'I expect another congressperson to be shot': Lawmaker sounds alarm as Trump continues to incite his fans

Tom Boggioni October 30, 2022

During an appearance on MSNBC on Sunday morning, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) drew a direct line between the rise of Donald Trump in the Republican Party to the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband by a right-wing extremist on Friday morning that shocked the country.

"It's happened since Trump came in in 2017. There's been a rise in incidents reported to Capitol police about the threats against congresspeople," he began. "I had a threat against me in 2019, the same person called Rep. Emanuel Cleaver in 2021, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison last year out of Springfield Missouri. He said he had a noose for me, was going to put it around my neck and drag me behind his truck because of some remarks I made concerning Trump."

"This man that attacked Pelosi, he was antisemitic, he didn't believe that the Jan. 6 commission was valid. He didn't believe that climate change -- he was a cultist," he later explained. "He got along with all the Trump lies, and he believed in Trump."

"This is what got him to go against Pelosi," he added. "Pelosi has had threats against her life, innumerable disparaging comments by Republicans. This has contributed to an atmosphere that I think will result in more violence. I've been saying this for quite a while. I suspect another congressperson to be shot, probably killed. I expect there to be multiple killings sometime in the future around the Capitol."

This appears to be a very coordinated and targeted effort over last couple days to spread these hateful messages all over Jacksonville, Florida during UF/UGA game weekend.

"Not a random act": Details emerge in attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi

Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, underwent surgery to repair a scull fracture after he was beaten with a hammer inside his San Francisco home Friday. Law enforcement sources told CBS News the intruder shouted "Where is Nancy?" and planned to detain Paul Pelosi until she got home.

Police wouldn't comment on a motive, but said this was "not a random act," and that it was targeted and "wrong."

With the attacker in the house, police say Paul Pelosi was able to make an open-line 911 call around 2 a.m. Friday. The dispatcher could hear what sounded like someone being threatened in the background, and sent a high priority alert to law enforcement, according to federal sources.

The dispatcher's actions "in my opinion resulted in both a higher priority dispatch and a faster police response," San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said on Friday. "I think this was life-saving."

When police arrived on the scene, they saw signs of forced entry, including broken glass.

"Our officers observed Mr. Pelosi and the suspect both holding a hammer," said Scott. "The suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it."....................

NEW: Days before midterms, the U.S. is warning of a “heightened threat” to the 2022 elections, fueled by a rise in domestic violent extremism and driven by ideological grievances & access to potential targets, according to a joint intelligence bulletin obtained by @CBSNews

Barbra Streisand: "...Conspiracies and lies are what leads to attacks like these [violence P.Pelosi]

Barbra is not the first to speak out about how the Big Lie and conspiracies leads to attacks -violence!! But I am glad to see a high profile celebrity speak out.

Fox News anchor Jesse Watters said "a lot of people get attacked with hammers" and dismissed the break in at Speaker Nancy Pelosi's house as a "simple assault." Paul Pelosi is currently in the hospital undergoing brain surgery to repair a skull fracture.

My heart goes out to my friends Speaker Pelosi and her dear husband Paul.Conspiracies and lies are what leads to attacks like these.

Simple assault is like getting slapped in the face when you are hosting an awards show. Hammers are higher up and fall on the murder scale.

A heron uses bread as bait to catch a fish.

In Wisconsin, voters shrug off GOP candidate’s Jan. 6 tie

.................“I think it’s the No. 1 issue. It’s the underlying issue of this race,” Pfaff said in an interview. “Jan. 6 opened up the window into his soul. And what we saw there, is we saw something that is unfortunately very dark.”

Pfaff acknowledges he is trailing the Republican, who has a vast fundraising edge.

Van Orden’s campaign declined to make him available for an interview with The Associated Press.

Some voters in the 3rd Congressional District, a sprawling landscape of dairy farms, small manufacturing hubs and college towns, have sharply negative views of what happened Jan. 6. But that doesn’t mean they blame Van Orden......................

Dems Release Attack Ads In AZ, NC For Threats To Social Security

Hit 'em hard!

By Susie Madrak — October 28, 2022

The Democrats are rolling out new ads about Republican plans to go after Social Security and Medicare. Finally! But remember, typical voters have only just started paying attention. Via the Maddow Blog:

In the closing weeks of an election increasingly dominated by economic issues, the Senate Democrats’ top super PAC is focusing on Social Security in new ad buys worth at least $1 million each aimed at Republicans in Arizona and North Carolina. In the Arizona cut, the narrator asks what nominee Blake Masters’ plan is “while we’re struggling just to stay afloat.”

The commercial is unsubtle, and it makes use of the Republican candidate’s own rhetoric, including recent remarks in which he suggested privatizing Social Security.

The Senate Majority PAC, which has close ties to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, also began airing a related spot in North Carolina’s U.S. Senate race, targeting Republican Rep. Ted Budd...................................

Republican U.S. Rep. Liz Cheneyhas endorsed Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin and will campaign with her in Lansing next week as Slotkin faces a tough challenge from GOP state Sen. Tom Barrett in her bid for a third term.

It's the first time that Cheney, a prominent critic of former President Donald Trump, has formally endorsed a Democrat for office, according to Slotkin's campaign.

Cheney, who lost her GOP primary in Wyoming over the summer, serves on the House Armed Services Committee with Slotkin and both previously worked for the U.S. Department of State before going into politics. Slotkin also is a former CIA analyst and a top Pentagon official in the administration of President Barack Obama.
Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., left, and Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich.

"I have come to know Elissa as a good and honorable public servant who works hard for the people she represents, wants what's best for the country, and is in this for the right reasons," Cheney said in a statement.

“While Elissa and I have our policy disagreements, at a time when our nation is facing threats at home and abroad, we need serious, responsible, substantive members like Elissa in Congress. I encourage all voters in the 7th district — Republicans, Democrats, and Independents — to support her in this election.”...............................
