J.D. Vance Defends Texas Abortion Ban, Calls Rape 'Inconvenient'

Source: daily beast

J.D. Vance, who is trailing several GOP candidates in the Senate primary, told Spectrum News 1 that “in Texas they’re trying to make it easier for babies to be born.”

Updated Sep. 23, 2021 5:46PM ET / Published Sep. 23, 2021 4:40PM ET

In a local news interview published Wednesday, author and venture capitalist turned Senate candidate J.D. Vance suggested he would support prohibiting abortion even in cases of rape and incest—and dismissed those catalysts as “inconvenient.”

Asked by Curtis Jackson of Spectrum News 1 in Columbus, OH, whether a woman should be forced to give birth even if the pregnancy was the result of incest or rape, Vance replied that “the question betrays a certain presumption that’s wrong.”

“It’s not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term; it’s whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child’s birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society,” said Vance, who lags behind several Republican candidates in his Ohio primary. “The question to me is really about the baby. We want women to have opportunities, we want women to have choices, but, above all, we want women and young boys in the womb to have a right to life.”...........................................................

Key Facts

Like Texas’ law, the Florida bill, introduced by state Rep. Webster Barnaby, a Republican, bans physicians from performing abortions if a “fetal heartbeat” is detected, a term medical experts criticize as factually misleading but typically happens approximately six weeks into a pregnancy.

The Florida bill also copies the Texas provision that anyone except a government employee can bring a civil lawsuit against anyone who performs an abortion that violates the ban or “knowingly engages in conduct that aids or abets” an abortion, with the plaintiff eligible toreceive at least $10,000 in damages per abortion.

The Florida bill seems to have the support of GOP leadership in the legislature: Florida State Senate President Wilton Simpson said after the Texas law took effect that lawmakers were “already working on” their own so-called fetal heartbeat bill............................................

Big Pharma, medical firms donated $750K to Kyrsten Sinema -- then she opposed drug bill

Source: raw story

September 23, 2021

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, the controversial Arizona Democrat who threatens to derail President Biden's legislative agenda, received more than $750,000 in donations from the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. After that, she announced her opposition to a Democratic plan to lower prescription drug costs.

Sinema told White House officials that she opposes House and Senate bills that would allow Medicare to negotiate drug costs, sources told Politico this week. Democrats estimate these bills would save $450 billion over the next decade and thereby pay for a large portion of President Joe Biden's $3.5 trillion spending plan. The budget bill would expand child care, health care and paid family leave and would fund programs to combat climate change, among other measures. Three House Democrats have also balked at the plan, although they have offered a "centrist" alternative that would drastically limit which drugs are subject to Medicare negotiation. Sinema reportedly opposes that proposal as well. During her successful 2018 Senate campaign, Sinema repeatedly vowed to lower prescription drug prices and drug costs for seniors.

...........................

.................................

Sinema has received $519,988 from PACs and individuals in the pharmaceutical industry throughout her political career, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics. She brought in more than $120,000 in pharma contributions between 2019 and 2020 even though she is not up for re-election until 2024. Sinema has also received $190,161 from donors in the pharmaceutical manufacturing space and $62,797 from the medical supplies industry.

Sinema's office is led by a former lobbyist whose firm worked on behalf of pharmaceutical companies. The senator's chief of staff, Meg Joseph, was a registered lobbyist and principal at Clark & Weinstock, where her clients included the health insurer Health Net. During her tenure, the company also lobbied on behalf of numerous pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, drug distributor AmerisourceBergen Corp., and the biotech firm Genzyme Corp. It also lobbied on behalf of Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and AdvaMed, two major industry trade groups.........................................

Lauren Boebert paid rent and utilities with campaign funds, FEC filings show

Source: Denver Post

Republican congresswoman later reimbursed her campaign for $6,650

UPDATED: September 22, 2021 at 5:48 p.m.

Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert paid rent and utility bills with campaign funds in violation of federal campaign finance laws, new filings with the Federal Election Commision show.

