to undo

The donny boy sure loves to sue!

In court filing, Trump leans on legal protections he’s vowed to undo

It’s a good thing that Donald Trump’s plan to loosen existing legal protections for those who badmouth public figures hasn’t yet taken effect. Because the presumptive Republican presidential nominee took advantage of those protections today in a legal filing in a defamation suit filed against Trump and his former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, by a cable news pundit. (Trump’s presidential campaign is also listed as a defendant).

In a just-filed motion for dismissal of the suit, attorney Lawrence S. Rosen argues that the plaintiff in the case, cable news commentator and Republican strategist Cheri Jacobus, is a just such a public figure. “Because the alleged statements cannot be objectively characterized as true or false, plaintiff also cannot meet the added pleading requirement of ‘actual malice’ required for ‘public figures’ in defamation claims,” Rosen wrote in a footnote in the filing. “By plaintiff’s own complaint allegations, there can be no dispute here that she too is a ‘public figure or, at the very least, a ‘limited public figure,’ as she has clearly “thrust [herself] to the forefront of [a] particular public controvers[y] in order to influence the resolution of the issues involved.”

Advancing the case that Jacobus is a public figure amounts to smart lawyering from the Trump side. After all, years of precedent have established the principle that defaming a public figure is an exceedingly difficult thing to do: The remarks in question must be made either with knowledge of their falsity or with reckless disregard for the truth. That high bar has assisted news outlets over the years as they have reported on the shortcomings and scandals of boldface names, like Donald Trump.

The resulting difficulty of suing the pants off broadcasters and newspapers has quite clearly frustrated Trump, as he explained in a February appearance in Fort Worth:

One of the things I’m going to do, and this is going to make it tougher for me … but one of the things I’m going to do if I win … is I’m going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money. We’re going to open up those libel laws. So that when the New York Times writes a hit piece, which is a total disgrace, or when the Washington Post, which is there for other reasons, writes a hit piece, we can sue them and win money instead of having no chance of winning because they’re totally protected.

Again: It’s precisely those laws that Trump himself is relying upon to beat back the suit from Jacobus...............................

.............Arriving from a special rally in Cincinnati with VP prospect, Senator Elizabeth Warren–Clinton was introduced by both Mrs. Jacqueline Jackson and Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. to a standing ovation. With an audience filled with supporters from faith, community, business leaders as well as educators and public officials–the former First Lady of the United States stood confidently at the podium addressing the audience.

Clinton covered the importance of healthcare but she also mentioned her March trip to Chicago’s far South Side at Kids Off the Block in the Roseland community. She recalled, “Rev. Jackson and I went down to the memorial of lost lives of young people taken by gun violence. It started out as a way to honor those lives lost; children–young people and teenagers. I’ve had the great honor of getting to know and work with the mothers who have lost children to gun violence,” said Clinton.

She acknowledged Annette Nance-Holt, mother of slain Chicago teen–Blair Holt who was shot and killed on a Chicago public bus in 2009. Clinton commended the Democratic Congressional Representatives who fought for gun control last week on Capitol Hill, disrupting the session with a sit-in. She says, “America is still mourning.”

Without missing a beat, the Democratic Presidential candidate, highlighted the most recent deadly attack at a Orlando nightclub, the one-year anniversary of the Charleston church massacre and the many lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School four years ago.

The ongoing violence that has taken hold of Chicago has reached national heights as she mentions the sixty-four people shot over the Memorial Day weekend. But, her voice elevates a notch as Clinton addresses the elephant in the room–Donald Trump.

“We’re up against a man with dangerous, incoherent ideas. He is for the white supremacists, he mocks people with disabilities. He says he wants to ban an entire religion, he wants to get rid of gun free zones around the schools, let more countries have nuclear weapons, default on our national debt, turn back the clock on marriage equality. He doesn’t think we need to raise the minimum wage. I can go on and on.”.....................

Republicans Rocked By Report Detailing GOP Lies And Abuses During Benghazi Investigation

House Republicans were dealt a severe blow by a 339-page report from the Democrats on the Benghazi Select Committee who not only provided the evidence that Republicans have hidden but also detailed the Republican abuses and lies throughout the investigation.

According to the report from the Benghazi Democrats:

The Democratic report also documents the grave abuses Republicans engaged in during this investigation—from A to Z. Republicans excluded Democrats from interviews, concealed exculpatory evidence, withheld interview transcripts, leaked inaccurate information, issued unilateral subpoenas, sent armed Marshals to the home of a cooperative witness, and even conducted political fundraising by exploiting the deaths of four Americans.

“In our opinion,” the Members wrote, “Chairman Gowdy has been conducting this investigation like an overzealous prosecutor desperately trying to land a front-page conviction rather than a neutral judge of facts seeking to improve the security of our diplomatic corps.”...........................
