Gov Tony Evers pulled off something no Wisconsin Democrat has accomplished in 60 years....

Evers is our man!! He has had to work with a very gerrymandered Repug legislature and will get worse the next 3 years since MORE Repugs were elected. damn.
Actually, the Repugs do NOT work with him. They just continue to pass very extreme RW bills and Evers vetoes.

The Repugs Almost got a supra--majority on Tues but failed by 2.

Analyzing Milwaukee Area Turnout and Results That Led To Evers’ Win

Governor pulled off something no Wisconsin Democrat has accomplished in 60 years.

Governor Tony Evers was re-elected Tuesday by approximately 89,000 votes, tripling his 2018 margin of victory. This makes him the first Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin since 1962 to win a midterm election while a Democrat occupied the White House. He won, in large part, by picking up a bigger share of the vote in Milwaukee’s suburbs.

The Milwaukee metro shifted toward Evers even more than the rest of the state. Collectively, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington counties gave Evers a victory of just under 18,000 in 2018. That nearly quadrupled to more than 70,000 in 2022. This Democratic momentum came entirely from the suburbs. Evers did win a slightly higher proportion of Milwaukee’s vote in 2022, but overall city turnout declined by about 36,000.

The Milwaukee County suburbs more than made up the difference. Due to dwindling turnout, Evers netted 13,700 fewer votes from the city of Milwaukee, but his haul from the suburbs grew by over 24,000.
The Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington (WOW) counties are still solidly Republican, but GOP margins of victory shrank rapidly. Waukesha County gave Walker a 34-point victory in 2018; Evers’ opponent Tim Michels won Tuesday by 20 points. Ozaukee gave Walker a 27-point victory; Michels won by 11. Even Washington County, the most conservative voting of the three, shifted toward Evers by 8 points.

Swinging Suburbia

The graphs below show how each county’s municipalities shifted between 2018 and 2022. Every community in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties gave Evers a higher proportion of the vote in his re-election campaign. Only one municipality in Ozaukee County and two in Washington County swung the other way. Evers flipped Greendale, Greenfield, and River Hills in Milwaukee along with Port Washington and Thiensville in Ozaukee...............

Arizona’s GOP Candidate Kari Lake pointed her finger at an NBC journalist and told the cameras “I'm going to be your worst frickin' nightmare for eight years.” This is an explicit threat against America’s free press. It is also a clear-cut violation of the First Amendment.

Here Are The 11 States That Will Be Slow To Release Election Results

Source: huff post

It will probably take at least 24 hours before winners in their high-profile races can be projected – and no, that isn’t evidence of fraud.

Paul Blumenthal Nov 8, 2022, 05:45 AM EST

.....................

At least 11 states with highly competitive races will likely take 24 hours or more to report enough of their vote totals to declare winners. The races in Alaska, Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin include four marquee Senate races and 33 competitive House races.

That means that it’s highly unlikely we’ll know right away which party will control both chambers in Congress. It does not mean that something is amiss with the vote counting ― although Republicans in these 11 states are likely to say otherwise if they lose...............................

There are varied reasons why these states will take longer to report results........................

......................

In states including Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Republicans have refused to enact legislation to allow mail ballots to be processed prior to Election Day. And the ranked choice voting systems of Alaska and Maine require all ballots to be received before they can be tallied and voter choices distributed.

But the biggest reason why results may take 24 hours or more to count is that these elections are expected to be close. The closeness of the 2020 presidential election is what made it take four days after Election Day before Joe Biden was declared the winner. And the same has been true in other recent elections for House, Senate and governor.

There is nothing abnormal about this. When elections are close, it is important that all ballots be counted to know who wins.............................
