Let's face it, the Military Industrial Complex

is our federal government's number one jobs program. If Congress turned off the money spigot at the Pentagon, I bet we would have over 25% unemployment. Not saying this is a good thing, but that's the way it is and has been since the Cold War began, maybe even before that.

Wouldn't it be nice if we took some money and turned it into a jobs program that instead of building weapons that we sell all over the world and used it right here to create jobs in health care, education, green energy, affordable housing, child care, etc.

And that folks, is what President Biden is trying to do right now in Washington and predictably republicans are fighting it with every bit of energy they have. And he isn't even threatening the Defense budget.

This is the message we need to get out.

Once again, it was great today

to wake up and not have Larry Elder be my Governor.

Here is the problem.

There is nothing wrong with two intelligent people having different opinions on political matter. Discussing or even debating these differences can be educational and a good exercise for the mind. But where it all falls apart is when the person with the opposite view is so brainwashed and stupid that they are not even a worthy adversary. And that is where we are now.

So it looks like I lost about 50% of my vegetable garden in the fire.

There was a row of plants about 20 feet from the fire, some plants did better than others. Oh, well, it was nearing the end of the season and it's nothing compared to my neighbor who lost his entire home and car. I don't know how my neighbor is doing, I haven't seen him. The Red Cross was on the scene on wednesday, and I assume they are helping him out. I hope he is okay.

Rachel is doing a story right now

about dogs who can sniff out the Covid virus with an accuracy rate in the 90%s. They are using them in the Miami airport. For now, they are using them on employees reporting for work.

My question is how long until DeSantis bans the use of them?

If anyone thinks what Biden is doing is not

a good move politically, let me tell them what would be a worse political move - if on election day in 2024 all the ICU beds are still full and we were on our fifth booster shot.

Evacuated again. **UPDATE on the kitties**

Not a big forest fire this time, it was the mobile home next door to me. We're okay, and back in our place already. Fire department is only one mile away and responded promptly. No real damage to our place, but it was close. The two elderly men who lived there got out with a few minor burns. Two cats, who are outdoor cats are still missing.

It was a double-wide mobile home and it went from flames coming out of a bedroom window to a 100% involved fire in about 15 minutes. Very fast and very scary.

**9/14 - I have got one of the cats, safe and sound. I can't bring her in the house because I have two dogs and a small house (mobile home). She's in a large dog crate I have and enjoying a can of Tuna Fish on my porch. It was so sad yet cute, I was out side today, and the burned trailer has a side porch that faces my side porch. It's about 4X8 and was the entrance the cats used 24/7. They always left the door open all night for the cats to come and go.

I looked over there, and there she was just laying in the middle of the burned porch looking bewildered. Now these cats are very skittish and have never let me get within 10 feet of them. I was worried she would just run off if I approached her. She just laid there calmly and let out the sweetest meow and let me pick her up. The owners are staying with friends about 15 miles from here and will come get her in the morning. Maybe we'll get lucky and the other one will show up by then.**