The filings, submitted to the FEC on Tuesday, also indicate that Boebert reimbursed her campaign for the $6,650 worth of payments. Representatives for the congresswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.

Each of the four payments in question (two for $2,000 each and another two for $1,325 each) were amended to show payments for the same amount, description and on the same days to John Pacheco, whose address is the same as Shooters Grill in Rifle, which Boebert owns. Pacheco’s relationship to Boebert was not immediately clear.

The latest discrepancy appeared in a July campaign finance report for the committee Lauren Boebert for Congress. Payments to Venmo were described as “Personal expense of Lauren Boebert billed to campaign account in error. Expense has been reimbursed.”...................................

Know the Facts: Status of Pfizer COVID-19 Booster Shots

On Friday, the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (FDA VRBPAC) recommended a booster dose for primary series recipients of the Pfizer vaccine who are 65 or older and people who are at high risk of severe COVID-19. This recommendation is just a first step in the process. Before booster doses can begin, approval must be granted by the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. The committee is expected to meet this week.

While there are still steps to come, Wisconsin is prepared and stands at the ready to begin booster dose vaccination. As we wait to learn more, please be patient. There is ample vaccine supply, and everyone who is recommended for a booster dose will receive one.

Loony tunes Michael Flynn says Deep State planning to put covid Vaccine in salad dressing

I wonder if Flynn has always had this tendency [thoughout the years] to be this crazy? He was a hot shot US General in the military at one time. --Or is this just more recent--like over the last several years of being brainwashed by listening to fox and rw radio.???

@RonFilipkowski
In a show dedicated to covid and election fraud conspiracies, Michael Flynn yesterday brings up an article he read that the Deep State medical establishment is planning to secretly put the covid vaccine in salad dressing.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) has filed a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), saying that the federal agency’s guidance on LGBTQ rights is “extreme federal overreach” that violates Texas’s “sovereign right” to determine workplace policies, specifically when it comes to LGBTQ job discrimination protections in the workplace.

The lawsuit goes so far as to claim that employers like the state of Texas have a First Amendment right to refer to transgender people by the wrong names and pronouns.

To promote the lawsuit, Paxton claimed that letting trans people use the correct restroom at work will lead to violence against women and child molestation, a claim not made in the suit itself.

“States should be able to choose protection of privacy for their employers over subjective views of gender, and this illegal guidance puts many women and children at risk,” he said in a statement...................

Florida's next surgeon general opposes mask, vaccine mandates

Source: Miami Herald

Updated September 21, 2021 3:57 PM

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a new surgeon general for Florida on Tuesday, a Harvard-trained doctor who advocated for an approach to the coronavirus pandemic that emphasizes protecting individual rights over community-based precautions.

Dr. Joseph Ladapo, a UCLA researcher who expressed skepticism that vaccines could help end the pandemic, said Tuesday that he would “reject fear” as a public health strategy.

“Florida will completely reject fear as a way of making policies,” Ladapo said. “That’s been something that’s been, unfortunately, a centerpiece of health policies.”

As surgeon general, Ladapo will oversee the state’s Department of Health, Florida’s lead agency on combating the coronavirus pandemic. He replaces Dr. Scott Rivkees, a pediatrician whose last day was Monday.

Ladapo indicated on Tuesday that he’ll play a more prominent role than Rivkees, who was noticeably absent from public appearances over the last year.............................

I shake my head at this. Blacks have worse outcomes for #covid and most health problems--and yet this new S. Gen of Florida is Black--he will be working against the health of Blacks--and all people of Florida for that matter.
In the end it does not matter what color the SG=--their duty is to protect the health of its citizens. Given what he believes and says, Ladapo will not be improving the health of no one.

"Ladapo’s hiring now means three major Florida health agencies will be led by Black officials. The Department of Children and Families is led by Shevaun Harris. The Agency for Health Care Administration is led by Simone Marstiller."
