Generations of Americans sacrificed family and future and body and breath, so that you could be pulled from the birth canal nestled in the warm embrace of the easy liberty you’ve come to believe you deserve.
Which makes it all the more tragic and shameful how little regard you have for that freedom now, how much you’re squandering it over and over because you’ve decided the simplest of requests are too much for you to bear and constitute an assault on your personal liberty:

An anti-mask activist and accused Capitol insurrectionist is expected to be released from jail this week despite new gun charges against him — stemming from weapons FBI agents found when they arrested him earlier this month.

Benjamin Martin, a real-estate agent from Fresno, Calif., faces six felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with the Jan. 6 riot. When FBI agents arrested him at his home on Sept. 2, they found a safe containing four rifles, two shotguns, a pistol, and an assault rifle, according to a report from the local ABC affiliate. Martin is not allowed to possess weapons due to a 2018 domestic violence conviction, as well as a 2020 restraining order protecting his sister.
However, Magistrate Judge Erica P Grosjean on Wednesday agreed to release Martin from the Fresno County Jail, and he is expected to be out by Friday, according to his attorney, Roger Nuttall.

"Federal prosecutors have an image of Ben Martin as someone with a violent history who's escalating and lashing out not just at his inner circle, but publicly," the station reported. Voting officials nationwide are still grappling with a new reality after the 2020 election that includes death threats, conspiracy theories and legal penalties for making what were once regarded as minor mistakes, but on Wednesday, a bipartisan group of attorneys announced an organization aimed at helping them fight back.
The Election Official Legal Defense Network is the first organization of its kind aimed at providing pro-bono legal help and advice for election officials who up until a year ago did not really need it.
"It would be better if this wasn't necessary," said David Becker, a cofounder of the group and the executive director of the Center for Election Innovation & Research. "But given the conversations many of us have had with election officials around the country, it's an unfortunate byproduct of the environment we now live in and the election denialism we're now seeing."
Election officials nationwide describe a shift over the past year in the pressure and adversity that come with their jobs, and they attribute most of that to the pervasive false narrative that the 2020 election was stolen in some way from former President Donald Trump...................................

A CBS News investigation, conducted over two years and published this week, detail a pattern of women being abused by spouses and, after reporting instances of violence to military leadership, finding their claims go largely ignored.
More than 40 women who said they had reported instances of domestic violence to the military in recent years. Most of them described the system as broken, and suggested military leaders are unwilling to hold abusers accountable.
One of them was Army Major Leah Olszewski, who tearfully recounted being physically assaulted, and a miscarriage that she believes was as a result of her assault. Olszewski said she reported her abuse to the Air Force.
"I had been strangulated. He had also threatened to break my neck, bust my front teeth out," Olszewski told CBS' Norah O'Donnell. "He kicked me in the side of the stomach. And I flew off the bed into the closet doors. And then he took the comforter, and walked off like nothing had happened."

DES MOINES, Iowa — Cora Smith walked out of Winterset's High School Tuesday with a bisexual pride flag draped over her shoulders.
The 10th grader was among more than 100 students who walked out a in protest over the school district placing seventh-grade literacy teacher Lucas Kaufmann on leave.
Kaufmann was placed on leave last week following a presentation about himself to his class featured the LGBT Pride flag, according to a www.change.org petition. When asked by students, Kaufmann said he was bisexual.
Nearly 1,500 people have signed the online petition. "We're hoping that this will help Mr. Kaufmann," Smith said.
Winterset Community School District Superintendent Justin Gross confirmed Kaufmann was placed on leave after concerns were raised following his presentation, but declined further comment. State law prohibits employers from firing employees based on sexual orientation and gender identification, which Gross acknowledged.

A Las Vegas man traveling from California to Utah was cited by police after he caused a disruption on an American Airlines flight Monday.
The incident was partly captured on video and shows Timothy Armstrong, 61, pointing and yelling at people on Flight 1802 from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. He's also seen getting out of his seat several times. At one point in the video, a flight attendant demanded that Armstrong sit down until the plane had landed.
Armstrong then shouts, "Joe Biden! Really?" He is later seen snarling and growling while he adjusts his mask.

"He began by yelling at the Asian woman in front of me to sit down when she was standing to deal with a back issue," he said. "He proceeded to tell multiple flight attendants that she and her companion 'didn’t belong here.' After asking him to calm down the man went into a complete meltdown of racist, sexist and belligerent comments, culminating in his arrest at the gate."
